all the money wasted bailing out the banks and the goverment didnt lift a finger to help rover..the labour party should be ashamed, and those phionix directors should be locked up...could only happen in brittain.
You cant compare rescuing the banks with bailing out MG Rover. The collapse of MGR may have been extremely unpleasent for workers and the West Midlands, but it had little effect on the overall economy of the UK. If the banks had failed in 2008 we would still be living in tents and qeueing at the soup kitchens. It would have been devestating. Also rememeber the Government didnt just give banks the money, they took a stake in the businesses that will eventually be sold on recouping the money.
One of the saddest pieces of news that still effects.I find it odd he reporter said the 75 failed to capture imagination yet the SV/SVR did. Surely the 75 was by far more profitable? I dont think that is the case anyway,I think part of it is the public at large will only buy what looks like the same car for a limited time.I think after the BMW pullout, combined with what comes across to me as a laid back `folly` for the Phoenix 4 and the Labour Govt. lead to this in the immediate later period.
The most anoying thing I would say is. "we put money into brittish banking because this is the way forward, Banking in Britian is how we make money"< statement from 2005, Well its amazing how a labour government could sell off Industry! Also please remember Land rover /Jaguar sale from Ford to TATA? Well Rana TATA has plenty of cash, he came cap in hand to the British government and asked for cash to keep the companies in Britain. The government agreeed! Rana Tata is a Multi-Billionare! explain?
@TheLongfords Yes, they are the party of lazy complacent scum, not one of them actually have a cllue about running a country. They are all in politics for the money and power they get out of it, and they are all uneducated thickos aswell, which means that even if they were committed to making the UK better, they couldn't do it anyway!!
Here again is a prime example of the government letting the british industry down but then quite happy to give our hard earned tax payers money to bloody foreigners. A damn shame that a truly great british car company was left to die and then thrown to the dogs. Tony blair and his bunch of useless f**kers should be a shamed. All those jobs, skilled workers and and dedication gone forever. Long live rover to the people who really care about it. Rover will always and forever in my heart.
The problem is most politicians are ex lawers. Their job is to spin and lie. Therefore what do we expect, for them to understand creations like a motorcar? I wish we could have an extra option in ellections......to sack all the professional politicians and start again with the sensable and great British public who live in the real world. Labour will be out of power for many years when they lose the next ellection.
funny really how a labour goverment, supposed to be a party of the working class, totally shitcanned rover, but found 50 millon quid to bail out the high street banks that have been ripping us of for years, oh and they have found some money to keep land rover/jaguar, and GM happy?
and then there was that ridiculas hewitt woman that announced MGR was bankrupt publically b4 anyone else knew, and dont get me started on that scouse cnut tony woodley!
Just goes to show how selfish most people are. Amazing though how they didnt want to help rover with public money but are prepared to support a government who spend billions on an immoral and illegal war in iraq.
Concorde, Rover, Industrys of Britain, Banking is all well and good. Remember the time when All tools where made in Britain? well itrs too late the hero. Lets hope SAIC andTATA Dont drop the ball! and make something of the great technology Britain produce and let go so easy. Rover owner.
*cough* Correction "NAC and TATA dont drop the ball!" SAIC make up a brand called Rowee(?). Love their car, hate the brand. If SAIC give the 550 to NAC-MG. The future of both company will look a lot brighter!
As I once researched in Auto industry, the combine in charge of former MG Rover sell the trademark 'Rover' to Ford when SAIC bid to buy it. Ford reserves the option to buy it in priority when signing the contract to acquire Land Rove. Now answer comes out, Ford sell the brand to TATA to better assist the sales.
Mmm, you mean Rover and LandRover? I do not think it matter, because they had been separated since MG-Rover era. If consumer has no problem to distinguish these two brands back then, they should not have problem to distinguish these two brands right now. Thought I had yet to be a hardcore British car fan. But I still believe it is better to let some one use the Rover brand and give her a chance to shine rather than let her stay in the warehouse and rust away like now.
If i had the money i would buy Rover and make them go back to British soil where Rover should be !! I hate all the Asian AutoMotive Brands !!! they steal everything !!
the idiotic and suicidal uk government would rather throw billions of pounds away abroad fighting pointless wars than saving their own industry, LABOUR GOVERNMENT= EVIL, IMCOMPETENT FOOLS! THE UK WILL BECOME A 3RD WORLD COUNTRY SOON, JUST WATCH..
Ciò vuol dire che su un campione di 10 mila persone ad esempio, ben 70% sono teste di cazzo! Assurdo. E' questo il mondo in cui viviamo? E' un mondo schifoso. La Rover risorgerà, e siederà alla destra del Padre!

Well, I doubt TATA really want Rover, since Jaguar and Rover are somewhat overlapping in the market.
MrBS4 2 years ago
However, having similar name in its brand may cause confusion to customers, especially in different classes
