I think the walking adds for to an effect as if you were in his shoes when the shooting took place. It may look like shitty cinematography but shooting a scene in one shot isn't exactly the easiest thing to do. One little mess up, gotta start over.

One thing I've noticed about high school movies/shows is that kids are allowed to leave and walk around outside or even go out to lunch. At my school, there is only one entryway that you can exit/enter through (there are other doors but if you open them the fire alarm goes off) you cannot leave the building without signing out, which you cannot do without a signed note from your parents. Plus, teachers take attendance at the beginning of every class and send the attendance list to the office.

I absolutely love when Eric is standing in the middle of the Cafeteria and all of a sudden the "noise" of all of the kids gets increasingly loud, practically overwhelming. I have felt these feelings before. They do a really good job of making the highschool seem like a highschool and not so much like a place where kids just go and have fun and see friends and pretend like it's not totally depressing. If that makes sense.

People keep complaining about the "walking in the hallway". Like someone else said before there's a lot of walking to express that everyday feeling at high school. Things seem pretty much normal, so you wouldn't exactly expect anything like a shooting to occur. It's supposed to show that when things seem "normal" that might not actually be the case.

I think the director was kinda trying to make you feel like you know even though its a big school with a lot of people in it there's still a big feeling of alone-ness, that's why I think there's so much ambiance but very few people..
