This actually is the good ending. If you link the fire, you are being tricked to sustain the age of fire, which is the age of the gods. You become a god from linking the fire, but you are only prolonging the inevitable. The ending by not linking the fire starts the age of dark, the age of MAN, not gods, and you are the ruler of that age.
@FDelp994 Who is to say? You become the Dark Lord. Who is to say that you don't become immortal and like Gwyn? If my theory is true, The Age of Darkness doesn't do away with the undead curse and thus you remain undead and thus immortal.
As lord gwyn trembled upon the coming darkness he cindered himself in the flames of kiln whilst fighting against the fourkings of darkwraith whom the enemies of man wish to prevent the link the fire.thus with gywn's knights burned and pave way to black knights of lordran. Then one day, a prophesied undead would come either to succeed the legacy of the furtive pygmy or fulfill the long forgotten pendant which brings memories so that one day became hollow thou shall not forget its true mission.
And should we be surprised that there's no true good ending which ends with world peace? This is Dark Souls we're talking about. The endings were short and quick for a reason. It's up the player interpretation. I'd like to think that the Age of Fire is the more beneficial choice whereas others like to think that the Age of Darkness is the natural course and thus is the most beneficial choice.
The dark lord ending in my opinion is better but, in the wiki it says The remaining ALIVE undead will just die off slowly in a cold and lifeless world
And who is to say that both of the Primordial Serpents are trying to trick the player? Primordial means to exist from the beginning which means that the Primordial Serpents existed before the dragons and before humanity.
i truly fink this is the best ending. i did the other one. but it jus means dat everyfin is d same and wen my soul loses its power later on the cycle begins again. let the age of man begin. nex playthru im doin dis
I'm positive this is the good ending. Killing NPCs does not affect the ending, it's determined on weither you walk outside of the final area or link the fire.
You are the undead with a lord soul. there are actually four lords, Dark became stonger because only with the 4. lords power it can balanced. your ancestor gave you the dark souls, which means you are stonger than other lords. that's why you can defeat all the lords with a weak undead body. That's why you are the chosen undead. You can summon the dark if you relase it, but dark is the strongest thing in the universe. Everything came from dark. epicbucket is right :D
definitely the good ending. not talking in terms of evil/doing whats right.(SPOILER ALERT) its just way more bad ass/rewarding than watching your character getting burned to death
@WasabiSnorter249 I got an idea, let peaple have arguments or get laid. Their choice on what they want to do with their lives, no need to say rude things. Be a friend not a Hollow. :3

This game is called Dark-Souls the reason because your ancestor when he passed gave you the dark soul and you are the furtive pygmy(easily forgotten). The reason why your ancestor was killed by Gwyn was because he trembled by the thought of dark and man would rise and and gods would fall so this is the good ending.
@EpicBucket47 Wouldnt exactly say slave for link the bonfire you pretty much take gwyns place However the fire will die again and the dark sign will reappear so its a loop ending As for the debate of which one is good Linking the bonfires is just putting everything the way everyone is used to Which I can see why its good but humanity has not much control over there future For the dark lord ending you allow humanity to take their own future The question is can you trust them with it
@EpicBucket47 Not really, no matter how you look at it when you end the game the table gets flipped like it was a japanese drinking contest, while kaathe has a good monologue explaining his side, if you paid attention Gwynevere addresses these same issues and offers some assurance that you are doing the right thing by working with them, and also with a basic return to common sense, being left with the same title as Lord Bloodied Fucking Voldemort, cant be particularly good.
So the good ending is if you link the fire and the bad ending is if you don't?
Sorry can someone just explain whats going on in simple terms, this game as much as i love it is really giving me a headache so far as the story is concerned......
@sirAthrus This isnt really true... No one has comepletely pieced together the endings truth. People say the good ending is this one since you start the age of man, others say it is bad.
I hope the next game, they will make the protagonist have more characters.Like,in the end Lord Gwyn made him realized the boob princess is all lies and then the hero went "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
the dark ending isnt really the evil one, bascially frampt and Gwynevere (who is actually a projection by dark sun gwndolien) trick you into taking on qwyns legacy to keep the age of fire going (AKA the age of gods). while the age of dark (AKA the age of man) is what your destiny is. so in a sense this is the 'true' ending.
@HALPCat the 'dark' is representing man in a metaphorical sense, since humans are full of potential to be evil, we are the only know beings capable of true evil, the 'dark' is representing that side of man.
