What a beautiful song, thanks for uploading this performance! Besides rainbows and oil, it also made me think about sand and glass and the wonder of the process of glass making, by heating sand. The airy reflective feeling seems related to 'Weather With You' by Crowded House from New Zealand. Maybe it’s a kind of universal immigrant melancholy.
I followed this band to every pub, club and uni bar gig around Melbourne. They were awesome. I've almost never loved a band so much. I agree with hrhcrab - so underrated.
i lived these beautifull days daze ;-) young and it all in front of me memories in sydney seeing this band everywhere they went still remember the parting coment on the last show see you on the reformation tour ;-)))))) they had a big impact on me always loved them
Ah the Clouds. Loved them, loved them, loved them.
I consider myself blessed that my immediate akward years just out of school were experienced with the superb sweet sound that this triumph of an aussie band delivered to me and those around me. I paid my dues - by what felt like single handedly spreading the word about this band in my sleepy home town whenever I had the chance.
That was such a great year for Australian music. Loved this song back then. Still do it seems... going over to itunes to buy it now :) Thanks for the tip Julesm4!
wow... Jodi and Patricia with long hair, it seems like millions of years ago. seeing them in this format in the video here reminds me The Annandale circa 1990 with people screaming out "drum solo!"
good old clouds ,i saw this band in sydney they were great live . shame they never made it around the world.thanks for posting this video,keep up the good work guys.
I can't believe there are others out there who spent their days in Red Eye etc. Finally some chicks who could play Rickenbackers (along with Lush from the UK) Jodi and Trish had great harmonies and great melodies. Where's Trish now?And anyone remember the Honeys on Waterfront?
Damn Red Eye was so expensive but they had rare stuff. I used to got to Pitt st. at those 3 or 4 second hand stores that were right next to each other and spend hours upon hours finding stuff I cherished for years
I've been looking for this song for ages, a classic recording from a great period for Aussie bands... but it's spoilt a bit by the fact that there's only audio in the right hand side - what happened there? I'm guessing it's mono but why just one side of stereo?
Hey so did I, used to go in on A sat morning, start at the old Red Eye in the Amex (now NRMA) building downstairs, then to Metropolis in Mid-City Centre, then down George St to all the 2nd hand stores and Phantom, then Waterfront when it was down near Central Station....fantastic times and fantastic music....
Beautiful song, embodies all the hopefulness that pop should. I recall hearing it on JJJ in what, 1990? in my lounge room in Glebe, in the days when you could actually have the radio on without wanting to change channel every second song. Went straight out and bought the 7". Still their best song I reckon. I saw them at the first Big Day Out, everyone else, but for a few thousand die-hard pop fans, was watching Nirvana. Their loss.
so many memories watching and listening tothese clouds songs - remember seeing them in brissie years ago they were awesome and loved them since, and rediscoveredthen here. many thanks
Thanks for posting this vid, I have been looking for it on You Tube for a while now. Clouds deserved a lot more credit than they got.I remember listening to this song in the Terrace House in Newtown I lived in the early 1990's.
@Cnutlyass, Agreed...what an era.

I find I get both channels when I listen in HQ - why this should be (that stereo should feature as special high quality) is anyone's guess.

I loved all the early Clouds dongs, like this one - and then they got heavy and obsessed. A real shame!
Anyone know what Jodi and Trish are doing now?
