  • what software is this?

  • this software is REASON right ??

  • @TheGemicore Yesir

  • BIAB! The answer to your questionnnn IS....

if you want to remove the samples from redrum and have a blank sample slot then you just right click on the sample slot (not on the buttons, on the slot itself) and scroll down until you see "remove sample" BINGO! you are set!

Took me awhile to find that out myself haha. Big Ups on the site, thanks for taking the time to help out the music community. Much appreciated!

  • HEY im having a problem when the redrum is in the combinator and i copy note to track, it creats a redrum outside the combinnator and not inside the combinator on a note lane, any advice on what im doing wrong?

  • I've just sampled your 'hip hop' you say it so funny!

  • Hey Dave, I have watched this tutorial before and didn't notice but when your adding your snare hits, you decide to add an extra hit on note 32 @ 5:00. However you didn't increase the range from 16 to 32.

Lol I was doing the TUT again, and listening for that last 'bouncy drop' and wondering where it was haha. You taught me well enough to pick that it was missing but.

Once again top job! I think you should keep going with your tutorials, they are the best on YOUTUBE!!!

    THEMovement

  • im challenging those who claims to be music tutors, to start doing the real mixing and mastering, to drop legit knowledge about this gig.all i have seen is pre mixed and mastered material, where music nerd's are just showing you knobs.it doesn't matter what kind of music, and what kind of software you use.make sure its a full track, with vocals!then make an epic life on youtube, do not pre-mix/master & then show us the results,we want to see you obtain those results, and talk through the vid.

  • 5 people listen to Justin Beiber

    >=[

  • some lame hiphop:)

    sorry dude

  • This is hella informative AND funny. I like that you know the difference in genre's of hip hop since those without that knowledge could easily create a beat for any sub genre and just label it a 'standard' hip hop beat. There's a feeling to the music, an art, despite what mainstream radio would have you believe. Thanks for this great series.

  • haha @ 6:59

  • youtube (dot) com/bDIFFISKI91

  • dave you get rid of them by right clicking the sample and then left clicking 'remove sample'

  • I've been struggling to assign the right sample to the right redrum channel/track but it seems impossible. What is the punchy snare? Is it a clap sample too? Can you please tell us the name and channel/track of each sample? For example:

    channel/track 1 - biab_gf_kick_1.wav

    channel/track 2 - biab_gf_kick_4.wav

... and so on, cheers ;)

  • its red rum not reedrum

  • @sludgewig its re drum not red rum or reeeeeedrum

  • @sludgewig well on the machine it says "redrum" so i think its redrum

  • @sludgewig no, it's not.

  • hey dave,

you are super awesome guy for putting all this up. thanks for the tips. btw, i know how to delete a sample from the redrum channels. You right click on the channel number and select 'remove sample'

for ages i couldnt work out why it wouldnt let me delete patches, but then was reading the manual and came across by accident. lol.

  • @elby3: Thanks for that explanation! I was wondering as well.

  • i cant find any of the sample packs on your website, even by searching them, can you help?

  • Lets hear it for Dave. Woo!

  • thought i knew everything bout redrum... holy shit was i wrong

    ;D

    great stuff man!

  • "lets call it drumz with a z, cos we're hiphop"

    sorry but thats brilliant :)

  • once again cheers mr pie.canrt wait for the rest dont think it will be good for a compation but i will give it a go.

Plus FORT MINOR defintly should listen to if not heard.

  • Great tutorials, would just appreciate it if you didn't make fun of hip hop so much though. It's not all gangster n g-funk. There is a lot of beautiful, amazing music out there that falls under the genre. Some people as well as me are part of the hip hop culture.

Any way, I learned a few new tricks with the re-drum here. Thanks!

  • I know very well there's tons of gorgeous and powerful hip hop, have you heard any Fort Minor? That stuff is absolutely lush.

It's just fun to make fun :) There's no denying the hip hop market is saturated with straight Gs spitting their flows. I find that it's more interesting to watch a tutorial if it's interspersed with the odd joke!

  • Hey if your still wondering how to remove sample from redrum kits, right click on what the up or down arrow, or the browse sample button on which ever sample lane you want to remove and go down to remove sample.

  • Comment removed

  • @wwwboyinabandcom I live in New York City, Home and birthplace of hip hop.But dude you must be black because you got some swagga to ya all you need to do now is talk more about slapping hoes n selling drugs and youll be good! :)

  • I have to agree. You make this stuff very easy to follow and you always explain why you're doing something (which is sooo important). I was always afraid to even play with sound design until I started watching your tutorials. Thanks and keep it up!
