  • Does This Foam cost alot ?

  • nice

  • 1:17 wax paper

  • Wher Can I Get That Foam From??

  • put the computer on the outside of the booth

  • use mixcraft 5 its good and easy way more better than audacaty

  • Comment removed

  • @brotherlinus if theres a mic and a booth and a mixer and hes mixin his own shit then its a recording studio

get on some real nigga shit nawt alot of ppl have 25 Gs they can blow on a studio

a studio is where u do work

and have the tools for it

and if hes got a mic then hes recording in a studio what would make it a recording studio just sayin....

  • @doubl3DAtroubl3 had trouble reading this.... what's a "nawt"?

  • @brotherlinus not

  • And now you can clearly see why professional get paid big money and why you want to stay away from the "Craigslist" special PRO. LOL

  • audacity? really?

  • Looks like good foam. Has anyone tried Samplitude 11. I use 10 and really love it.. Also check out my hilarious parody of those audio engineering schools that guarantee you a job...nowhere!......

....... The Institute of Delusional Audio.......

  • Go To My Chanel & Look At My Home Studio !

  • haaaaa audacity ...well ghetto.....cool edit haaaa more ghetto...tools schhol

  • where can u get that foam?

  • Yeah cool, but that egg-carton foam costs an arm and a testicle. There's gotta be some recycled material you can scrounge from hard rubbish. Any ideas?

  • You did a great job all I wanna make a comment about is that you should use that much foam, reason why is if you cover everything it's all muted and sound is good but just block some areas.. Great job though keep it up

  • how much did it cost you to cover the room with foam ?

  • your sound is going to be too dead if you have everything covered in foam.

get a couple auralex t'fusors on your roof and it'll be good!

  • Wat the fucks a ruuf?

  • it's DI-FUSE not DY-FUSE!

  • best acoustics for acoustic guitar and vocals... a small, tile shower

  • Heres a tip ur studio sucks it looks poor u fucking Oklahoma bomber looking bitch

  • Check out Ardour. Nice room. Ardour is a wicked a audio workstation. Free and actively developed. Audacity is nice too, but you might like Ardour better.

  • where did you get all the foam? :O

    and was it pricy??

    i use egg cartons

  • @EmmanuelTromboner acoustic foam will absorb way more sound than egg cartons. All egg cartons will do is maby defuse the sound a bit, i dont think it would absorb much sound. Foam like that is pricey (google acoustic foam), rockwool is cheaper (and good) if you dont mind a bit of DIY. The SE reflexion filter might be worth a look 2.

  • @Morne555

yeah thats its pricey thats why oive been using egg cartons there not the best but they do help somewhat.

is rock wool worth getting over foam? im on a budget -_-

  • @EmmanuelTromboner yea, great for making bass traps. Other things you could try is a bed mattress (preferably one without springs) leaned against the wall. Big thick curtains and having a sofa in the room will help too. Natural acoustics in a room isnt a bad thing! theres lots of studios that dont have live rooms fully covered in foam, they just target certain spots in the room. It all depends on the room tbh

  • @Morne555

    hmm alright

well i do all my recording in my room so what ive dones my rooms is divided in half one side is the bed and the other is half covered with egg cartoons and has all my instroumentss

i think im going to just go for foam hopefully soon

  • How much noise does the laptop fan make? Looks like a small room so the lower end of the vocal frequency range could be a problem ie deep voices will sound boomy. But if you are just doing voice over stuff with close directional mics then the room wont affect the sound so much I guess. What about outside noise coming in?

  • Are you recording, without an audio interface??? Thats a crime...

  • were can i get that foam

  • you now have a completely dead room. Congrats.

You want a "good" sounding room, not a dead room, unless its strictly for some vocal and acoustic applications. then maybe.

room noise and character are desired usually though. You just want a room with some way to keep the reverberations from bouncing back to the point of origin..aka no walls/surfaces should be parallel to each other.

  • If you would like that kind of foam, our family packaging company uses this exact type. We have it in bulk so you could probably get it very cheap from us. PM me if you're interested.

  • @bondstunt whats your info on the foam,so I can get ahold of you.E mail me at (Freakboy0780@yahoo.com)

  • @bondstunt hit me up with some info on the company at email(freakboy0780@yahoo.com)

  • Canadian?

  • Looks like Dallas Green if he had never become a musician

  • good vid.

