Because there weren't even in the top 8 for 90% of the season and they didn't win close to 60 games. Kobe hurt them by taking way too many shots. It worked on a select few night, but screwed them over a lot more.

I personally think Battier is the best perimeter defender I've ever seen. Raja is just an good athletic defender, like Dahntay Jones but better. He got his defensive reputation after the Lakers-Suns playoffs, thus attesting to Kobe being the measuring stick of defensive ability.

Because there weren't even in the top 8 for 90% of the season and they didn't win close to 60 games. Kobe hurt them by taking way too many shots. It worked on a select few night, but screwed them over a lot more.

actually the suns won 29 games the season before nash got there, and then they won 62. So he was easily the mvp. And the only reason the lakers were anywhere near the playoffs for those two years before Gasol got there was cuz of phil jackson. When Jackson wasn't there in 2004 Kobe got them a 34-48 record.
Kobe doesn't even deserve the one mvp award that he got a few years ago. Kobe had Gasol, Bynum, Odom and the greatest coach of all time, that team was fucking stacked.

The suns roster did change a lot from that year, but it's still obvious that without Nash they weren't close to being a contender. Nash completely changed that team.
And why is there even a label as being a "Kobe Hater"? Why aren't there other players that people "hate" as much. It's cuz Kobe has been on some amazing teams in his career and I think he gets more credit than he deserves. Shaq carried him to championships and then Kobe won nothing for 3 years until they stole Gasol.

Don't start comparing Kobe to Jordan, they're not in the same league. In Jordan's first 3 peat he had Pippen and grant, who are really good but nothing compared to shaq in his prime.
Before shaq got old he made every team a contender; Orlando, LA and then Miami.

I never said one person can do it all on a championship team but if Kobe is as great as everybody says then I would've expected a much better result those years when he didn't have a superstar with him.
And the reason the Lakers have been so good for the last few years is because of their front court, that's what's been winning them games, not Kobe's forced jumpers.

@stretch90 i know what you mean, im disappointed at games too. but remember that he is the captain, its his game. and he isnt young like he was before, he does not want to risk injuries going under the paint, so even if its bad jumpers he takes them.
if u watched kobe back then, u will notice how many more jump shots he takes as years go by instead of dunking them. its not like he doesnt want to dunk them, but his age and his lack of size isnt helping.

well yeah, kobe has a lot of wear on his body for being in the league for so long so he can't dunk like he used to but I'd like him more if he didn't take such ill advised jump shots. Like, it's okay if he's relying on his jumper more as he ages, but some of the shots he takes really don't help.
Wade is older than some other stars right now but I think he'll be able to play aggressive for longer since he hasn't been in the league for that long yet, so he has less wear.

I don't like the Lakers, but I hope they beat the Spurs. They are flat out boring floppers, then I pray anyone from the East takes it out.

Yeah, Boston looks really good so far and I'm really hoping they win it this year. They got really unlucky last year with perkins going down and garnett not really beind healthy for most of the season. Garnett was acting kinda like a bitch last year but he still deserves way more than one ring.
