I went to Cairo 3 years ago it was amazing. People I spoke to there say there is a really big divide in the rich and the poor. I wonder why this is if in islam one of the five pillars is to give zakat 2.5% of your earnings is a lot! If the rich are so rich why are the poor so poor, its a big problem in cairo hope it can be resolved....

I agree When I first visited Egypt In oct 09 the first few day were very hard going outside seeing the dirty garbage filled streets and the extreme povetry. But Egypt is truly my home I married my husband there and Im so happy to return home(cairo) in just 11days :D Bahebak ya Masry!!! mmuwah

have a great trip seeing your husband ,and yes the extreeme poverty is hardto see ,, saw that alot in morocco also, i didnt live in the tourist areas i went really deep in parts of cairo and theres things i wished i never seen, but hey i also went to newyork city to queens and saw things also,. theres good and bad everywhere , and even tho theres hard times there, i always go back, its egypt, its home , what can ya say, have a safe trip and a pleasant reunion with hubby!

Was So nice to see all my family again especially the Husband, was a really laid back trip this time mostly stayin cairo but we did go to Alex for a few day, we found a great fllat right on the Sea it was so nice we took romanitc walks on the beach at night :D but the best new is I'm finally movin to Egypt in Febuarry inshallah :DDD

I saw goats being slaughtered on the street and children playing on rubbish dumps (which are everywhere) people were living in absolute poverty, and it upset me to see that they live like this. and it made me so grateful for being British.

I'm very sorry to say that I saw nothing that I would consider to be good points, and of course there's poverty in Britain but not on the scale of Cairo, we have a system here that prevents poverty on that level. My comment was in regards to my sympathy for the people living there and not in anyway meant as a slur against them.. but it did make me realise how very lucky I am to live in my wonderful country.

I went to Cairo full of expectations and thought I would be in awe of the sights..sadly this was not the case,as the treatment of defenceless animals was quite possibly beyond anything I could have imagined.. So what I saw with my eyes actually broke my heart and it still upsets me when I think about it.. You may love Cairo and that is entirely up to you..I however, do not...

yes i do agree that the animals there arent treated the best, thats why i got involved and i now work with emro,, egyptian mau rescue originization and some other places to rehome these animals to another country,, in these originiations we take cats and dogs off the street and we get them adopted by other people , we also take and offer free spay and nuetering to try to cut down the pet population, were just running low on funds but weredoing what we can with as lil resorces as we have,
