It's cool to finally hear the music... The arcades used to be so loud that you could never hear the actual music playing from the game, since all of the other games loud music and people talking and shouting would basically drown everything out.
@Aphexwolf OH non nonononononono NO! This game is amazing! One of the greatest arcade beat 'em up's of all time! So much pure fun. And the graphics! It's amazing how well they capture the series, especially considering how early in the series this was.
Would've been great if this came out on consoles, if they did it with turtles in time...no reason X-Men or this couldn't have gotten the same treatment
Great game, great soundtrack. Few companies handled licensed games better than Konami. Ever wonder if the surreal content of this game inspired the show's Japan-related episodes?
I definately agree! This arcade game is better than the Simpsons games made by Acclaim, Electronic Arts, and Vivendi Universal, because Japanese game developers are better at making videogames based off American, Canadian, European, and Australian movie, cartoon, and toy franchises, than American, Canadian, European, and Australian game developers! The Japanese should publish and develop ALL videogames based off of Cartoon Network's, Nickelodeon, Disney XD, and all worldwide cartoons!
ahaha any1 remember playing this with 4 friends at the arcade! When one of you ran out of quarters the convo was sort of like "Dude i died and i have no more coins!" "Dude here take mine reach in to my pocket!" "I cant find it!!1 oh wait here it is!" "Hurry up man! mr burns is killing us!"
should've had a sequel with bosses like sideshow bob, evil animitronic itchy and scratchy, snake, and dracula burns. it would've been cool to have at least a couple more playable characters like barney and nelson.
Oh sure, he has Bazzillions, But the GAzillionares still laugh at him from atop their diamond towers! The real question is, why is Moes bar below a cemetary? And since when is it a mile long with arcade games and gambling tables? And why isn't he helping one of the only people in the world he calls his friend? He's got a shotgun underneath that table.
(Just in case your 1 year old question hadn't been answered yet)
So you answer my question with a sack full of new ones? Brilliant! Maybe someone else will answer your questions a year from yesterday. And then we'll have a laugh together or something, I don't know, I stopped paying attention after "So".
This is the arcade version. the PC port had little to no music if i remember well (i know the c64 had it, but i'm not sure if the music was there in the IBM/Amiga version)
i don't understand why they never ported this game to consoles. i did waste a lot of cash playing this video game whenever i went ot the grocery store though, that's for sure
It was ported over... to the Commodore 64. Probably not the best decision in the world, but I'm not sure that the SNES or Genesis could have handled it without some massive toning it down.
I think Acclaim (now defunct) owned the rights to publish Simpsons games on consoles at the time, relegating this title to arcades and PCs. Acclaim was of course responsible for Bart vs. The Space Mutants, Bart vs. the World, Virtual Bart, etc. :(

Its a shame that this game never made it to the SNES like TMNT did. Why? We will never know.
Having said that, it would have been even better on the SNES, due to the SNES being able to put out better audio and even graphics.
nintygaming 1 year ago
@nintygaming The reason why is because Acclaim bought the video game rights to the Simpsons license shortly after Konami made the arcade game.

The "YOOOOOO!" sound at about the 6 minute mark comes from Noh theater.
I also love that this game has Life in Hell characters.
I really wish that one of the Simpsons DVD sets had a documentary about this game. That would be great.
