I'm Vietnamese myself and I love Japanese the most,because it sounds so cute and I highly interest in Japanese culture,manga,anime,Jpop,etc..­. My number 2 choice is Mandarin Chinese coz I think it sounds really smooth,musical and cool :)

I personally prefer any sourthern Chinese language coz they are closer to real accient Chinese language comparing to those northern mongolian-like languages for example Mandarian.

@sangecoa mandarin is called 普通话 for a reason (ie "the normal language") get your facts right

@rickyricky1231 get ur facts right okay ??? every language in world is as normal as they were meant to be developed. mandarin may be referrer as a common chinese language or standard chinese for its large amount of speakers . but this does not necessarily mean to have every chinese like it !!! it is not a matter of right or wrong neither the matter of good or bad. I merely express my personal preference here !! and what should I get the facts right ??

@rickyricky1231 I did not say it is Mongolian okay? I said it is Mongolian-like !!! And it is true !!! The Mandarin was developed during the study of Chinese language by Manchu ppl who were used to speak Manchu language which belongs to the same family of Mongolian. And hence, the Mandarin is a strongly Mongolian influenced Chinese language. Even by the end of Qing dynasty it was still mostly used among officials!!

It's really sad because from a linguist point of view ALL OF YOU CAME FROM CHINESE!

Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese are all Chinese in derivation. In fact, intelligent people can and should be able to understands phonetically (or make out somewhat) other languages next to China (Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc)

@mekon11 chinese language? There is no "chinese language". many people are confused becausee the chinese gov calls them dialects. (to enforce unity) truth is there are at least 8 languages within china. each language has its own dialects. cantonese and mandarin are two different "languages" canto sounds more like viet than mandarin. and shanghainese (dialect of wu LANGUAGE) sounds closer to japanese than mandarin. calling chinese a language is like calling european a language.
