I think it already started in the 90ies when bands like "In The Woods" , "Ved Buens Ende", "Arcturus" or even "Enslaved" began to experiment with other influences and created their style more open and tried to sound different to the so called "True Norwegian Black Metal" bands.
@zuidwijker66 why do people have to try and be so god damn hardcore that they only listen to raw black metal. It's people like that that give metal a bad reputation for taking themselves to seriously. Metal is a genre that pushes the boundaries, if artists didn't decide to go any further with it we would still be listening to Judas Priest and Black Sabbath and not the vast array of sub-genres there are now. I love post-black metal great video.
@zuidwijker66 Yeah but you can only make so many combinations with traditional genres like death, black thrash, power, or traditional. If there was no incorporation of other sounds (such as post-rock) we would only get so many combinations before it got stale. I'm not saying purists are bad, I wouldn't want rap in my metal or something but it is always great to experiment with other sounds like shoegaze or post-rock.
@DarkenedEmptyWorld yeah, the band describes themselves as depressive rock, but the members have several other black metal projects like Austere and Woods of Desolation. Elements of Austere are strongly present in Grey Waters, so I think it is suitable for this video. Thanks for the comment anyway.
I was looking for recommendations.....so thanks :)
I even made my own top 10...of this type of "Black metal" type music...except I have gotten no hits :(

Talentless crap bands flood the music scene with their boring shit.

To even mention this in the same sentence as black metal is just wrong.

I do agree with you that some experiments with black metal is not wrong...Yes, I am a purist if it comes
to black metal.. But I do not think that the purists cause a bad reputation regarding the metal scene...
I just do not like "post black" metal.. That is all...But I do like the black/death metal like Behemoth or
black/thrash like Desaster...You know, every one has a opinion about metal music in general..
By the way, I still listen to Judas Priest and Black Sabbath...

Grey Waters is no Post Black Metal.
It is kind of depressiv rock.

@dunkelheit616
well, the only thing that was a little bit like black metal was
the scream in "Say Goodbye" (I think?)
But well, its good music anyway.