@MrDeathnotefan98 Still, I thought that humans were born through fire and that fire was needed to preserve life, and dark was the sign of the undead and that the dark wraiths (the Dark Lord is basically a darkwraith, as said by Kaathe) use their dark hand to suck out the humanity out of people, essentially making them undead?
@HALPCat everything came from fire, before than it was only dragons, but the furtive pygmy found the dark soul and went into hiding and waited for the age of fire to subside to have the dark remain. and while the pygmy was in hiding the human race and the undead were the evolved pygmys, and the undead are descendant from the furtive pygmy (who had the dark soul) and a marked with the dark sign.
@BrunofanofK "and found the souls of lords, within the flame" and who was it that found the flames? izilith, gwyn, nito and the pygmy, there for stating that everything came from dark.
@MrDeathnotefan98 Technically though, we don't really know which one is good or bad, which is part of what makes the endings that much more awesome. Kaathe is the leader of the Dark Wraith Covenant, which is evil. This means that that Kaathe says could all be a load of bullshit, but again, we don't really know for sure. It's all conjecture in the end.
@pokos33 well good ending was a false statement, its the 'right' ending, i personally dont see either as 'good', i mean if you look at the history and how gwyn, and his family saw the humans and undead as, it was tyranny, pretty much like the creek gods, however the age of dark is something new, but if its good or bad is unknown, the dark wraiths are probably evil if you're on the god's side, but 'dark' is just a metaphor towards the corruption that man can bring.
@MrDeathnotefan98 well said dude. for anyone interested, after you get the lordvessel, speak to kaath(hope i got this right) first, he is in the abyss after you kill the 4 kings. he will share all with you
@MrDeathnotefan98 Gwyndolin was tricking Frampt too, he didn't know about the whole gwynevere is only an illusion-thing. Kaathe even mentions this when you talk to him.
@MrDeathnotefan98 Not really. This is the evil ending. Look at what the Darkwraith armor represents, death. Look at what you're called: Dark Lord. Look at what Kaathe says: Let true dark be cast upon the world. Kaathe tricks the player into thinking that The Age of Darkness equals age of man but in truth, the Age of Darkness is true to its namesake and only brings darkness to the world ending fire, heat, life and balance overall.
@Divinesunone dude, neither of the endings are good, all the age of fire benefited was gwyndolin, as he was the last remaining deity, and you know what he thinks of humans and the undead? take a look at what gwyndolin is wearing, he has a sun shaped helmet at the top, symbolizing that the sun is at the top (his father) then you have him in the middle, and snakes at the bottem, snakes symbolize the undead and man, and as you can see is is riding on those snakes like slaves.
@MrDeathnotefan98 That's untrue. His sister still exists as does her husband. They simply left Lordran with the rest of the gods. The snakes on the other hand could easily represent the snakemen that the gods placed in Sen's Fortress which was a testing ground of the gods. And death is not evil but death without life is evil. The Age of Fire brought both and life and death which is needed.
@Divinesunone nope it even says on one of the rings, a snake is the symbol for the undead, also, even if the other gods still remain, qwyndolin is the only remaining deity in lordran. and everything in the game was born from dark, the intro movie even says that.
@MrDeathnotefan98 No. The gods found the Lord Soul whereas your ancestor found the Dark Soul. There's no humanity in either. If the gods found the Dark Soul, that doesn't automatically make their age the right one. Just because a human found the Dark Soul, doesn't make the Dark Soul good.
Both souls are used to empower those that possesses them. So if you want to look at in another view, both characters are bad.
@Divinesunone i already corrected that neither are good, but the point is, the age of fire only benefits gwyn and the other deity's, the age of dark brings forth change, an weather its bad or good change is irrelevant because that's how things change as the age of dark could make other events occur that move the world forward, which gwyn was trying to stop, the age of fire from changing into something he can't control.
@MrDeathnotefan98 Gwyn is dead though. Look at him next time you fight him. He's practically hollow. His son (Gwyndolin) has built a tomb for him which he sits by all day and night and further proof that Gwyn is dead is the fact that he doesn't leave the Kiln. Gwyndolin (through Gwynevere's illusion) states that his father died after lighting the flame. Gwyn's soul description: "Lord Gwyn bequeathed most of his power to the
@Divinesunone he spent most of his time trying to keep the age of fire going, lighting the kilin was his last resort, and besides, it still doesnt change the fact he is trying to prevent the inevitable, change, even if you did light the fire again, it will eventually die off, and dark will move in.
