Damn! You guitar players make it look easy. I wish I could play a guitar like that. I'm 52 and I love the rock classics of my time but have no musical talent. Only "air guitar".
@privettricker I'm 52 and playing for 35 years, still can't do this. Maybe kinda pathetic, but I'm still playing almost everyday. Guitar playing is great at any level.
Perfect! Best PW-cover on YouTube. You nailed both the guitar sound, the chords and the strumming. How about a cover of the "Captain Walker"-part from "Overture" for your next vid?
Got a question ... When you do the beginning .. fiddeling about the E6 and E7 (some sort i guess), can you use your pinky on the 7the fret on the G string ? Not letting and letting just the B and E string open ?
@privettricker 23 seconds ... i guess it's an E7 / Em7 fiddeling ... not E6 ... But i think i figured it out meself ... It doesn't need the pinky... Heard it in the live version... But it sounds ok tho...
@MagicMaui1 I play it as G string 9th fret, D string 8th fret. I don't know what you call those chords, but it's suspending a B on and off with the B/E strings ringing open (no pinky). In the live versions, Pete usually covered those two high strings, probably because the distortion would cause some unpleasant harmonics with that kind of sturmming at stadium volume!
@privettricker I just made a mistake, not the pinky on the G-string 7the fret but the point finger ... Sorry for the mistake, i get somethimes confused on fingers like you on fret numbres ...
@MagicMaui1 Yeah, definitely use whichever fingers are most comfortable for you. I ended up using these fingers because it's the same hand shape as playing the full chords, but whatever feels right will work.
@privettricker@privettricker Hey PT: at 2:19, 10th fret - are you using the same chord as the 7th / 8th frets earlier in the song? Are you barring the 10th? I'm using the same chord but it doesn't sound right when I do it...I must be doing something wrong. Thank you in advance....
@ipicac Search my channel, I did a complete explanation of how to play this. For what it's worth, I'm not playing it as the same chord from earlier in the song.
@kissrocks45 No, not like P90's, closer to a humbucker. But mine has the typical Gretsch pickups, not the TV Jones upgrades. They're a little bit hot with gain, and just a tad muddy. A lot of people replace them with TV Jones pickups, but I kind of like them so I've left them in.
@kissrocks45 Actually, I'm just self-taught so I don't know much about studying chords. But there's no substitute for listening to a lot of music and putting in some quality hours practicing. Chas Chandler once said of Jimi Hendrix: "He was the best guitarist in the world because he wanted to be." In other words, Hendrix wasn't born to play guitar, he LEARNED it. That takes work.
Is that a Gibson or Epiphone?

@MrGuitarguy285 I'm sure Epiphones are fine guitars. But I've never owned one.

@guitarzanduke A Gibson J200. Pete played a '68 J200 for virtually all the acoustic work he did with The Who during the Moon years.
