It is a suprise to an extent, nothing in sho bis can be a genuine suprise: the time is too constrictred, everything is planned, but things like this are planned between the producers and the staff scedule commity for the show, the show pays for the ET or entended time equating to apx 4 minutes of commercial airing the suprise guest or stunt is usually alletted no more than 4.5 minutes to complete the suprise. the host and guests are entirely unaware. stop being a downer