@MrDeathnotefan98 Where is your source that says that he spent most of his time trying to keep The Age of Fire going? Lighting the first bonfire was his first choice. The Darkness is evitable for people can keep lighting the fire every few centuries or so. Yeah, one person dies but many more will die if the Darkness comes and if we do bring the darkness, who is to say that Kaathe won't try to keep it eternal? Both endings have bad consequences. In a way, there's no "good" ending.
@Divinesunone wheres your source of proof of gwyn and his family being good rulers? how do you know they were good or no? i personally beliave they are tyrants and once again, they still tried to stop the inevitable, which is change, without change the world would be stuck in time. 'dark' does not mean evil, dark could also mean unknown, we don't actually know if 'dark' is evil. as the age of dark, is the age of man. what we are. (look at next post)
@MrDeathnotefan98 Gwyn didn't kill humans. Gwyndolin didn't kill humans and Gwyn's firstborn founded The Warriors of Sunlight and if the hints are anything to go by, Gwyn's firstborn is Solaire (who lost his deity status) who we all know is the nicest NPC in the game. The gods also grant humans miracles to heal.
@Divinesunone umm, if you look at solaire is he obviously and out casted deity, which is why he is "looking for his own sun." and they may not have killed humans but they definitely saw them as servants or even slaves, a snake is a symbol of the undead, gwyndolin rides on snakes, which is more symbolism to this point, you gotta look for symbolism too, not just item and NPC dialogue.
@MrDeathnotefan98 But there's no valid or vivid evidence suggesting that humans were slaves once. Also, to keep the Age of Fire going, anyone who is living can sacrifice themselves and they only sacrifice themselves to ONE bonfire. Gwyn wasn't human and he could sacrifice himself.
@Divinesunone theres no valid evidence on anything to do with that, but bonfires NEED humanity, what do you think the fire keepers are there for? if you look at the soul description for the fire keeper in anor londo it says "A Fire Keeper's soul is a draw for humanity, and held within their bosoms, below just a thin layer of skin, are swarms of humanity that writhe and squirm. Her brass armor serves to disguise this ghastly form."
@MrDeathnotefan98 The Silvers Knights were the original knights. They remained in Anor Londo to protect his daughter and son instead of following him to link the fire. Those that did follow him were burned as he linked the flame and they became the Black Knights. There was no war between them.
@Divinesunone i never said the black and silver knights were at war, gwyn went to battle the demons of chaos at one stage, after or sometime before that (can't remember exactly) gywn went to light the kiln.
@Divinesunone btw, about that part where you said they don't kill humans, think about this, in order to keep the age of fire going, you need bonfires, and what fuels a bonfire? humanity, and where does humanity come from? humans.
@BrunofanofK telling*. btw, the game isn't meant to be plot driven, it's ment to make you work it out on your own, like if this was in real life you aren't going to know that Frampt is lying to you. you have to discover things on your own, not have someone tell you everything, your right, it does have bad story telling, but that's just it, it's not telling you the plot, you must find it.
@Divinesunone and whos said death was evil in the first place? death is probably a blessing to the undead, and to humans who will eventually become undead.
@Divinesunone you are thinking far too contemporary, it's another reason why this game is so fantastic. The age of fire is dying, the old way, weak and being preserved by those who simply benefit the most. So many suffer under the age of fire, and so by ushering the age of Dark-- the age of man, you are bringing process and change, and without those things, when things are stagnant, they might as well be dead. In this case, Dark and death represents moving forward and 'good'.
@Ginger0308 The Age of Dark is not the Age of Man because the gods came from darkness themselves. Kaathe is deluding the playing into believing that the Age of Dark is good.
@TJD005 Mortals are different from humans though. Nito evidently wasn't human. Also, if you actually read the item descriptions and follow the story as told by NPC's, Gwyn is dead which is why there's a tomb dedicated to him that his son protects.
@Divinesunone fire brough life and disperity, heat and could light and dark. Fire is not evel neither good, it is just fire, but Gwyn turned against world fate and estended the fire age, causing a anomaly that spread darkwarth and undeath. Undead are sent to asilum await the end of times, opressed by Gwyn misplaced desire, The lord of man will end the war, without furter flames that reanimate the dead only the live ones will remain... and the dark lord.
