Brilliant Goalkeeping, i too have to agree with some of the other people who have commented on the video, i feel awkward you being so deep in your goal but some keepers play differently, what hand gear do you use?is all your kit a specific make or all different and why did you choose those pieces of kit? im an obo man myself, love the feeling of it but im just curious and i agree again with the others, i cudnt play without arm guard, i completely lose confidence if im not using all of my kit.
@Imprezgaz thanks for the complement, I understand some people prefer to stand further from the line, I would say that training closer to your line even though you may prefer to "narrow the angle" helps when it comes to real games as you get a better perspective of what is occurring in an around the "ugly zone". Keepers will rarely be beaten by a strike from the top of the D unless it is a very good strike. However a lot of keepers will get beaten by post tap ins and deflections being closer to.
@BryanFantana313 .. the line will help with saving some of those. But of course there are occasions when being further from your line will be beneficial. Its all about finding the right balance and being able to use a range of skills that suit the situation. I have always used OBO but if I were offered TK pads for free I would use them happily.
I liked the aspect of the goals portion because throughout the segment you had some brilliant saves but that portion shows that even a fantastic goalie cant save everything.
If your'e looking for something just to cover your elbows will diving, as in not an elbow guard, cut off the foot of a tube sock and you can slide them over your elbows. And it your looking for good protection try some Reebok ice hockey elbow guards, they're wonderful.
@spartan166 I use a Wasp Z6, short length because I prefer the balance of the stick, I think the Wasp goalie sticks are great and I wouldnt play with anything else now having tried the obo TK , mercian & grays sticks in the past. I have been hit in the arm a few times, stings a bit but no worse than when you get hit on the inside thigh or around the knees. I have been looking for a good pair of elbow guards to protect my skin but I havent seen any I like yet!
@BryanFantana313 You my friend are very brave i had to be moved up 3 grades in hockey cause the keeper shattered every bone in his left arm. how do you do dives and stuff? ive tried playing without arm pads and i just get ripped up.
@BryanFantana313 use tubey grips, thats what i use sometimes and the 1st goalie for my club uses and they work a treat if you just fold them back on themselves so theyre double layered :)
@goalkeeble You may be right, if I was further off my line on those particular shots I may reach them, however I would leave myself with less time to react and accurately clear the ball. I'm not too bothered about letting balls in right in the bottom corner a good low strike is one of the hardest saves to make, i think improving my balance and force from my trailing foot will get me to reach those more difficult shots. The pitch was also wet that evening so my trailing foot was sliding away.

@britteketit
I don't see how elbow protectors are important. I've tried them a few times and I think they limit the movement of my arms too much.
