Where was this? I live in Washington state. Apparently we get quite a few liberties out here during fall and sometimes in spring. I'm a noob hunter, i'm gathering all the info I can on these little beauties before the season starts. We get cyanescens in abundance here too I guess.
how was effect?, looking to get these online soon, not sure if I should wait till the mushroom growing season nov/oct (I think) or get online what would you suggest?
Nice video. And of course when the season is over, it's possible to mail order various interesting species of truffles and shrooms from enlightened foreign companies, or even grow your own for minimum effort, although I'm sure you knew this already :)
@SkipjackEddie Yeh Wholecelium have been good for me, incase anyone looking for a site. But i'm sticking to LSD at the moment, though gonna also try Bromo DragonFLY this week.
@TateTrips Yeah I'm on that wavelength - we've been sourcing some seriously potent LSD from these lads around the Lake District these last few months, and I see no reason to discontinue :)
@PaintKyZR Look at lots and lots of pictures first, take one with you picking if you can and start off only picking those that you are 100% sure are correct. When i started picking i found that once i'd found the right variety, i had no problems..However the colour of the mushrooms vary dependent on how dry/wet the day is, If you pick on a damp day with less sun, the Liberty Caps will be more brown and sticky, On a dry day, they will be more white/tan.....
@PaintKyZR ....One thing to note is the nipple of the mushrooms are tinged yellowish. Just look at lots of pictures and if in doubt post some pictures of your findings on the shroomery forums and some helpful people will help you to identify what you've picked! But finding liberty caps is pretty easy and fun!
@TateTrips Thanks for the tips, i checked out LOADS of pictures of them so i can identify them now :) the only problem is i don't know when the UK's mushrooms season is, you have any idea?
@PaintKyZR Yeh, unfortunately you've just missed it, the last i picked were in late october with a few stragglers in early november. A few can grow in spring, though not many, this season i found mushrooms as early as late June, the peak of the season was september for me. Where abouts in uk are you? If near leeds or london send me a PM.
@mmonsieurr is for me, actually the field in this video was a privately owned patch of land, when the owner caught on i was picking there, she extended the electric wire around the whole thing, mowed all the grass and put a no trespassing sign up... even though it wasn't even being used, lol.
god, they are so beautiful! i recently found a field near my home with just a few specimens (found about 10). i flicked every one of them, so i should score higher next season, yes?
In Russia i have got 4 spots of semilanceata near my house. every spot gives up to 3000 mushrooms in september .after good rains and after 3,4 days it gives over 3000 mushrooms again. From october to november there 300 - 400 mushrooms on every spot.so in september i do stocks for a year forward.
It is insulting that it is impossible to eat mushrooms every day becouse of tollerance to effect so i eat semilaceanta 2-3 times in a week on 150-200 dried mushrooms.
I'm in Czech Rep. We didn't have first decent rain till 7th Oct but i can't find anything at all, not even any kind of field mushroom. Now it's sunny again with frost in the mornings. Is it too late, too early or what?
@ammypam Hi, those Liberty Caps grow until the weather gets really cold,. They still grow if the weather is between 5-15 degrees. They can grow to middle of november if the weather is good.If you have weather under 5 in 4-5 days then they start too die so it's not too late.I live in southern Sweden and i had found some but not much because here we don't have much rain right now and rain is very good for shrooms so we can just hope for rain don't we :) Greetings.
weird season - some areas early - some areas not a sausage yet as too warm and dry. However seems plum now - they should start to appear down south now methinks.
Could someone please help me out of where to look and when to find them etc ? I have done many different types of shrooms but have never experienced these.... I'm in the UK aswell
Hey do got any tips on where to find these shrooms, i kno they grow in grass areas like in your video, but do they grow everywhere or do they prefer shady places or tall grass?
@EternalPower666 I'm not sure on wales, i think in general late September/early October is the best time for them, but it all depends on the weather, last week it poured down for days, followed by a couple days of cool sunny weather.. so lots grew here.
@EternalPower666 They started growing in August here. Last year they were still growing till early November. These were picked in Sowerby bridge, West Yorkshire.

Are those mushrooms illegal? And can you become addicted to them?

@700007123 They are illegal, and are not addictive.

why do you flick them before you pick them? is there a reason?
gomerrpm21 2 months ago
@gomerrpm21 Flick them to release the spores and nip them on the stem to leave the root in the ground. To encourage more growth.

So to identify liberty caps, basically i look for a thin stalk, bell shaped cap, tan coloured and with a sort of nipple on the top? is that right?

@ammypam It's perfect. I live in Germany, and those mushrooms grow like hell if it's frost. They need a 'coldshock' to grow more.