@BrunofanofK Yes but the gods themselves came from the Dark which really does away with the Age of Darkness equals The Age of Man theory. When Kaathe says that "they failed him" he was referring to those that refused to do his will: your previous ancestors. The dark sign only came about when the bonfire that Gwyn lit died.
@Divinesunone However; the 4 lords came from darkness. Nito, Gwyn, Pygmy, and Izalith came from the dark grabbing the lord souls from the flames then challenged the dragons.
The age of dark means the dead remain dead now because theres no fire for them to seek out. Only humans full of humanity will remain.
By spreading darkness ud end the undead and demons prowling about.
This is suppose to happen, Gwyn prolongs the inevitable because darkness gives man the power to best him.
@TJD005 Not really because Gwyn killed himself by lighting the flame and thus your theory really doesn't make any sense. Why would Gwyn prologue the "inevitable" because darkness gives man the power to best him? He kills himself just to prevent the darkness and he obviously didn't have any problems with humanity which is why he and the other gods allowed humanity to build several kingdoms and take over the world...
@Divinesunone Gwyn prolongs the Age of fire because he fears the dark, he fears man. The fire gives him and the other Gods their power. That's why u fight him at the very end of the game. He knows your char has the Dark Soul so even if u attempt to keep the flame lit, he attempts to kill you like he killed pygmy.
Once ur char follows the dark path Kaathe wants you to spread darkness or basically light out the rest of the flames. So the age of mortaility or "Man" begins.
@Divinesunone BUT! people would be fighting and killing one another. Sucking one anothers humanity out using the dark hand like the 4 kings and the darkwraiths to stay alive. Because if u ran out of humanity ud die rather than go hollow... because theres no flame for the dead to be attracted to.
This is what I picture during the age of dark.
Gwyn breaks the balance by prolonging his age.Which is y some were cursed by the darksign. You live to die. immortalitiy = suffering.
I also had this ending, BTW you only can get this ending if you kill the fourth kings before you go to anor londo. This ending is the best, even the BGM was good. I Hope someone has it and will put it on YouTube.
Not gonna lie, if you were able to get Solaire alive at the end in order to summon him he really made the fight with Gwyn trivial.
I'd get two hits in, he'd attack me. Then Solaire got his hits in, Gwyn attacked him. Gwyn's AI just agros to what ever is attacking him at the moment. Hell Solaire was even alive at the end so I got a Sunlight Medal.
this is'nt really an evil ending "the dark" as kaathe calls it really is just the dark age :/ which was just boring no magic no dragons no nothing just plague and disease and crusades our history actually x -o
I WANT THAT ENDING D: It's way cooler than the "good" ending. Also...see this thread for more speculations/facts about the story line at the PreparetoDie forums go to viewtopic.php ? f=18&t=5758
@tunes243 It's an armour you get for joining the Darkwraiths and killing 30 players through invasions. I could barely get the PVP to work, sadly, so I went the alternate route of offering 30 humanity.
Joining the Darkwraiths is a little convoluted, so it'd be easier for you to check the wiki or a guide than writing it down from memory. Just don't give the lordvessel away before the four kings fight, you need it!
@Kingme1800 It's actually a little easier than that - you just walk out after the last boss fight without going near the bonfire that's in the centre of the room. Pretty sure you'd get this ending even if you acted like a saint up until that part.

If u had a Darksign or a very powerful soul u were immortal. Kaathe plans to start the age of death that removes Darksigns and immortality .

So the good ending is if you link the fire and the bad ending is if you don't?
Sorry can someone just explain whats going on in simple terms, this game as much as i love it is really giving me a headache so far as the story is concerned......
sirAthrus 2 months ago
@sirAthrus This isnt really true... No one has comepletely pieced together the endings truth. People say the good ending is this one since you start the age of man, others say it is bad.

@sonicadx I guess it's a case of:
"The end is what you make of it".

MrDeathnotefan98 3 months ago 18
@MrDeathnotefan98 But isn't The Dark Lord the enemy of all men, because he's a darkwraith?
HALPCat 1 month ago
@HALPCat the 'dark' is representing man in a metaphorical sense, since humans are full of potential to be evil, we are the only know beings capable of true evil, the 'dark' is representing that side of man.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Still, I thought that humans were born through fire and that fire was needed to preserve life, and dark was the sign of the undead and that the dark wraiths (the Dark Lord is basically a darkwraith, as said by Kaathe) use their dark hand to suck out the humanity out of people, essentially making them undead?
