  • One of the true GREATS of music, and sadly there are no great harmony groups, on the horizon to carry on bringing the great wealth of songs to a new generation.

Lets hope these wonderful songs of a lifestyle and time gone by are not forgotten!

  • Genau so wie Luke Kelly. Du bist genauso alt wie ich, we had the best Time with their music. God bless them

  • Not other words that RESPECT... and THANK YOU for all this good moments with your music.

    From Belgium.

  • LEGEND, RONNIE DREW, RIP.

  • Wenn man gehen muss, ist es nicht wirklicher Reichtum, wenn man solche Worte finden kann, wie Ronny sie sagt?!

Ronny war ein toller, großer Mann und mir wird er unvergessen sein. Ulli

  • It's easy to get famous, when you're born in the rigth family or studied music, acting or things like this.

It's easy, to get famous as a rock star or an actor or sometihng like this.

But grown up on a quite small Island, in a town, that were in his days quite small and just played traditinal music, thats what makes Ronnie Drew to a legend for me. He got knowen in America, Britan, Spain, Germany and so many countrys with a kind of music, thats only hardly knowen anywhere else as in Irland.

  • There are stars, and super stars,

and there are legends. Then there's Ronnie & Luke God rest there souls for we will never hear the likes of them again.

Rest in peace boy's, I hope your at the gates to sing me in when it comes my time.

  • I can't believe he's gone a year. I was stunned when I heard the news of his death.

  • Ronnie - you had a voice that dreams are made of.

Gone a year ago today, and sadly missed..

  • ill have a drink for you old friend see you soon

  • stunning

  • Indeed. We have lost a giant of Irish music. Beautiful song, sung like no other could. God bless Ronnie, and thanks for memories.

  • RIP Ronnie!!!!!!!!

  • No more songs of Mr Drew. It will be a sadder place. We will miss your voice forever/ Bless you.

  • this song was written by Mike Hanrahan

  • The Emerald Isle became a little less greener. Yet the Heavens became a little brighter. Slán, Ránall Ó Draoi.

  • great words mate,,well said...

  • Amen mate.

  • as I say - Heaven was needing a hero

  • I'm from America, 15 and am 1/4 Irish and unfortunately not full blooded Irish, and it is because of men like Ronnie Drew that i wish i was full Irish and also because of Ronnie that i have fallen in love with music and want to sing songs such as these myself because of Ronnie as well.

  • I know where you are coming from. I also live in America, I'm 17, and I'm a mix of Irish, British, Scottish, and German decent. Don't feel that even if you're only 1/4 Irish that you can't be 'full- blooded.' The fact that you have these intense feelings in your heartfelt comments and love for his music is good enough to consider you 'full-blooded.' Remember, it's people like you who keep Ronnie's spirit alive.

  • You don't have to be Irish to sing Irish songs. Sing what ever you want, where ever you are, and when ever you wish.

  • very true!

  • your 1/4 irish? did you have 4 parents? lol

    Ronnie Drew Abú!

  • Ronnie, you're the greatest, still. May the Lord and Saints love your music as we do.

  • Wonderful Ronnie, we all miss you. RIP

  • A very relevant song. The World is poorer without you Ronnie Drew. Rest in Peace.

  • Beautifulsong by the great Ronnie Drew !

  • read the bible god doesnt take people its satan that does.

  • No God takes people, I suggest you read the bible.

  • follow the crowd. do u really believe god causes pain? if so why do you try and serve him?

  • God does not cause pain. Pain is a Physical thing brought on by years of evolution. God creates us, and determines how/when we die. Satan has NO power to take peoples lives. And nowhere in the Bible does it claim he does. And I try to serve him because he is My/your Creator

  • satan was the one who convinced eve to sin which in turn causes us to die. so in effect satan is the original reason we die.

  • With due respect, I am not on a tribute video to this GREAT man to argue religion. Fact is Satan has no power to decide on how/when to take human life. It is controled by our destiny, which is set up by God. Satan can onlu tempt us to sin.

  • Humans cause pain, I think we all know that.

  • Ronnie Drew was 73, for years a heavy boozer, and a regular smoker - i'd say it was his time. Not that it was less saddening his passing, but he was a man who led his own life, made his own decision (which don't differ too far from my own) and quite possibly died earlier then should he have led a healthier life. All the same, RIP Ronnie.

  • Ah, But what a legacy he left!!

I'd say that if we consider this, we'd say that those years were well spent

    - Good On Ya Ronnie!!

  • He was so brilliant and we all miss him, this song is so beautiful !

    Norfolk

  • I Think this song, and maybe the way he's singing it, maybe make his post appropriate Epitaph.

I thought it was "Dublin in the rare auld times" before but listen to this more since His passing. RIP

  • @jesscheckin I think you are right. but also "the parting glass".

  • I met both Ronie and Eleanor on the same day. They used to perform at Royal Tara Golf Club in Meath for charity. Eleanor is a lovely piano player.

  • A sad day for Dublin and Ireland

  • the very best..........

  • I am glad to say I met the man three times, He was a great man, a great wit, a wonderful singer. He will be missed! There isn't one his songs that doesn't make me laugh or cry, or want to dance. God bless you Ronnie!!