  • Hey man. I havent seen the messages below mine but, just a suggestion, why dont you try recording with protools. Of course you have to buy a M-Box in order to use "protools" but actually is not that expensive. On the other hand, yo have a nice recording room there. Congrats. I hope it was helpfull. Im just saying, you can search more about this program. Im going to start using it and I have big espectations about it. Good luck

  • parchment paper

  • i bet its hot as the devil ass crack i kno in mine that the heats feel like its 2 degrees past slavery but nice booth and setup

  • where can i get a cheap mic but good one

  • @KiddGuap best buy look at the samson c01u

  • does the foam really work?

  • nice the studio

  • you spent all that money on foam and your using FREE/cheap recording software .smh

  • @l1ftedink

    i know huh XD

dude if you have a PC get Sonar 8.5 producer

    best software for PC

  • i run 2 video production companies from my living room... your setup and the look of it is only important if you have a lot of clients coming in an out, otherwise its just what your comfortable with. It doesnt matter how it looks or what you use, the best studio set up and gear in the world wont make crappy work good. Its what you do with it that makes it good. You're doing great.

  • Where did you get your foam from? I have yet to find it at a good price...I need a lot of it! Thanks

  • I just wanted to know where are ur monitors

  • is the foam expensive?

  • where can i buy the film..

  • hey .. baisacly i think you need a lot of new things, and you need to change a a lot aswell .

1st of all you need to get some bass traps, which is a thicker foam usualy put in the corner of ther room

2nd of all, if want to be proffesional, i thnk u need to change ur software program, either cubase, logic, pro tools etc.

3rd of all you need to change ur connection and get an audio interface, usualy through USB connection and TRUSTT me ull get a much better quality.

  • Its not how the studio looks but how the audio sounds thats important. Ghetto can be good if it works.

  • nice!!

  • lol the whole room for , cool edit .

  • its parchment paper :P

  • Nice work you did there. I use Adobe Audition for my recodings, wich is the follow-up of cooledit.

my suggestion of what you could do to even improve your work would be to get a Condenser Studio Microphone, might result in even better Sound Quality.

  • what's the second program you said after audacity ?

  • i know what he did wrong he forgot to build a door lol

  • How did you have the set up going to your laptop Ive been trying to find out how to do this for some time now could anybody help me on achieving my goal. Thanks

  • @ILOVELAURENKELLY hey, well if you are serious about recording, you want a audio interface. he just went from the main out of the mixer into the computer with a 1/4 to 1/8 converter..which isnt really bad, but you will lose some of the quality.

just google usb audio interfaces, and you can get some that will run into your computer through usb, and the mixer or microphone, or insturment will plug into it

  • WAX PAPER YOU BIG GOOOO!

  • parchment paper

  • The problem of filling a room with foams is that it only absorb the bottom end waves. You won't get any absorbation in the higer registry, witch means that you'll end up with standing waves anyways. And ofcourse the fire hazard is enormous! But otherwise it contributes to a very cozy atmosphere and does help it look more ''professional'' and ofcourse a ''stump'' sound is achieved, with no room reflection at all. If thats what you want :P

  • @sanitymetal The size is of our room is ridiculously small because it's all we had to deal with...and we aren't recording singing here. Just some monologues/speeches. And it ain't cozy hahaha...it gets hot. :D

  • Yeah! The room looks great! I didnt manage to get my absorbers that good hanging from the wall. The only thing i learned from the foam is when recording guitar it sounds like a bass. Therefore i was kind of allergic of it before, but i guess it would definitly help while recording speech and other hi-def stuffs!

    Take care!/Simon

Didn't mean to sound rude or something :P

  • You actually have it backwards. Thin foam is essential for higher frequencies which is essentially what you want in vox rooms. In order to absorb bass frequencies, absorption material needs to be thicker hence the chunky denser "Auralex" Bass trap

  • Whoop! Wasn't awake when i wrote that. My bad :)

  • Are you fucking kidding me ??? How could you recording something that sounds good with Audacity ??? OMG !!!

  • i guess this foam is more expansive than my whole studio..lol...but cool studio ;D

  • wereu get da foam at?

  • what are the foams on the wall for?

  • to help the acoutics which mean it stops the echo

  • To absorb sound

  • you should purchase a usb or firewire audio interface for you recording

  • Nice set up. Check out my set up and tell me what you think. It is not about righ or wrong...its about getting the best results :)

  • unistly i think the rooms to big but is it works hight five guys

  • how old is this video? they stop making cool edit like4 years ago....adobe took over....the newer software is great check it out its called adobe audition 3.0

  • Nice studio setup! Ever used a Shure or Samson or Neumann microphone?

  • Yes, I use a Samson USB C001. Good microphone!

