Personally, if you wanna debate something, I don't get what all the big hoopla is about this song. It's O.K., but I'm not blown away .... just another Blues song. Kelly's version is the "climbing" side to the song: the climb's hard, tiring, and you really just want to stop and turn around sometimes, but you know that what you're striving for is worth it; appropriate for the occasion she was singing for.

Chrystal's is more the "twilight" side, like she's already made the climb: she sings with a kind of wistfulness, I think, like she's remembering the summit and the journey and how it's changed her; again, very appropriate.

I think this is amazing and I preffer its interpretation to the Clarkson interpretation myself.

I appreciate the softer almost spoken word between the bluesly plantive crys.

No question Clarkson has the better diva voice and is an expressive singer herself but the emotion of the song lends itself better to a more maybe "rural" or a sound that seems to come from a character that has typically seen struggles and or unfortunate behaviour throughout their lives.

Everytime I hear this, it blows me away; so incredible beautiful and by far better than Kelly or Patty's version; Kelly seemed removed as she sang while Crystal poured herself into this song; I give Patty credit for writing such a beautiful song and she should be thankful that Crystal breathed life into it and made it well known. If not for Crystal's version I'd have never known the song existed.

Kelly Clarkson did a great job but the guy pickin the guitar kind of ruined it for me. Kelly did seem a bit removed and the guitar might of had something to do with it. Crystal's performance was unconscionable. It was so steep and heart felt. The expressions on her face, 2:16 you could see it was painful and at 2:29 it was joyful. Randy Jackson said, "This was one of the greatest performances." I don't think he was thinking of another cover of this song. UTTM belongs to Bowersox and best ever.
