  • I'm glad to be able to wear that stupid t-shirt that says "I may be old but I got to see all the cool bands"! The Dead w/ Pigpen, Duane Allman, The Mac, Stones with Brian Jones, and no yicket cost more than $7.50!!

  • I would love to travel in a time machine and seat down and watch all these amazing bands such as this Fleetwood Mac line up, AWESOME.

  • I'm jerking off because Peter's sound is sooooooooooooooooooooooo....

  • Oh dude what s ths

  • good but excessively short version ... Hefner in his high time with beautiful babies... before dumb plastic blonde era...

  • watch me dancing at 1:24

  • @peonwarrior the green 1 or blue

  • Appropriate they they play a jerk-off song at a Playboy magazine party!

  • Look, there's Barbara Klein, I mean, Barbie Benton.

  • lol i read the lyrics.. it is about jerking off XD.

    Now, I know this guy

    His name is mick

Now, he don't care when he ain't got no chick

    He do the shake

    The rattlesnake shake

    Yes, he do the shake

    And jerks away the blues

    Now, jerk it

    XD

  • Barbie Benton said you took the words right out of my mouth Heff . Me thinks she had more then just words in her mouth at this point in her illustrious career lol

  • Hef, what the hell are you talking about? lol.

  • I'm pretty sure this song is about jacking off

  • Far out !!!

  • Wow that was one surreal introduction. I liked the sitting down dancers too.

  • boy did Hef turn into a sad old fart!

  • @seekandumayfind He's in his mid 80's and still boinking 20 years olds, that not a sad old fart, thats a god.

  • Mick Fleetwood is a heck of a drummer.

  • @twoslices Mick is the Rock that these very talented musicians have stood on for allthese years!

  • Dear Peter, yes this your music and show as i remember.

  • Comment removed

  • That room is groovin...Fleetwood Mac rocks the Playboy Club!:)

  • Yay, shake da snake , Peter !

  • Is that Bebe Buell hanin' on Hef?

  • @TheHEARSEDRIVER

That's a very young and sexy Barbie Benton. Yowza!!

  • @Musicnut1965 Of course it is. My mistake. Thanks.

  • this is when they had soul

  • I know this guy, his name is Pete, he's use to usin' both his feet, he does the shake. . . .

  • "do the shake"!! and he can't keep from smiling as looks around at where he is

  • :]

  • I think Peter is one of the few people in the room that actually gets the joke.

Playing a song about masturbation in the Playboy mansion, priceless. XD

  • Things that make you go HMMMMMM....loving this song brings back memories of husband number 1

  • Peter Green looks like a friendly lion

  • @toecutterr6

Jajaaja Tenes toda la razon.... No paro de reirme.... use Google Translate....

  • Peter Green is by far my favourite guitarist

  • ♥ .

  • the drummer is so into it ha ha

  • 0:23 'Absolutely perfect for THE Fleetwood Mac LOL!! Yeah, I like The Nirvana, The Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Jethro Tull, and The Jimi Hendrix! Oh, I like Barbi Benton too. Holy crap that girl's pretty.

  • i love the type of fashion here :) its so cute

  • If you ain't got a chick you do the shake...

  • This is what real rock n' roll used to sound like kiddies....raw,in your face, tongue firmly in cheek....thank god it's archived so the future ancients will know all musicians weren't a bunch of whining pussies

  • check out mick's shirt.... that's hot.

  • what a gem, if only hef paid these guys to hang out forever

  • Sounds like it was recorded about the time of the Live at Boston Tea Party sets.

  • Hahaha...Peter Green sings Blackened by Metallica

  • What I mean is, one of the singers in our band bears a hillariously uncanny resemblance to Peter Green.

  • A song about masturbation introduced by a complete wanker. How apt

  • @AndPlus *sniggers* Maybe it was their/his comment on being asked to play at "The Mansion" ? :P

I was fortunate enough to see Peter Green live last year, and yes he opened the set with this ROFLMAO.

