  • I'd love to have a track of the b/g vocals

  • This song kind of reminds me of "Beautiful Boy".

  • mmm, lovely song...

  • 須磨浜

  • 砂浜

  • Mike Love wasn't Brian Wilson, but then again, nobody was. The idea that he was some anti-musical, non-sensitive lug who just pulled the Beach Boys down is silly though. He was a musician in his own right and this song shows off some of his sensitive, creative side.

  • those 2 people have not got taste in good music

  • I was very privileged to see one of the best Beach Boys concerts of all time, 1979 at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. They performed Sumahama and it was magical. I met Mike Love in 1981 and discussed this song with him. He said a Japanese girl gave him the idea to write this song. It's based on a girl whose father was presumably an American soldier. Growing up fatherless, she asks questions about her missing father. And so the song goes. Mike said the Japanese lyrics were translated to hi

  • Not a bad song actually. I was expecting this to be one of the boys' worst. I actually like it, not the lyrics, but it's still a decent track with an interesting feel.

  • I dont know what to say about this song, for me the lyrics are terrible but the rythm is good :/

  • Mike Love is a great musician!

    I love this album...

  • This is Mike Love through and through. Yuck.

  • @Karateworm Mike wrote this song. Did a good job on Japanese.

  • @Skullitor According to Japanese fans, the Japanese segment doesn't actually make any sense...

  • good lord this is terrible

  • @cuddlesducks Agreed. I'm a massive Beach Boy fans.. but this is them at their worst.

  • @cuddlesducks you can go away then

  • I went to 須磨浜 (Sumahama) yesterday. It's a pretty nice beach. Maybe I'll go to Bermuda or Kokomo next. The Beach Boys give pretty good travel advice.

  • Heard this one on the radio while in Dorset !!! didn't know it was these guys...love it thanks..

  • Are the non English lyrics French ?

  • Japanese...Sumahama

  • Oh thanks. I haven't heard this song, since, I lost my L.A. Light album.

  • The end of the seventies and early eighties brought a few decent tracks some sadly forgotten.

  • Probably one of their most under-rated songs. Brilliant none the less.

  • Love this song, brings back so many memories.

  • Sabahatone your a disgrace to my people go feed on the altar of your shame.

  • Great song alright, only for the pure Protestant people though.

  • I've listened to a lot of Beach Boys songs, and I hate admitting that this is the first time I've heard "Sumahama". I feel so ashamed for not having heard this song before. Thanks much for uploading.

  • いつの頃の曲でしょう?

    いい曲ですが、ちょっと物悲しい感じがしますね。

  • sabahatone your Da still abusing you, what a perv

  • Jillyboz=sabahatone =Kennoz = three disillusioned kincora freaks, within one super Protestant freak.

  • jilly this is not the first time this paedophile has tried to groom a young girl for sex over the internet for sex,he was arrested for it in ireland a while back and also uses the alias shinnerhater amongst others, this is one dangerous man towards children.

  • Jilly ur little sis still doing the lines LOL, saddddddddddd.

  • ラジオ関西

  • yep, loved this song too.

  • i hope you rot in jail for what you have done to that little girl you sick bastard, what kind of person asks a 14 yr olg girl if her dad has stuck it up her backside you paedophile.

  • I have loved this song for years, I really am a sad twat!!!

  • Nothing sad about that, just means you've got good taste in music

  • @CycolacFan Well, this is unusual and rather good. Still, I like better their fresh recordings from the first half of the Sixties.

  • 須磨浜

  • i wish sumahma really existed. i would go there

  • I was always a little confused by this, is the girl called Sumahama as well as the place?

  • Evidently at the time, Mike Love had a Japanese girlfriend called Sumako Kelley and he wrote this in her honor. Just a fact from an old fart. LOL

  • sumahama is actually suma beach in suma, kobe, japan.