HALPCat 1 month ago
@HALPCat everything came from fire, before than it was only dragons, but the furtive pygmy found the dark soul and went into hiding and waited for the age of fire to subside to have the dark remain. and while the pygmy was in hiding the human race and the undead were the evolved pygmys, and the undead are descendant from the furtive pygmy (who had the dark soul) and a marked with the dark sign.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@HALPCat actually no, dark was around before fire and everything came from dark, as the intro movie shows us.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@HALPCat "from the dark they came" is the intro of humans and darkwarth
BrunofanofK 1 month ago
@BrunofanofK "and found the souls of lords, within the flame" and who was it that found the flames? izilith, gwyn, nito and the pygmy, there for stating that everything came from dark.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@HALPCat known*
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Technically though, we don't really know which one is good or bad, which is part of what makes the endings that much more awesome. Kaathe is the leader of the Dark Wraith Covenant, which is evil. This means that that Kaathe says could all be a load of bullshit, but again, we don't really know for sure. It's all conjecture in the end.
pokos33 1 month ago
@pokos33 well good ending was a false statement, its the 'right' ending, i personally dont see either as 'good', i mean if you look at the history and how gwyn, and his family saw the humans and undead as, it was tyranny, pretty much like the creek gods, however the age of dark is something new, but if its good or bad is unknown, the dark wraiths are probably evil if you're on the god's side, but 'dark' is just a metaphor towards the corruption that man can bring.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Good point. I hadn't considered it in the way.
pokos33 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 well said dude. for anyone interested, after you get the lordvessel, speak to kaath(hope i got this right) first, he is in the abyss after you kill the 4 kings. he will share all with you
Xenebrius 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Gwyndolin was tricking Frampt too, he didn't know about the whole gwynevere is only an illusion-thing. Kaathe even mentions this when you talk to him.
CanderousXOrdo 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Not really. This is the evil ending. Look at what the Darkwraith armor represents, death. Look at what you're called: Dark Lord. Look at what Kaathe says: Let true dark be cast upon the world. Kaathe tricks the player into thinking that The Age of Darkness equals age of man but in truth, the Age of Darkness is true to its namesake and only brings darkness to the world ending fire, heat, life and balance overall.
Divinesunone 1 month ago
@Divinesunone dude, neither of the endings are good, all the age of fire benefited was gwyndolin, as he was the last remaining deity, and you know what he thinks of humans and the undead? take a look at what gwyndolin is wearing, he has a sun shaped helmet at the top, symbolizing that the sun is at the top (his father) then you have him in the middle, and snakes at the bottem, snakes symbolize the undead and man, and as you can see is is riding on those snakes like slaves.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 he is*
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 That's untrue. His sister still exists as does her husband. They simply left Lordran with the rest of the gods. The snakes on the other hand could easily represent the snakemen that the gods placed in Sen's Fortress which was a testing ground of the gods. And death is not evil but death without life is evil. The Age of Fire brought both and life and death which is needed.
Divinesunone 1 month ago
@Divinesunone nope it even says on one of the rings, a snake is the symbol for the undead, also, even if the other gods still remain, qwyndolin is the only remaining deity in lordran. and everything in the game was born from dark, the intro movie even says that.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Yes. The gods came from darkness themselves which really destroys the Age of Darkness being the Age of Human theory.
Divinesunone 4 weeks ago
@Divinesunone not really, as the gods gained power with the flame, thus why they don't want the age of fire to end.
MrDeathnotefan98 4 weeks ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 No. The gods found the Lord Soul whereas your ancestor found the Dark Soul. There's no humanity in either. If the gods found the Dark Soul, that doesn't automatically make their age the right one. Just because a human found the Dark Soul, doesn't make the Dark Soul good.
Both souls are used to empower those that possesses them. So if you want to look at in another view, both characters are bad.
Divinesunone 3 weeks ago
@Divinesunone i already corrected that neither are good, but the point is, the age of fire only benefits gwyn and the other deity's, the age of dark brings forth change, an weather its bad or good change is irrelevant because that's how things change as the age of dark could make other events occur that move the world forward, which gwyn was trying to stop, the age of fire from changing into something he can't control.