  • This is totally bizzar....Hugh Heffner talking about Bucky Fuller with a pregenent Barbie Benton with Fleetwood Mac at "The Mansion" playing Rattlesnake Shake, one of my favorite songs of all time. Made my night. Right on, Bozozoo

  • Hefner is his very own ratpack, all to himself - the smooth successful bad boy, who can be facetious inyour face because he's got the shit - success is its own rewarrd, obviously - but he patronized the bands he featured, he was a Caligula interested only is sex and adulation - an American icon -

  • Is the guy with the beard singing Adam Sandler?

  • @gyruuryg

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks Peter Green and Adam Sandler look alike.

  • i love how the british even have kinda a American accent when they sing and visa verse (people that say cover the Beatles kinda deal), man he must of love love loved the blues to pin point lill things like that man o man! any ways, i love all of you

  • Damn I love Barbie!!!

  • @HerbBurns

she was hot wasn't she...I bet she still is

  • Mick Fleetwood facial expressions scared me the first time I saw him,,,but I was on Acid too..... so.....

  • You took the spunk right out of my mouth, Heefer.

  • many people think that green tries to look like jesus. when its actually that jesus tries to look like peter green :)

  • @ThePatrickWorld

Both Jesus and Peter Green are Jewish.

  • @ThePatrickWorld amen to that brother

  • Fucking Hefner makes me sick.....

  • What a shame that what happened to Peter Green happened.

  • @titostacos - yeah but luckily, peter green has come out of it and all is well :)

  • Kings of Leon singer sounds like this guy... somewhat.

  • frigging great musician but i think the drummers got lock jaw

  • god damn....that's Austin Powers at 1:30!

  • How appropo this tune is considering the location.

  • what a legend tune indeed...

    happy wanking everyone <3

  • Barbi Benton had the bestest breastests ever !

  • Is Buckingham in the mix at this stage of F.M.'s evolution??

  • @holdersteven No I think hes at least 4 or 5 years away at this point

  • ahh cute Barbi Benton took words outta my mouth too lol had a crush on her in 70s thinkin of her and doin the rattlesnake shake ahhh

  • Comment removed

  • GREAT!!!!!!

  • The shake....GET IT YET!!!...

  • So sad to think of Peter looking so healthy and animated here and what happened to him not too long after this. So gifted. And Danny too. Dammit, makes me angry and sad, too.

  • I think Peter was having fun singing these cheeky lyrics.

  • Peter Green is amazing. But I have to say, he looks like he's having fun here and all, but I bet he's thinking 'this really isn't my scene'.

  • Hugh is just proof that money could buy alot of stuff...take away the money and Heff was nobody's cool friend...just a rather shallow dude!

  • What a classic! Cool to see folks up and shaking it for Rattlesnake Shake, although I'm guessing the band didn't have to "shake" it that night by themselves!

  • Great stuff...

  • ahh ludes and reefer.

and of course.. the fleetwood mac and hugh hefner

    seriously whats better?

  • what album is this off??

  • @existamixa then play on

  • @existamixa

    Then Play On (1969)

  • @josh7949 well screw you then cuz 3dg sucks and new metallica is crap

  • You can't tell anyone was doing acid in this clip, huh? LOL

  • Barbie Benton at the begining? I'm pretty sure..lol Thats why he was singing that song. She was hot!

  • Awesome.

  • Guy in blue = Jeremy Spencer. Mainly the bands slide guitarist and parody singer. He did countless Elmore James covers. He wasn't sick he just often didn't play on Peters tunes.

  • @FlightoftheSpeedKing Jeremy Spencer is in the white shirt with dark vest and he's playing maracas. The "guy in blue" is guitarist Kirwan.

  • This spawned so many genre's it aint funny!! The most influential band of the 70's...bar none!!

  • Peter with Jeremy spencer great sound

  • What's up with the guy in blue? Was he sick that day?

  • @chuckyko The guy in blue, in the band? That's Danny Kirwan, no doubt just standing back and playing rhythm, letting Peter sing his song - that's my guess.

  • gotta love the original fleetwood mac in the playboy mansion... thanks for this!

  • Fleetwood Mac playing "Rattlesnake Shake" on "Playboy After Hours." How perfect is that?

  • Buckminster Fuller and Peter Green in one clip, plus groovy dancing, cant beat it!

