@littleps3dude well buddy, its is best taht you change your ESX to Novak GTB No limit ESC. Trust me, It works on me. replace the ESC and the Battery also need to change. It is Recomended to use Lipo battery with 25C and 30 Burst C. or if you scared of Lipo battery to boom and cost you the car, you can use Nicel Metal hydrate or known only as NiMh. its heavier than Nicd but kick lots of punch on power Second in the line after Lipo.

@AYYEzn as for beginner..... it depands on you. casue there are 2 drive system. 1. Shaft and 2. Belting. However, on those 2 system, there are numbers type of RC car type. For Example, HPI, Yokomo, Tamiya, Sakura(3Racing latest product),X-Ray, Vantex/Mantax, HL, and much more. and price also faari from each brand. As for beginner like you,(me also new around this RC world) I will Recomend you( top use the cheap and reliable one. If you can bang for the buck that will be awsome.

@littleps3dude id recommend a 8.5 brushless. we use tamiya super drift tech tires.

@hyperdrifthawaii Novak's Ballistic? Or any 8.5 brushless? I had Novak's Velociti 4.5R Brushless in my RS4 Rally, i lowered it, and was using that for drifting for awhile.

@paulsixone you don't really need a ballistic, i'd recommend a 8.5 havoc more unless you plan on using a 3s lipo then get a ballistic.

I was wondering if the HI grip racers, give you guys a hard time about drifting on the track? SoCal grip racers get all bent, if they think plastic tires might be making their track more slippery and reduce they lap times.

(They look for any excuse, cause they suck and cant adapt.)

nah they don't theres 3 tracks and usually the grippers grip on the larger track, if anything the drifters out number grippers over there at the track most of the time, at least when we go. but everyones friendly, most grippers i know drift too so yeah theres no drama over here.
