I see this very similar to other reboots to movies and games. Little things that really get on the nerves of the old fans just so they can appeal to potential new fans. The Resident Evil movies, it was not hard to give Claire a ponytail. In Star Trek 2009, they changed the look of the Enterprise. People have to understand, reboots and changes to appeal piss off the old fans and hardly do anything to get new fans. Stick to what is known and stop trying to change it!

Capcom wanted to see what a different company could do to the series, thus they gave it to Ninja Theory. Our chronological DMC will be out eventually. Just give it time.

Dante needs a weights set, but the game looks pretty solid from the trailer, but I can't really say I like it unless you give me a gameplay or a demo to go off what I think the aspects of the game should really be like, but then again, even if I voice an opinion it'll just be me VS the world. I can understand why people don't like the new Dante look, but you must understand that even though he looks the way he does, this new game is being made in an English point of view.
It's not a prequel to the previous Devil May Cry games. It's a reboot/re-imagining or whatever you want to call it. It's just like the Tomb Raider reboot, where they go back to a younger Lara and forge a new story from that point on. This is not the same Dante from the previous DMC's so it's not really a "prequel".
Hard to tell whether or not this will be good, but in my opinion Dante only needs two things. Swords, and guns. My concern however is, if Dante looks like that, what does Vergil look like?
hopefully he'll have some "ultimate transformation" where his hair turns white, his sword rebellion falls from the sky and into his hands AND...he gets more buff=) either way, its still devil may cry

I won't lie, I do kind of like this version of Dante. I just really hope they don't fuck up the time line. The only problem I have with his new look (mainly the dark hair) is that it doesn't really seem to fit, I mean, sure you can say he just died it silver later in life, but then why does Virgil have silver hair instead of black? Virgil doesn't really seem like the kind of person who would be dying his hair.

People need to pay attention to the beginning of the trailer or pick up a Gameinformer every now and then....Ninja Theory AND Capcom have already said this is a reboot/origin story (hence the "young offenders....rehabilitation program" line). Restarting the series and giving it a gritty look and feel is a nice change of pace...people would get bored with an over-strech of the original series. They've also said Dante is going to keep the same demeanor he had in the original games. So realx.

It's not a prequel to the previous Devil May Cry games. It's a reboot/re-imagining or whatever you want to call it. It's just like the Tomb Raider reboot, where they go back to a younger Lara and forge a new story from that point on. This is not the same Dante from the previous DMC's so it's not really a "prequel".

Hard to tell whether or not this will be good, but in my opinion Dante only needs two things. Swords, and guns. My concern however is, if Dante looks like that, what does Vergil look like?

dante, even YOUNG dante, had white hair, the only thing they actually kept it seems, was the name, and the guns, im NOT looking forward to this game, but unfortunately, just like the sonic games, because its part of what i think is a good franchise, i'll end up playing this trash

I won't lie, I do kind of like this version of Dante. I just really hope they don't fuck up the time line. The only problem I have with his new look (mainly the dark hair) is that it doesn't really seem to fit, I mean, sure you can say he just died it silver later in life, but then why does Virgil have silver hair instead of black? Virgil doesn't really seem like the kind of person who would be dying his hair.
Still, lookin' forward to were this takes the game.

I must admit after some time, I like this Dante..
The reason why other fans and my self raged was simply because the "Dante" we know and love was given a total make-over to something that made Dante look like a completely different person.
I don't understand why he looks like someone who got epilepsy, but he looks cool now that I have accepted his new and younger look.
I just hope Capcom know what they are doing with together with Ninja Theory..

And yes, i get it, it's a reboot. I don't have a problem with them trying a new look for Dante, my problem is with its actual design.

@pressure6666 ah right, that's fair enough i loved the original game too but the gameplay mechanics of 4 were incredible, if anything i really want to see how they try to improve the series, possibly by incorporating a free roam and free-running factor into it around the city with random enemy encounters? that'd be sweeeeet. after all the company that is developing it is called "ninja"...

It's a fucking Reboot, I mean really what's the point in complaining about a Reboot, it's not really Dante, and so what, how can you consider yourself of a fan of DMC if you only like the fucking series because of the way the fucking character looks, we know nothing about the game other than some psych patient believes himself to be Dante, and everyone is saying the game is ruining the series, give it a chance, and stop bitching about appearances.

@XImmortalDeadpoolX it's not a reboot capcom has already made a statement about that ,it is an origin story, it is dante, and they hinted that his hair will turn white eventually, as well as why he is being asked his name is because he was going under the alias Anthony "Tony" Redgrave when he was around that age this is most likely will be part of this games story

to all people dissing this game, your idiots. This is suppose to be a prequel to all over DmC games. Its when hes younger, before the demon powers emerged in him. It takes place in England during the punk revolution. and if you notice at all, the top of his head, his hair is turning white, its not lighting. its actually turning white. and the design was partly capcoms idea. This game is meant to show him transforming into the Dante we know now.

Man, I bet all the emos and goths out there are crapping their pants SO hard about this game. They could have given him black hair and maybe make him a little skinnier without making him look like an emo "drug-teen-pussy".

People need to pay attention to the beginning of the trailer or pick up a Gameinformer every now and then....Ninja Theory AND Capcom have already said this is a reboot/origin story (hence the "young offenders....rehabilitation program" line). Restarting the series and giving it a gritty look and feel is a nice change of pace...people would get bored with an over-strech of the original series. They've also said Dante is going to keep the same demeanor he had in the original games. So realx.

@TheCosplayProfessor I didn't believe it at first because it was just called a reboot and generally when a title being called a reboot means remaking of the entire series. However, it has been stated by Capcom that this DMC is going to be the origin story.

@TheCosplayProfessor well i didnt intend it that way poor choice of words on my part sorry about that well the location is from what i have seen this game is limbo city and sure DMC shop was located in america but never said exactly were and right off the top of my head i dont know if the city was ever given a name were it was located also Dante has been all over in other games on islands and what not so being in a different country really doesn't change anything.

@TheCosplayProfessor also, as for dante being born with white hair i'm not sure were your getting that from. i don't remember that ever being brought up but it has been some time since i read the novels and mangas so i could be wrong but the first novel however has some errors in it if thats were it was from. and you do have a point about dante's eyes being blue and not red but this could be realization of his demonic power and it could just be a visual que as this is just a trailer

@TheCosplayProfessor devil may cry 4 also had trailers that had nothing to do with the final version of the game and also showed different takes on dantes appearce such as different facial structure and appearce of clothing the final version of the game could correct his eye color and for all we know dante's hair color could be dyed black becuase he is in hiding but it has been hinted at that in the game his hair will be turned white