  • Saturdays are for shaking. My preferred Fleetwood Mac lineup. Now you know where your parents got their shake.

  • The guy in blue at 1:25 made me shit my pants haha

  • anybody has tabs for this song?

  • @picifuzimakermore Not a tab in afraid, but a demo of how to play it, in video responses above

    regards THD

  • That young guy playing guitar, with the hair in his face; very fuckable! I love the dancing by the way. Never "felt" this to be such a dancable song...

  • the guy in blue at 1:25 is awesome..that's how i dance..

  • @RyDawg084 Yup thats definatley you Ryan!!!!!! I've seen it!!!!

  • @RyDawg084 well that IS you now isnt ?

  • @RyDawg084 ROFL haha

  • Hefner's a bit of a wanker, but he's right about Buckminster Fuller.

  • oh barbie you got a purty mouth

  • think Peter got laid by a bunny that night?

  • From his smile I would say that he's thinking along those lines!

  • Man Hugh Hefner is such a twit!

Thanks for sharing this badass groove, always nice to see the video of them playing :)

  • Hugh Hefner is nothing but a slimy pimp...

    But Fleetwood is great...

and no I would not go to any event related to Hugh and the Playboy....this is matter of style...

  • what a sound, what a scene

  • God I love Peter Green.

  • I love a song about masterbation

  • @bozozoo I guess a song about masturbation is only appropriate when Playboy is the host...

  • @bozozoo really? that what it's about?

  • @bozo- and a song about masterbation at of all places - hef's playboy club - - yea !!! --------- when my brother took all his albums with him off to college - I went out and bought this album and quicksilver happy trails - I already owned the white album and crown of creation so I was off to a good start .

  • birth of "blue eyed blues"

  • That girl in blue at 2:10 can really "shake" it.

  • peter looks happy here. maybe if the guys whould have stayed loner at huge we have never had Rumours. but we had green there.

anyway thanks for the Great post!

  • This is song..!!!!!!

  • Heff could have just as easily said something like, "The environmental conditions that have resulted from contemporary architectural visions of the modern urban landscape are no different than me and these two lovely Playmates getting together and into something I like to call the "Rattlesnake Shake". By the way, the Rattlesnake in question should not leave any doubt as to whose rattlesnake I am speaking of."

  • the black man who's dancing,....is the same guy that is in the deep purple video HUSH...at the playboy mansion kkk

o carinha preto q danca e o mesmo do video do depp purple HUSH na mansao playboy

  • Now I think I see who Eric Clapton tried to copy (Peter Green) but not really well.

  • ???? wtf????

  • ?????

  • This video is priceless.

Barbi Benton, the beautiful young goddess on Hefner's left, later married him. Who was hotter? Barbi as a babe or Pete as a blues guitarist? Anyway, based on Pete's beard, and the fact this was shot in the States, this may have been taped during the ill-fated tour which spelled the end of that wonderful version of the band. I remember seeing a scrubbed up, suit-wearing Roger McGuinn on this show, fronting for the Byrds. He looked pretty annoyed the whole time.

  • @NicolletIslandSlim This is a classic for sure.

  • No white chicks dancing the blues like this anymore... not even black ones.

  • yep.. it's a sad sad world we live in today...

i may be an aerosmith fan but sometimes i hate them for that team-up with Run-DMC that gave rap the jolt it needed to become popular

  • At least you came to one of the sources of Aerosmith's influence. Do you really think Joe Perry flipped his magnet in the neck pickup by himself??? He was trying to emulate his true guitar idol (not Jimmy Page).

  • I bet Hef fucked those 2 hot chicks at the start of this video. I bet he banged them hard that night .... dirty old cunt ! Buah ha ha ha ha ha haha ha

  • Wow, I forgot how hot Barbie Benton was!

  • my name is actually mac :)

  • A very appropriate song for the Playboy show. What a great find, whoever found it.

  • Hefner shows how little he knows about music when he introduces them as THE Fleetwood Mac. It was always just "Fleetwood Mac"

  • @RangerRob7169 wrong....the is THE Fleetwood Mac

  • Peter put Hef's peter

    in it's place!

