As a Tekken fan i find Capoeira the one of the most fascinating, diverse and original fighting style there is. The nature of the style is one of the best and the flow is what amazes me. I agree that Tekken was the influence for Capoeira becoming well known worldwide. Apart from Yoshimitsu - Eddy Gordo is one of my favourites!
@akrongoblin13 lol, well I like him, and all of his movies. Mainly the older stuff. And yes tekken is awesome. Eddy gordo, christi, hwoarang, baek, Bian Fury
I agree. If I could throw fireballs at people, or batter people with a spinning bird kick then nobody would mess with me. HA DO KEN!
Can you imaging someone starting on outside a bar, so you just turn him into ice and shatter him? I don't understand why more people don't just copy video games instead of going to the effort of actually training.
If anyone really thinks that capoeira is effective, they need to have their heads checked. While someone is doing that they would just get tackled and beaten to a pulp. I guess if you are into dancing, then it is something you should pursue.
i disagree with that sort of opinion, ´cause i would mean that, for example, a karate fighter woud do kata in a middle of a street fight, which is, of course, a load ´o bull......
before posing try reading articles ´bout capoeira, it´s history and the reason it looks like that. You might learn something.

The guy in the video says that the movement helps protect his face from the kicks. Look, I have no problem if someone likes gay dancing, that is their purgative. But don't pretend like this style has what it takes to be a real martial art.
look, i respect your personal opinion of capoeira. you don´t like it- that´s fine. But, insulting something, which has been around for a few centuries, and therefore people who learn capoeira- with that i cannot agree. And, as a comment- this is just a trainingg movie, after watching this you should have the basic idea of how is should look like. There are a few more aspects he didn´t mention, fofr example the upper body balance, and more. done properly it helps protect your face from kicks.
Dude, it was banned in the 30s because it was considered too brutal. Bandits attached blades to their feet. Imagine getting an armada to the face with that?!
how the hell does capoeira make men look like gay lords. its a martial art for petes sake. dont go around calling something gay just because youve seen it for the first time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's more of a dance than a martial art. If a person flailed around like a red headed circus monkey with a few kicks I guess you might consider this a martial art. Let's say hypothetically that I see a gay parade for the first time...I can't call it gay?
im planning on taking lessons but my fear is that right now i dont have much upper body strength. do you gain akot from practice or should i incorporate some weight lifting on the side because i want to learn all of it, the kicks and the flips, i know its a long road but im willing to do it
ive seen this before awhile back on tv, or rather something about it. i always thought it was pretty intresting and would be something id like to learn but i know it would be extreamly difficult for me to do cause ive always had trouble with sports and what not.
Yeah it pretty obvious capoeira's been out longr than tekken, considering tekkens only been around for what, ten years or so? But im suprised, most the characters have styles based off martial arts, but christies and eddys stance looks almost excatly like this. Neway i was thinking about learning a little capoeira, but im not sure...It takes alot of upper body strength rite?
And thank tekken? It's like saying thank "only the strong" for introducing capoeira to the world, but actually it's the other way around. There's a lot of people that want to pretend to play capoeira without knowing the history, without respecting other players.
People say thank you tekken, I say damn tekken, disrespectful wannabe's are exhausting.
This ginga is the ginga imposed on capoeira contemporanea by Mestre Camisa, I believe, as an "efficient," "scientific" ginga. If you practice your ginga in order to ginga, it will not look like this paint by numbers "ginga."
@boredguy haha I used to choose Eddy Gordo all the time...because my name is Roscoe Gordo. ;] I love Capoeira because of it! Deeng bringing back the memoriess
lotsa ppl just like myself last time around had no idea there was such an art, till we've seen those characters doing those crazy cool stunts in tekken. thus, it's quite simple to deduce that people would often associate the game more than the actual name of the art to describe it. i dun see where u're gettin with dis rant. besides nobody said tekken invented capoeira. u love capoeira? we do too, but we dun knw dat it's called dat way and u do, so take it eazy ok smartass >:-/
I think anyone can do it. You will not have the most advanced skills when you start, but with time that improves. Anyone, any age, just start within the limits of your flexibility, strength and agility, and dont force things, you'll get all the great skills soon enough..its supposed to be a lifetime thing, so no rush.
honestly i think its a good martial art and all But wat i dislike about it is that not any1 can do it u have to be very flexible, strong, agile etc. but great technique
I disagree.. I've seen fat people, skinny people, and 5 year olds; both male and female do a hell of a lot of the capoeirist movements. It's takes hard work and dedication to learn the techniques, but anyone can do it if they try. Flexibility is something anyone can work on and fix. But as long as you have more strength / agile to mass ratio than 5 year old kids.. than it's easily doable if you work on it. The point is: nobody should doubt themselves, if this is the art for you, work toward it.
There are other martial-arts such as Tai Chi, which is a nice thing with the difficulty being, some people not being near where Tai Chi is taught. That item with You-Tube is this comment is not likely to be listed anywhere near the comment I'm commenting on, so people will lack a sense of context, when reading this.
Ginga reflects your personality... So, it makes sense if you cant find a rhythem. Find your inner self first, then you work on developing a Ginga, because all it is a physical representation of YOU. Ginga, in some ways is the trickiest thing to learn if you not intouch with yourself and most people aren't.

you should give Namco and tekken credit for introducing Capoeira to many other people then. Capoeira became familiar to many audiences because of it.
I'm one of those audiences who were awe'd by Eddy Gordo's movements, thus I was introduced to Capoeira. And I love it! :D
