Yep that's how it goes! I live near the south central area of South Dakota. We bought the hunting rights to some Indian land about a couple years ago and hunting guides still come around during pheasant hunting season trying to let those big old out of staters hunt on our land. Good stuff when ya get to chew em out though!

From what i understand the hog farm is on private land and not reservation land, so you can not complain that it is in your backyard when you don't own the land. To tell the owner or owners of the farm they can't build here would be unconstitutional. It is their right to free enterprise. As far as pollution, anything that comes from the farm as a by product is organic and won't hurt you. Also you can not tell me you don't like pork, and this is they modern way to raise hogs.

I do understand, sadly in NC where so much ground water has ben ruined. All this is on the records of pollution violations, Federal and State Laws that as a Free Nation we abide by. If you are free to do what you want, then nobody is protected from ignorence.Thats why we have to make Laws,Proper zoneing and environmental safegaurds. Biodynamic's is the proper term for the natural function of liveing beings.
The word'organic'has become known to mean natural,yet "natural" now means without chemicals added, "organicaly certified"is to be free of things you may find in toxic waste,the ground being carefully tested.
'natural' doesnt have this standard,

You make an important distinction, the land was sold to a "Farmer" not to an industrial factory.If the land were farmed, hopefully with edible food and well taken care of with conservation and wise use

I know a AAA certified organic farmer who does very well, no animal waste used, it can be done.There is nothing wrong with composting Clean animal waste and matter for fertility. industrial waste by products,no good. Electric motors can

From what i understand the hog farm is on private land and not reservation land, so you can not complain that it is in your backyard when you don't own the land. To tell the owner or owners of the farm they can't build here would be unconstitutional. It is their right to free enterprise. As far as pollution, anything that comes from the farm as a by product is organic and won't hurt you. Also you can not tell me you don't like pork, and this is they modern way to raise hogs.

We support farmers, especially our local farmers in the area, who by the way, do not want this hog factory either.They were the first to object to this way back before we even knew about it.They stood up at the community meeting with Longview Farms reps and demanded answers also.One even pointed his finger in Jeff Kayser's face and called him a liar!This is not a farm!It is a factory, these hogs will never see the light of day,they will be raised in these "barns" until ready for slaughter

We had a meeting last nite with reps from Longview Farms and they just danced circles around every question before they abruptly left after one farmer got up in their faces.There were over 200 people there so it's not just us Ihanktowans either, alot of farmers are with us. They don't want it here either. We're still there today we're not gonna stop til we chase them off our lands. I'm confused, do they own the land? If they do not then they cannot build on private property. Much less build a hog farm which involves water rights and environmental issues.
There should have been a legal process before construction ever began, especially for a Hog Farm. I get the impression I'm not getting the full story here.
Hog farms are notorious environmental hazards, and my best advice would to ally with environmental groups in a legal action. Get the media involved.
