Nothing wrong with how or where you injected, in response to everyone barking about alcohol wipes ,you dont need alcohol wipes or to clean the skin unless your tramp who doesnt wash!!!!! the only reason the nation health service do it is because they dont no wether you do wash so they use it just in case to cover there back thats the only reason they do it or RECOMMENDED it!!

you injected in the outer thigh which is spot on, some people use the inner thigh which is risky!!

@Serpent257 im seriously thinkin of takin this video down cause everyone and their mother wants to tell me how to inject myself. this video was edited for length to fit. its easy to tell and i also state that. also i state its not for instructional purposes. also i was trained to do this by my physician and have been doing it for 3 years no problem. i do disinfect the injection site with alochol and dont blow on it to introduce new bacteria but let it air dry hence why it was probably cut out.

@tamastar007 just stay strict to protocol and routine. relax but be focused. i suggest taking a hot shower and letting the water hit your injection site for awhile to heat up the muscle. i also rub my index finger and thumb around my syringe where the t is to warm it up before injecting. i notice this tends to help for a smooth injection every time.

@becomingshae i draw up with 18g 1 1/2inch needles, i inject with .5 inch 27g. I had a pharmacist tell me it would be "impossible" to inject with a 27g. at that time i had been using that same gauge needle for 2+ yrs. Yeah, sure, I can't inject with it.. * eyeroll*. ended up not using them anyway, the guy was a butt. I only cover my own needles too because i do not want to stick myself! anyway i can usually barely feel the needle, and no blood 9/10 times. check out my tutorial! :)

First of all i'm not clear on the situation you're referencing here.

If you pushed the needle into the muscle, aspirated and blood pulled back into the syringe you can do 1 of 3 options. 1. push in a little deeper and aspirate again. if no blood comes up then plunge the medication in. 2. Pull back out a little bit and aspirate again plunging if no blood pulls back. 3. pull the needle out, change your needle and re-insert the needle into the muscle in a diff location.

if the blood came out after you withdrew then needle. don't worry it's okay to bleed after injection. sometimes you'll bleed a lot sometimes none at all.

my dad used to inject avonex for his MS and this happened to him, if its coming into the needle, you didnt get it into the muscle. if you pull it out and it starts flowing or spurting out of your leg (saw it a couple times, scary) you hit a artery/vein on the way in, just apply pressure and you should be fine

Holy fuck, DON'T inject without knowing what you're doing first.

Aspirating is when you pull back on the plunger to see if any blood pulls into the syringe.

If blood does appear in the syringe it means you are in a vein or artery.

If you inject into an oil based substance into a vein then you are pretty much dead from heart attackj or stroke.

Thats interesting, here in New Zealand, as health professonals, we ar taught to never recap a needle due to increased risk of getting a needlestick injury. Our policies throughout hospitals is to put them straight into the sharps bin without recapping, interesting!

I'm from America and I have been taught to NEVER recap a needle for the same reason -- straight to the sharps container it goes.

However, I have been told that we can recap some needles depending on the situation. If the needle hasn't been used or contaminated, we can recap and keep it in the refrigerator for certain purposes. Other than that, it shouldn't be recapped.

We are taught the same thing in the US. It's to prevent infection from HIV or Hepatitis. If you are self-injecting you do not need to worry about accidentally poking your finger. You already stuck yourself somewhere else!! :)

no the syrenge shouldnt fill with blood when u pull back if it does u need to pull out immediately a few small bubble should appear when u pull back if ur not in a vein

well it's only my second time doing intramuscular. i dont mean to do it slow but when it presses against the skin it pauses to puncture through, the force needed for a clean, quick, entry i haven't figured out yet but actually the two injections ive done haven't hurt at all.