MrDeathnotefan98 3 weeks ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Gwyn is dead though. Look at him next time you fight him. He's practically hollow. His son (Gwyndolin) has built a tomb for him which he sits by all day and night and further proof that Gwyn is dead is the fact that he doesn't leave the Kiln. Gwyndolin (through Gwynevere's illusion) states that his father died after lighting the flame. Gwyn's soul description: "Lord Gwyn bequeathed most of his power to the
Gods, and burned as cinder for the First Flame."
Divinesunone 3 weeks ago 5
@Divinesunone he spent most of his time trying to keep the age of fire going, lighting the kilin was his last resort, and besides, it still doesnt change the fact he is trying to prevent the inevitable, change, even if you did light the fire again, it will eventually die off, and dark will move in.
MrDeathnotefan98 3 weeks ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Where is your source that says that he spent most of his time trying to keep The Age of Fire going? Lighting the first bonfire was his first choice. The Darkness is evitable for people can keep lighting the fire every few centuries or so. Yeah, one person dies but many more will die if the Darkness comes and if we do bring the darkness, who is to say that Kaathe won't try to keep it eternal? Both endings have bad consequences. In a way, there's no "good" ending.
Divinesunone 3 weeks ago
@Divinesunone wheres your source of proof of gwyn and his family being good rulers? how do you know they were good or no? i personally beliave they are tyrants and once again, they still tried to stop the inevitable, which is change, without change the world would be stuck in time. 'dark' does not mean evil, dark could also mean unknown, we don't actually know if 'dark' is evil. as the age of dark, is the age of man. what we are. (look at next post)
MrDeathnotefan98 3 weeks ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 Gwyn didn't kill humans. Gwyndolin didn't kill humans and Gwyn's firstborn founded The Warriors of Sunlight and if the hints are anything to go by, Gwyn's firstborn is Solaire (who lost his deity status) who we all know is the nicest NPC in the game. The gods also grant humans miracles to heal.
Divinesunone 2 weeks ago
@Divinesunone umm, if you look at solaire is he obviously and out casted deity, which is why he is "looking for his own sun." and they may not have killed humans but they definitely saw them as servants or even slaves, a snake is a symbol of the undead, gwyndolin rides on snakes, which is more symbolism to this point, you gotta look for symbolism too, not just item and NPC dialogue.
MrDeathnotefan98 2 weeks ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 But there's no valid or vivid evidence suggesting that humans were slaves once. Also, to keep the Age of Fire going, anyone who is living can sacrifice themselves and they only sacrifice themselves to ONE bonfire. Gwyn wasn't human and he could sacrifice himself.
Divinesunone 1 week ago
@Divinesunone theres no valid evidence on anything to do with that, but bonfires NEED humanity, what do you think the fire keepers are there for? if you look at the soul description for the fire keeper in anor londo it says "A Fire Keeper's soul is a draw for humanity, and held within their bosoms, below just a thin layer of skin, are swarms of humanity that writhe and squirm. Her brass armor serves to disguise this ghastly form."
MrDeathnotefan98 1 week ago
@Divinesunone and humanity comes from humans (obviously), undead are a bi product of humans who have lost humanity, and eventually go insane.

@Divinesunone and there are many item descriptions that suggest other battles gywn and his knights have been in other than the dragons.
MrDeathnotefan98 3 weeks ago
@Divinesunone well not many, but there was another battle, which explains why thee are silver and black knights.
MrDeathnotefan98 3 weeks ago
@MrDeathnotefan98 The Silvers Knights were the original knights. They remained in Anor Londo to protect his daughter and son instead of following him to link the fire. Those that did follow him were burned as he linked the flame and they became the Black Knights. There was no war between them.
Divinesunone 2 weeks ago
@Divinesunone i never said the black and silver knights were at war, gwyn went to battle the demons of chaos at one stage, after or sometime before that (can't remember exactly) gywn went to light the kiln.
MrDeathnotefan98 2 weeks ago
@Divinesunone btw, about that part where you said they don't kill humans, think about this, in order to keep the age of fire going, you need bonfires, and what fuels a bonfire? humanity, and where does humanity come from? humans.

@BrunofanofK telling*. btw, the game isn't meant to be plot driven, it's ment to make you work it out on your own, like if this was in real life you aren't going to know that Frampt is lying to you. you have to discover things on your own, not have someone tell you everything, your right, it does have bad story telling, but that's just it, it's not telling you the plot, you must find it.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@Divinesunone and whos said death was evil in the first place? death is probably a blessing to the undead, and to humans who will eventually become undead.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@Divinesunone you are thinking far too contemporary, it's another reason why this game is so fantastic. The age of fire is dying, the old way, weak and being preserved by those who simply benefit the most. So many suffer under the age of fire, and so by ushering the age of Dark-- the age of man, you are bringing process and change, and without those things, when things are stagnant, they might as well be dead. In this case, Dark and death represents moving forward and 'good'.
