U make a good point. The Repubs missed a good opp. We should have done better. It is a good thing to get this on the table. It should be a bipartisan bill. This is our country. Not Dem Or Republican. Organized politics has slowed the growth of this country. To often our elected reps do what they want and not what is best for the people they rep. To much lobby influence. We need to take on the lawyers. I believe this has brought out the anger finally.
I totally agree with your comment. It isn't one group or the other in Washington. Lobbyist (insurance) fill those folks pockets and now feel they own them. All of them need to listen to the people that put them there!
Listen to your own post. We are broke. You said it. We can't pay for this. Why don't we try this in a few states and see if it works. We might can afford that. If it does not work. Back to the drawing board before we go broke. That is called a test market. Good businesses do this a lot. Why don't we practice good business for a change. Listen to your comments. Very mean and nasty. So u cast the first stone. Right?
Xldut, This has been tried in Mass years ago and it's proven to be a disaster! And under the current plan being discussed, the Congressional Budget Office report to Charles Rangle states that for most people, the current plan will have ONLY a 10% savings in premiums over private carriers!
ONLY 10%!
And.... the additional costs to the taxpayers will still increase the Federal Deficit by at least a TRILLION dollars. So, you save 10%, but then get your taxes raised?
We already have govt funded insurance for all. We passed it while Romney was governor. People love it and it takes the worry away that if you lose your job or if you can't find a job you won't have coverage.
If we as a state can accomplish this with a republican governor and a liberal house it is possible for all.
Jessica The H.C. coverage in Mass actually has failed... Reported on 9-4-09 there were roughly 200,000 w/o coverage with those that have become unemployed opting out of their coverage to save costs but loosing a deduction on their taxes. Also, there's the large deductibles and high co-pays that makes affordability hard for many. Then there's the costs to Mass... 2007 it cost 630 Million and estimated at 1.3 Billion for 2009! For many, this has not worked out to be a good deal!
Reform this. I am a one person self employed. No group covers me but other do the same work i do. Why can't we be a group? I pay to much in taxes now.Tax incentives encourage me to invest and expand my business. That's not happening now. Taxing me more is not going to improve my situation. Or help you. Tax me less and i will spend more. The only thing the gov ever ran was "ran it in the ground". I shudder 2 think of gov run HC. Are 5% entitled to run down 95%? fix 5%right not 95% wrong.
Thank you for voicing your opinion. I really do appreciate it. I am not sure how the Dems stipped the republicans from proposing their form of Health care reform. Republicans had all the political power. I would really like to read you views on that:)
Don't call us nasty and greedy. That's the pot calling the kettle black. We just went thru 8 yrs of Dems nastiness. Lets have something constructive that's not rammed down our throats.
We need change just not what's proposed. Give us good legislation and u will see a dif response.
Christians and Republicans give more than Democrats. Look it up.We are for HC reform.
We do think every citizen should have some form of health insurance. we r 4 removal of pre ex cond. We believe that competition of private companies would lower cost. In Fl u have 2 pay a months premium to get a quote. It may take 6 wks 2 get a quote. Why should we pay for a quote? Who can pay more than one Co.? HCI. Cobra plan is 2 short.
it is my understanding of your comment that you would want affordable health care reform for all.
Am I reading into your comment that you don't mind paying more taxes to help the less fortunate or you don't want to help pay for it.?
BTW My entire family are Christians and I love them all and I know there are more wonderful christians than bad ones. I just think all the bad ones are in DC....lol
I'm a 24yr old conservative and was raised as a Greek Orthodox Christian. I don't have Health Insurance and I don't want Health Insurance. I also don't want to be obligated to HAVE to pay for MYSELF or others. I'll get Health Insurance when i see it necessary. Like I said I was raised Christian and I do help people when i see it fit and the best way to summarize how i feel about handing people stuff is "give a man a fish he eats for a day... you teach a man to fish he eats for a lifetime."
who is doing the teaching for the uninsured and the people who have cancer and their insurance carrier drops them? who will teach that person to fish before they die?
BTW I really appreciate you sharing your views on this topic. I respect you and your opinions I just happen not to agree with them. That is what makes America great:)
I understand where your coming from but who has the right to choose who gets treatment and who doesn't cause that's what this system boils down to. My grandmother passed away from cancer in a socialized health care system because she had to wait 8 months for anything to be done, and no she didn't make it to the 8th month. Why is it that leaders of countries with socialized health care come to the US to get treated? " A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing"
I am so so sorry for your lose. I have been in the same place with a grandmother who died too earlier due to undiagnosed cancer.
I would like to get information and answers about the the "other" sections of the HC reform bill.
I want to know what else is in HC reform bill.
Americans need some assurance that this reform will also addresses the current state of care and fix the problems so that no one else will becomes a victim of HC and what happened in your family never happens again
Hi JP, There is a very good class on video posted on user mikeshanklin's youtube home page, once you watch this class then you will understand everything that is going on right now.
