She needs to be lent some dignity, as all innocent dead persons do, so the murderers dont get so much empahsis and more is done to get to know the vicitms. Talent or no, flawed, beautiful or not, living or not, all humans deserve to be valued for how they live.. Its like beating up a baby to defame and criticize the dead. She could have been a maid in a school and I would have said something of a similar character.

I agree. People seem to empathise with the killers and want to live through them vicariously and experience the danger of crossing social taboos, as though it were fiction. They forget that these were real murders. Peoples' homes were invaded in the night, and their lives were stolen from them in brutal fashion. There is nothing to admire in the Manson family. They were a drug addicted, venereal diseased prostitution ring, turned murderers.

(cont')Their reference to the bikini as just being accepted seems almost comical in this new millenium! Sharon Tate lost a role on Petticoat Junction because she had posed nude. Network TV today has limited nudity and the use of words unheard of then. I find the beginnings of any major changes in the norms of society interesting. I also feel Miss Tate's views on the subject discussed still quite valid today.

On that 8/9/69 my friend and I went to Yankee Stadium in New York to the Old Timers Day. We didnt hear any news but I bought a Daily News before going on the bus and thats when I saw the news about Sharon and was really upset. I really liked her and for some reason was thinking about her the day before and Ive always wondered if I had some sort of ESP. I still have that paper and always around this time of year I think of her a lot. Especially this year.

Sharon had been in a few pictures and she was rising as a film star. She was a gorgeous girl of course but she seemed such a sweet "girl next door" type if you know what I mean. I'm not sure who I would compare her with today.

It was, granted, an insipid program. more indicative of the time and the host than the people in it. They cant be defined by this.
