There was obviously a lot of peer pressure there, some of the girls clearly didn't really want to do it... but how does it help? A good fund raser could have raised the money without the haircuts, there is no link between the 'sacrifice' and the good cause.

How about getting sponsered to help out at a hospice for a week? That would both raise money & give direct support to the victims.

Less attention for the exhibitionist types who usually drive this sort of thing, though...

Why would anyone donate MORE money to cancer research than they otherwise would just b/c hair is being shaved? If I thought that PR stunts could REALLY cure cancer, I'd be all for it. All the girls looked great with hair. The blondie is model beautiful. I think that people get caught up in PC silliness, to tell the world they care. If you are a loving person, it shows through your personality all the time.

Just to clarify for someone who posted earlier:

The fundraiser was for cancer care and treatment, not research.

Perhaps you don't know many who have had to seek treatment for the disease, or any disease of that seriousness, but the medical bills and equipment are costly.

This event was more than just an egotistic way to look selfless.

Sometimes, "PR stunts" have an interesting way of reminding the big crowds that there still are optimistic possibilities left out in the world.

I definitely don't understand who needs to see what todonate for Cancer. I know people who gives every year and they don't need this.

Sure it was emotionnal for those who were there, who saw how horrible it was.

People who watch these videos on Internet are a little different, trust me... They will not donate for cancer, but just take theit fun by watching this, and will give money to see more on specialized websites!

Just adding to end one thing regarding to report seen on TV yesterday night.

As far as I know head shaving in France had been practice at end of WW2 as punishment for women who fuck with the german or collaborate with them. I was also done in Germany to women who had relations with prisonners during WW2.

This only punishment and hate toward people, so really bad memory!

Don't call this event stupid or insane. It was incredibly emotional and not a single person took "pleasure" from watching over 42 students shave their heads.

If you don't respect the fact that a whole bunch of amazing kids decided to raise money for cancer (about $64 000) and donate their hair to create wigs for cancer patients, then some Prozac would do you some good.

Actually, I went to this high school, I know all of those girls, and as far as I can remember at least two of them had boyfriends at the time and were still with those boyfriends long after shaving their heads. They are all beautiful girls who did a beautiful thing, KSS does it every year and has raised thousands of dollars from it.

Also, since you're so horribly misinformed, if you were a prisoner from Auschwitz, you would more than likely be dead, not walking around with a shaved head.
