  • remember watching this when totp was the only music programme and i used to tape my favourite songs from the radio and listen on sunday evening to see who was number one

  • This was all about Andy and his own stupid sexual silliness - take a ;look

  • @SapphireM The truly talented are usually odd in appearance. Check out Gerry Garcia or Lowell George. Record company nightmares.

  • i remember this coz i was 10,....my son is now 10.....and i'm 40 next year, but i can still remember this like it WAS yesterday.....f**ckin trippy man..

  • holy shit, this band is good

  • excellent. a big hit when i was a teen back in the stone age!!!!

  • Reminds me of being off ill from School with flu and my mum bringing me a boiled chucky egg with soldiers in bed and me listening to the latest tracks on Radio 1 on my little transistor radio. My mum also complained that I "wasn't too ill to have the cats in bed with me" as she caught me hiding Sam and Tiger under the duvet.

  • @Feisty1967 Hey, good call, Feisty1967!

I've not heard it called a "chucky egg" for years!

    The very best of times!

  • I think I read something about Andy Partridge hating this song, or at least the lyrics. I think it's brilliant! But then again, I LOVE most everything XTC ever did.

  • A guitar favored by the late great Brian Jones

  • Very cool looking three P-90 pickup Gibson Firebird the lead guitarist is playing

  • Andy Partridge developed crippling stage fright early on in the bands career which prevented the band from ever making it really big

  • I remember early 1980.s LA Hollywood paladium waiting for them to come on stage.(cancelled)They said he had a nervous breakdown backstage. They were the most interesting music i iistened to back then when U2.Clash ,Talking heads,b52,s were all starting to sprout wings to bad.

  • Yeah I agree

  • the Beatles from the 80's !!!!

  • Good songwriters, wrote some good stuff, I couldn't liken them to The Beatles though.

  • @wildenfree I agree - XTC are much better ;)

  • Think I heard this song briefly in the film Hot Fuzz.

Maybe Pegg & Frost like XTC.

  • @AbouliaTrilobyte I wouldn't be surprised - they are both from the West Country.

  • @MrAdamAlden XTC were Swindon boys (Wiltshire) Hot Fuzz was filmed in Wells (Somerset). Swindon's almost London to us yokels. ;o) At least they had the accent....

  • Check out those Video Graphics! Back in the day, they were pretty damn advanced! HAHAHA!

  • Andy Partridge is the greatest ever mimer to songs on TOTP. This track and Senses are all time classic songs.

  • If this was made almost 30 yrs ago then they must be middleaged. But they probably still look young wont they??

  • looooooooooooooooove this is my fav XTC song first heard it on ashes 2 ashes

  • Top band love it!!! Sense working overtime my fave!!!!

  • First record I ever bought! Still fighting the battle too!!! Come on Sgt. Rock...give us some help!

  • Me too painted the cover on my school bag :)

  • Then I could win my own small battle of the sexes. Love it! We lost though ........