  • Very nicely done!!! What a combo....Peter Greenbaum, Hef and Barbie!!!! WOW TY for sharing!!!!

  • Hilarious...Hefners lead in and all...this must have been televised from the Playboy mansion in the late 60's... " you took the words right out of my mouth Hef" says Barbie Benton, Hef's girlfriend at the time.

Not to take anything away from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, but I think blues music of this kind really appealed to the conceits of the so called "jet set" in the late 60's, of which Hef was a charter member.

  • After seeing vintage Playboy After Dark footage of The Grateful Dead, and Deep Purple, I don't think that's the case. The select audience looks just as lost, and fake as the other bands. They're just there to act like they appreciate this music. It's just like today's music awards show with the small crowd jumping up and down to anything because they're being paid. The true Fleetwood Mac fans of this period made many vists to both Fillmore's, and the rest of the hippie ballroom circuit.

  • In addition, I know the audience has no idea what the song is about, especially Hef. That's why Peter has his sly smile, priceless!

  • you're right... i bet what you know what he had for dinner that night and his stance on capital gains tax. get a life.

  • Absolutely; Peter looks like he's about to crack up singing those lyrics. Once you get the hint about the song, it seems so obvious. Haha

  • Thanks for the input, strangeonesfor.....I'm just critical of the scene as seen on the clip. Hef was actually a recluse but sort of projected the "sophisticated" jet set image and then of course there was the Playboy "philosophy" ....don't get me started on that.

  • Amen brother! Still tryin' to figure how Hef heard about them... perhaps he and Bill Graham knew each other.

  • watchin mac on my mac!

  • I used to listen to this for hours when in my teens. Sure liked the 'ole' Fleetwood better then the new

  • Class....

  • i love peter's smirk while he sings this song. Was this on a tv show or something? I'm sure they'd never let them sing this on tv today

  • This show was Playboy After Dark with Hugh Hefner talking BS at the beginning.

  • I would loved to have been there. You get to see Fleetwood mac, and then have sex with a playmate....... Only in my dreams.

  • The environmental conditions would better in the reck room with a song about...... jerking off?

Its no wonder Green looks like he is laughing... very funny

  • You take the words right out of my mouth.. LOL

  • Goddman, the original Mac was some heavy shit. Green kicks the dust off of Buckingham.

  • WOW.. Green is so powerfull here.

  • Pity is that it isn't the whole 24 minutes! as it gets better and better! you will have to buy the cd to hear the rest! but it's worth it.

  • didn't they have the sound?

(can't cuss no more on YouTube)

  • I love the sound of those f***ing Les Pauls and the way those guys play them!!! F***ing LOVE IT! Wannn go buy me one!

  • And here you can hear the psychedelic tendencies that would emerge later in Peter Green's guitar work. This is a significant piece of blues work by a significant group of musicians.

  • This band rocked. It managed to survive awhile after the loss of Peter Green, but not too long - it became a commercial sham after Kiln House.

  • Hef didn't get dosed. They put the LSD in the coffee at the catering table, which Hef stayed well away from. He was probably the only person in the room who WASN'T dosed.

  • Nice video from a great band!

  • Excellent this very short version

  • Aaaahhhhhhhh. It can't be better.

    I love this band.

  • Jammin at the mansion I wonder if the

mates got to partake in the tunnels and swimming pool cave orgys. "blimey".

  • That's not the mansion. It's a television soundstage made up to look like a penthouse suite.

  • This is the irony of ironies. Here you have a hippie drug band (a very good one), singing about male masterbation in front of women for the taking. Just watch Peter Green's wry smile, priceless.

  • Boy did you hit the nail on the head. My same thoughts.

  • Great video! It shows just how good this line-up was as a live band. Too bad that shortly after this Peter Green left (and would never be the same again).

  • Thanks for sharing a great video! 5 stars!

  • what show is this from?

  • 'Playboy After Dark', i think.

  • A friend of mine commented after seeing this video that the Grateful Dead pulled in better looking women than the Mac for their appearance on Hef's After Dark. I tend to agree, but the Mac (with Green) were by far the better band.

  • that blond chick in white and red is damn hot!
