IMO, you make such a good use of positive and negative space within the timing on your choice of accenting OR silence depending of the feel of the song. F*&%ING great. You are on of my favorite drummers. You got the groove man...
hey chad whats up?! awesome drumming! definitely underrated! I've posted a quick video of myself putting an interesting piano twist (or ruining lol) on one of your songs. check it out and let me know what you think!! :) God Bless
its so awsome hearin you speak the rock language ( baba..ding ding) lol!! seeing this makes me see u more as a person instead of this supernatural drumming force that only exist in a world far way from my own, A MILLION THANX DUDE!!!!! very inspiring
@drumerboy1365 I agree with you, man. I mean it has nothing to do with the drumming sound but it makes the drummer more entertaining to look at when playing live doing tricks specially chad's style. I really love it!
Awesome Chad, thanks!! I have been playing/learning this song for a couple months now and I am happy to see that I actually was hearing things and reproducing them accurately! I'm looking forward to getting on my kit this weekend after studying these vids and perfect I Will Not Bow. Not to mention Diary of Jane.. you guys are great. Keep your rock on!! God bless!
Is it weird to say that my favorite part might be when the song ends? That outro riff with the guitar/bass/drums has like a ground shaking vibe to it. Then the timing of the end mute of the riff and cymbals together is a really amazing way to finish it. I think of it like calming the storm.
For example, check out the acoustic BB performance with Nick Coyle. You'llsee what I'm trying to explain.
@zephyrkhambatta im not totally sure about the exact explantion but they may provide a softer sound. My reasoning behind this is just because his strokes are pretty high, yet you can still hear him play
Hot rods - theyre quieter and have less attack than full wooden ones. They give a really "purcussion-y" sound rather than modern drums. Check out Wonderwall by oasis
@zephyrkhambatta yea they are just for softer play so he can explain with out making as much noise. If he was using regular sticks it would be way loud haha.
Hey chad im a huge fan you probably get this a thousand times but when i first started playing music you and Ben have been my guide to playing, writing music, and playing drums i just wanna thank you
Hey chad can you post a video of your new set up? :D I noticed that its not really new you just didnt use everything you have in the "i will not bow" video and i think you took away the 16 floor but im not too sure..i dont see it in the instructional video lol
Chad quick question.. HAve you seen the layout on the Rock Band game for this song and how accurate (as far as a four pad kit can be) do you think it is?
I don't know if he answered you but the rock band version is tabbed out identical to the song. You just have to know which ones mean toms and crashes and so forth. It changes up alot. Of course rockband doesnt teach any drumming fundamentals. But it an easy way to pick up tempo and groove of the song.
Awesome videos, cleared things up a lot.I'm stoked for the DVD coming out,I will surely buy it.P.S. The beeping in the video I believe is a Smoke Detector that is low on Battery's =P just FYI.

Thanks for explaining the song!
I have 1 question though, I always wondered why you play your 8" and 10" toms reversed ( 10 - 8 )?
Keep up the great work!

what are those sticks he's playing with? the ones with those many smaller individual sticks in them?
and what's the purpose of using those over regular sticks?