Ginger0308 1 month ago
@Ginger0308 i agree, and even if it is evil, it still brings the change needed, so that everything keeps moving forward.
MrDeathnotefan98 1 month ago
@Ginger0308 The Age of Dark is not the Age of Man because the gods came from darkness themselves. Kaathe is deluding the playing into believing that the Age of Dark is good.
Divinesunone 4 weeks ago
@Divinesunone When the Gods came from Dark they were mortals until they found the four lord souls and after Gwyn lit the flame.
TJD005 4 weeks ago
@TJD005 Mortals are different from humans though. Nito evidently wasn't human. Also, if you actually read the item descriptions and follow the story as told by NPC's, Gwyn is dead which is why there's a tomb dedicated to him that his son protects.
Divinesunone 3 weeks ago
@Divinesunone fire brough life and disperity, heat and could light and dark. Fire is not evel neither good, it is just fire, but Gwyn turned against world fate and estended the fire age, causing a anomaly that spread darkwarth and undeath. Undead are sent to asilum await the end of times, opressed by Gwyn misplaced desire, The lord of man will end the war, without furter flames that reanimate the dead only the live ones will remain... and the dark lord.
BrunofanofK 1 month ago
@BrunofanofK Yes but the gods themselves came from the Dark which really does away with the Age of Darkness equals The Age of Man theory. When Kaathe says that "they failed him" he was referring to those that refused to do his will: your previous ancestors. The dark sign only came about when the bonfire that Gwyn lit died.
Divinesunone 4 weeks ago
@Divinesunone However; the 4 lords came from darkness. Nito, Gwyn, Pygmy, and Izalith came from the dark grabbing the lord souls from the flames then challenged the dragons.
The age of dark means the dead remain dead now because theres no fire for them to seek out. Only humans full of humanity will remain.
By spreading darkness ud end the undead and demons prowling about.
This is suppose to happen, Gwyn prolongs the inevitable because darkness gives man the power to best him.
TJD005 1 month ago
@TJD005 Pygmy? I believe you mean the four kings, and on another note, Who is the pygmy? Is it Artorias?
AdamFoley19950 1 month ago
@TJD005 Not really because Gwyn killed himself by lighting the flame and thus your theory really doesn't make any sense. Why would Gwyn prologue the "inevitable" because darkness gives man the power to best him? He kills himself just to prevent the darkness and he obviously didn't have any problems with humanity which is why he and the other gods allowed humanity to build several kingdoms and take over the world...
Divinesunone 4 weeks ago
@Divinesunone Gwyn prolongs the Age of fire because he fears the dark, he fears man. The fire gives him and the other Gods their power. That's why u fight him at the very end of the game. He knows your char has the Dark Soul so even if u attempt to keep the flame lit, he attempts to kill you like he killed pygmy.
Once ur char follows the dark path Kaathe wants you to spread darkness or basically light out the rest of the flames. So the age of mortaility or "Man" begins.
TJD005 4 weeks ago
@Divinesunone BUT! people would be fighting and killing one another. Sucking one anothers humanity out using the dark hand like the 4 kings and the darkwraiths to stay alive. Because if u ran out of humanity ud die rather than go hollow... because theres no flame for the dead to be attracted to.
This is what I picture during the age of dark.
Gwyn breaks the balance by prolonging his age.Which is y some were cursed by the darksign. You live to die. immortalitiy = suffering.
TJD005 1 month ago
I also had this ending, BTW you only can get this ending if you kill the fourth kings before you go to anor londo. This ending is the best, even the BGM was good. I Hope someone has it and will put it on YouTube.

Its true i had the same thing, i saved Solaire, so i summond him in the last fight with Gwyn, he stayed alive and gave me a sunlight medal.
youssefm 3 months ago
Not gonna lie, if you were able to get Solaire alive at the end in order to summon him he really made the fight with Gwyn trivial.
I'd get two hits in, he'd attack me. Then Solaire got his hits in, Gwyn attacked him. Gwyn's AI just agros to what ever is attacking him at the moment. Hell Solaire was even alive at the end so I got a Sunlight Medal.
