I love to see Gene in slacks & sweaters , he use to do that a lot. Gene has gained weight, I think black kinda hides that. Guess when you travel on a bus, " less you have a bus like George Jones" and a washer and dryer on board. Well , black will show less damage after a road trip. Just guessing. Gene is very attractive, he should liven it up a bit. George Jones is picky that way. Have you ever seen him perform? Be seeing him April , going south to OK.
I think the weight gain is directly related to the medication he has to take after beating cancer. Luckily for us, it hasn't affected that magical voice. Mark
George will also be at Renfro Valley here in Kentucky this year - he and Gene are two of the favorites whom we are so blessed to have with us each season.. I have seen George twice in person and he does a heck of a show every time.
Twyla - I like Gene's jacket, too. I will be finally meeting him when he comes to Kentucky in August again. If I can get up the nerve I plan to ask him if he would consider staying away from all the black I've seen him wear so much and get some great real colors going - not quite as fancy as he wore mainly in the 70's of course .. Apparently you took me seriously Mark. I had no intention of telling Gene what to wear - as a matter of fact since my sister and I sang professionally in our teens we often had little suggestions about our wardrobe. I have never really equated talent with what anyone wears - of course we all know that Gene likes to sing and has enriched our lives by doing so. I should never have joked about it.
