  • Wonderful.. It is as though you expressed the undercurrent of sorrow and angst of the music with your interpretation of dance. Brava!

  • beautiul beautiful beautifull, in all aspects.. respect to you , thank you for this dance..

  • Some stuff could have grown but i leave it as it is.

This is Spiegel im Spiegel to me, that night, that place and that moves swinging on the melody.

Thank u so much for the support and sharing!

    I appreciate...

    Nat

  • I just want to thank all of you for posting comments on this piece...Your words touch me very deeply, and reading all of them, i simply would like to say artists express and create themselves from different visions as people do. That' s what i did there. One night during which i felt no struggle making the beautiful music score, that it is, be mine for a second. Cause i really meant what came out, and was in harmony with what i was saying.

  • So many contemporary dance pieces seem to involve a lot of extraneous movement that expresses very little--except the dancer's technique. it's time for some meaningful minimalism in dance. In short, other music could have been playing during this choreography and nothing would have had to be changed in the choreography. Forsythe often changes his music before a premiere and none of the choreography gets changed. I don't get it.

  • It makes me think deep and reflect. For that I thank you for posting it. For those who knock it, I can only think that you watch too much daytime TV? Or read the Guardian.

  • I think that people who comment without contextual reference are only exposing their lack of education and limited intellect. Do some research! This piece of music is immensely complex. There is even a wikipedia explanation of the piece. You don't have to look very hard. It is only the ignorant who denigrate that which they do not understand.

  • Great song and great dancing! Thanks for posting!

  • To say its not good because it's simple is just awesomely DUMB. It's just so beautiful. If I could write something so beautiful and so simple......I'd be both hugely proud.....and very rich.

  • Beautiful piece of choreography. The dancer has such fluidity in her movement. I loved every minute of it. Beautiful!!

  • Wonderfull in every melody that softly falls from his fingers x

  • thanks for posting, very beautiful and professional, but for me some of the movements are a little too strong an energetic for this kind of minimalistic music ...

  • I enjoyed this very much. Thank you!!! Greetings from Rhodes,Greece!!!

  • a compelling performance

  • lots of talk...lots of comments....put it all away...this is beautiful music...

  • Bravo, well said 'warspite0... Just listen and enjoy this sublime piece of beautiful music. So clean and simple yet sparks a million thoughts and memories... Thanks for posting this fabulous tune 'desiderium1', it is awe inspiring... :0)x

  • this is very surprising ... but that 's what is nice about it .

  • I understand shnimmuc's point, however, this not a piece about complex musical thought: it is about piercing simlicity and directness and, as such, succeeds brilliantly. Though myself a professional musician, most untrained ears cannot process, much less appreciate, the complexity of Bach's Fugues, for example.

However, this music can (and does) effectively reach those people AND be appreciated for both it's simplicity and sheer purity of spirit by trained and untrained ears alike...

  • Nailed it. I am a music lover, but have no musical education (whatsoever).

But I love Part. It really wakes something inside me.

  • Beauty is about subtle balances. The music here brings some joy, some contentment, just in the right proportions. The ballet matches the secret elements.

    Outstanding.

  • Who ever put that horrible advert on this beautiful piece, which really desecrates the experience, just has no soul or feeling, youre a robot out for commerce.

  • That horrible advert is indeed killing the experience. I very much wonder about people who make that kind of choices.

That being said, YouTube has a function to the right, at the bottom of the vid, so you can switch it off.

I know that hardly prevents the ad from starting, but at least you can watch the rest of the vid without it.

  • amazing.....

  • Its touching...you can feel a lot of sensations and emotions like sadness and love at same time with this piece

  • While I respect Bach's genius and musicality as much as the next music lover, I must humbly disagree with you. I do not believe complexity is what makes it impressive or mediocre. Bach expressed emotion through complex, layered melodies. Minimalism expresses the same emotions, but through a different means: simple, elegance. To state that a composition is "written for dead people" simply because the notes of the song are few and far between, is a statement that I think would even make Bach sigh.

  • I doubt anyone could have said this any better. thank you.

  • @DancingPancake comment from England - - -Goodness !!

  • @DancingPancake Totally agree :) whatever the style of music it can still be just as brilliant.

Except 'organised sound' and 'musique concrete'. They are pish... :P

  • thats the special thing on arvo pärts music

    ...the simplicity !!!

he could write more difficult pieces if he would want to, but difficulty is not what makes music great...

  • Hail shnimmuc! You surely must be the most musical person on the planet.

I'm convinced that as a result you like just one piece of music from a 1000 year old classical history.

    Only the best for you!

I am sure you are an inspiration to many.

PS, you obviously fail to get the purified brittleness in Pärt's composing, its ENORMOUS reference frame and its deep humanity.

That's OK, really, but it should just mean that you're a trifle more modest, and less aggressive towards people who do get it.

  • Not only is the music haunting, and spectacularly written... but the dance is awesome too...

  • Beautiful and amazing.

    Thank you.

  • Very interesting work!

  • does anybody know any other music like this?? i really like it =]

  • Philip Glass's violin concerto is beautiful as well.

  • Arvo Pärt Für Alina - and the CD by Arvo Pärt : Alina

  • That is such a moving song it touches the soul.

  • Spiegel im Spiegel as the title says :) Arvo Pärt

  • Don´t know why the choreographer decided to set such a fast pace for the dancer... music is so peaceful...

  • I think that it makes such a great contrast, and that's why they did it...

  • Merci pour cette si belle année Mina : ) A tres bientot ^^

  • Tout simplement Magnifique ..

    ( L `

  • I think only one word can describe both the dance, and the piece of music.... "wow"

  • Timless, endless joy, uplifting the spirit enhancing the soul.

  • So priveliged to see such beauty and hear heavan, tasting my tears of joy, sadness, happiness. complete, thanks for the vison, thanks.

  • beautiful

  • Siegel im Mirror...

    Mirror in Espejo ...

    Espejo en Espelho ...

    Espelho em Mirroir...

    Mirroir en Ispilu ...

  • The dancing and music are both fabulous. I tend to agree with Katiesaik in the two not going together. While I agree with Spookysaurus in the tension created by what I might call discord it doesn't create the emotional impact that I might have received from a congruent interpretation of the piece.

As with all things artistic, beauty is in the eye - and ear - of the beholder.

  • I can't help thinking that katiesaik has missed the point here. This music has such an extraordinary fragility, and it is exactly the more earthbound style of the choreography that provides the necessary visual counterfoil to that. Together, the two create a tension that makes this a moving performance to watch.

  • the music was used in van Sant's Gerry, correct? mesmerizing :)

  • The dancing is beautiful, but I don't really think the choreography matches the piece. It's missing a legato and fluidity that could really make it touching to the viewer. It seems to fiery and choppy for this music.

  • Amazing

  • Beautiful music and dancing.

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank you for this beautiful piece. You are

such a good dancer. I'd love to see more of your work. Can I suggest you come to Greece for one of our many international dance platforms?

  • The piece (by Arvo Pärt) is called "Spiegel im Spiegel" or "Mirror in the Mirror".

This is beautiful Natacha, thank you. Both your choreography and dancing are just right for the piece. So many people swamp Pärt's music with excess. You have achieved an intricate simplicity if that's possible.

  • What is the name of that song?

  • Susan.

    I love you.

    Tommy.x.

  • Beautiful!

  • so melancholic...

is it a Mats Ek choregaphy?

  • no it s not Mats Ek choreography

    it s from me..