  • Also, have you ever used Sonar/Cakewalk for your recording software?

  • Isn't that the software that came with the Samson? I think I tried it but I remember it as being complicated and weak for my needs. I use free stuff (Wavepad/Audacity) or CoolEdit.

  • might i ask how the hell you just used samson and Neumann in the same sentence?? Neumanns are PRO studio mics, keep ur samsons away. they belong at home..

  • wuts the point of the foam if ur gonna have all that hardware in there if u get a good mic ur not gonna have good recordings man make a booth with a mic n foam in a seperate room

  • Hey I noticed some white noise on my recordings...it's electronical or mechanical noise, just white noise. Are you thinking the hardware might make that?

  • my dad's friends has a recording studio like that but he has drum kits and alot of guitars in it!

  • OMGravy!!! I LOVE Audacity!!!!

  • Right onnnn! I enjoy the info mannn!!! B^)

  • Thanks JJ, good luck.

  • @DanielGardnerclips hey dude where did you buy the foam panels?

  • That's so strange. My brother was talking about making a recoring studio out of his closet. hmm. I will be sure to show him this. heh. Thanks Daniel!

  • Hey sure thing Lindsay good luck!

  • oh! oh! I was going to ask: how's the internet in there?

  • The wifi signal is really weak in the studio, but upstairs its much better, so we probably won't use the studio too soon for live broadcast, etc.

  • Thanks for posting this Daniel - it ROCKS! I really enjoyed being able to see the end result of all the work you put into this. I'm impreeeeeessed!

I love it that the door is like secret... it disappears into the foam-ness... oooo.

WHA! The lights are SO awesome down the side of the room like that. Word.

Btw - the paper you're using as a defusing is called "wax paper".

And say, is that my shirt? lol, jk :P

Thanks again - way to make my day!

    <3

  • I don't think it's wax... that would melt with the heat of the light... I'm thinking parchment paper. B-)

  • Is parchment paper the stuff they use in ovens? Or is that the wax paper stuff?

  • Well I *thought* I'd used wax paper in the oven before... but according to The Kans it melts so... lol - maybe it's parchment paper. :D

  • @hannah Yo...it's a secret door. From the inside. :P

Oh that's a conference shirt I got here in BR..

  • did you intend to say wax paper on the lights?

  • I intended to say "uh....whatintheworld is this stuff CALLED?" :P

  • @DanielGardnerclips im pretty sure youve found out by now, but im 97% sure the paper that is diffusing the light is called bakingsheet.

  • @DanielGardnerclips by the way you are killing the rooms acoustic leaves some spaces in the room without foam

  • @Retartedflyinghippos

actually its parfin paper it dosnt get hot and u can put it in the oven and it wont melt good video the only thing i think you would be better of with is a audio interface and a more legit soft are(your studio is alot better than mine rate now wating till x-mas to get equipment) :) happy producing

    dj mike B.

  • @MIKEBAIL Actually thanks for replying to a comment I made a year ago.

  • @Retartedflyinghippos i so narcissistic and sarcastic i was trying to help get is point across and ppl dont screw up

  • I just found and started using audicity. So far I love it. =)

That looks cool. I wish I had a spare room to do that with but maybe in the new house. I am certainly looking for one with more than 3 'bedrooms'.

    - Heidi

  • Audacity has some really nice, simple features.Good luck wth it!

  • Daniel snap out of it man...you sound drugged.

  • Aww - he doesn't look so much drugged, as like a tired baby. Maybe you should give him a hug instead of saying rude things. That's right, go be a nice boy. ;) :D

  • Awesome! Our recording booth was a kit we bought (back when we could afford such things. :P), and yours is definitely on par with what we've got. I'd dare say yours is even better to a degree, because yours is bigger! ;-)

  • Buying all that foam was a major expense though too. And gluing that stupid stuff on the walls and roof was a 2 week chore.

Do you use a sound board? or do your mics plug straight in via USB?

  • True, true.

Yeah, we use a sound board... I think it's a four-channel, but I may be wrong. Usually we go from the mixer to a Zoom H4 field recorder (which records onto an SD card) via XLR, and then plug the card into the computer to get the files.

  • First comment! w00t! ^_^

Parchment paper to diffuse! Great idea! In photography I've used paper napkins to diffuse the flash. Hahha! It was all that was there!

I have to record the audio and vid separately too cause my vid program will only allows use the horrid mic. An extra step, more complicated, but WAY better quality. Go you!

  • Hi. Who are you?

  • Wait......i'm starting to remember....Girl named Kans.......she's 18...it's all coming back....
