but windows has the manopoly of the pre built market. 95% of computers sold are bought by normal non techie heads that just want to send emails and browse the web. windows is convenient and is more widely supported by software. i agree that linux is superior in almost everyway but until linux is more widely recognised and has more support it cannot compete with windows on the market.

Used to have a Monopoly. Multiple vendors are selling both laptops and desktops with Linux preinstalled instead of Windows. This is in addition to the server market that is almost dominated by Linux. And now there are multiple companies shipping cell phones running Linux all over the place.

And these aren't small no name companies either. These are companies named Dell, Asus, and Google. And those are just a few.
