Ahh, I had the gamecube version of this game. Pretty much confused the hell out of me on what to do. Ambush say what? And I wondered if the weapons even worked.
I remember getting this game and as soon as i put it into the ps2 i went online with it, played 2 matches and i sold it lol i just couldn't play this because the graphics were unacceptable for a game where there were soo many other games that were better online like socom and rainbow six 3. also the next gen versions of it didn't help too as they were stunning to look at and impossible for a ps2 current gen to match. fair play though for those who enjoyed this game.

And that's the problem with that community. No one plays the game, so instead of welcoming new players to play with them, and maybe bringing some new life to the game, they decide to be assholes and boot people out of their games.
I've had it happen to me a lot too both in this game, and in the PS2 port of GRAW. I'd almost prefer that the games die completely, so those douche bags may finally figure it out.
If you don't want the game to die, don't be pricks to the new players.
I guess it runs in the tom clancy games. people will just kick you if you don't get enough kills in a match or if your rank is low. sad what gaming is coming to.
Man, gosh it bring back great memories. Today the graphics sucks so bad it's even hard to keep looking at it, but back in the days I was a bit of a beast on this game. Had the name tag always like Mutant or Gen_brigadier, was part of a few clans like T0Z, and iS among a couple other ones I can't even remember. Great memories.
The single player graphics in the PS version are decent, but too choppy.
As for the Xbox version, I don't have GR2 for the Xbox yet, but I really should get it.
And, of course the Xbox graphics hold up a lot better, the Xbox was quite a bit more powerful than the PS2. I mean, it was the only last gen system that could have handled a port of Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Farcry, and a number of other games.
It was a very good system overall. Not just for graphics, but for the games too.

I might consider getting online for ps2, unfortunately I sold my best games for online (Socom 2 etc). Luckily I held on to Syphon Filter OS, which looks good online. Anyway what do you need to play online for ps2? A network adapter maybe? Replies would be appreciated!

If you tossed your internet disk, there are still some games out there that have the disk built into them. The Single player is pretty crappy, but the online play is decent. It's more of a throwback to the original on the PC in gameplay style which is what I like about it.
However, there are better online games ont he PS2 let alone the PC.
It's OK overall. Not the best online play, but it can still be pretty fun.

hey I've got a white wire that is very long but everytime I connect it from my router to slim it never connects can u tell me if my white wire is actually an ethernet cable??
Does it fit in the slot? If so it should be an ethernet cable. However, the PS2 requires you to setup you online connection with the Online Startup Disk. If you don't have a disk, don't fret it, because there are many PS2 games that have the Online startup disk built into them.
Does anyone notice that this game is suppose to take time in 2011? It says 2011: Final Assualt on the disc cover.

Ahh, I had the gamecube version of this game. Pretty much confused the hell out of me on what to do. Ambush say what? And I wondered if the weapons even worked.

I remember getting this game and as soon as i put it into the ps2 i went online with it, played 2 matches and i sold it lol i just couldn't play this because the graphics were unacceptable for a game where there were soo many other games that were better online like socom and rainbow six 3. also the next gen versions of it didn't help too as they were stunning to look at and impossible for a ps2 current gen to match. fair play though for those who enjoyed this game.

The game's pretty dead. Go with the Socom series. Socom 3 or Combined assault will no doubt have the most players on them.
Socom 2 is my personal favorite, but it has less people, and more cheaters.

And that's the problem with that community. No one plays the game, so instead of welcoming new players to play with them, and maybe bringing some new life to the game, they decide to be assholes and boot people out of their games.
I've had it happen to me a lot too both in this game, and in the PS2 port of GRAW. I'd almost prefer that the games die completely, so those douche bags may finally figure it out.
If you don't want the game to die, don't be pricks to the new players.

Man, gosh it bring back great memories. Today the graphics sucks so bad it's even hard to keep looking at it, but back in the days I was a bit of a beast on this game. Had the name tag always like Mutant or Gen_brigadier, was part of a few clans like T0Z, and iS among a couple other ones I can't even remember. Great memories.

The single player graphics in the PS version are decent, but too choppy.
As for the Xbox version, I don't have GR2 for the Xbox yet, but I really should get it.
And, of course the Xbox graphics hold up a lot better, the Xbox was quite a bit more powerful than the PS2. I mean, it was the only last gen system that could have handled a port of Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Farcry, and a number of other games.
It was a very good system overall. Not just for graphics, but for the games too.

It actually hails back to the original Ghost Recon. In that one they had the same non-weapon setup going.
My guess is that maybe it helps the online run smoother by not having the guns on the screen. One less thing for the system to process.
Or maybe they did it on purpose.

I might consider getting online for ps2, unfortunately I sold my best games for online (Socom 2 etc). Luckily I held on to Syphon Filter OS, which looks good online. Anyway what do you need to play online for ps2? A network adapter maybe? Replies would be appreciated!

Dude, it's a PS2 game. If you're worried about graphics, then go spend a few grand on a top of the line PC that can play Crysis at max.
Furthermore, this is a low rez vid, so it's not the best to showcase the graphics of the game anyways.

Its a shame how consoles have become PC's these days, just because a "PC" has a playstation or 360 badge, it suddenly becomes the biggest thing to wow about.
My friend went ape shit when he found out he could hook up a "keyboard" and "mouse" the his PS3 and "online"
I mean... Am I the only one noticing this or what? When I picked up his PS3, I thought I was carrying a PC for a second. They are the heaviest thing!

The Single player is pretty crappy, but the online play is decent. It's more of a throwback to the original on the PC in gameplay style which is what I like about it.
However, there are better online games ont he PS2 let alone the PC.
It's OK overall. Not the best online play, but it can still be pretty fun.

I don't have GRAW, but this one requires an ubi account, so that one probably does too.
You just mainly need a valid email address. My ubi account I use is cross compatible with my PC games, and PS2 games.
I can look at my friends lists from the PC, or PS2. I've actually had that account since 2003, and can still use it in UBi's PS2 efforts.
Just remember your login and password, and you can use your gamertag in most of their online PS2/PC games.

Does it fit in the slot? If so it should be an ethernet cable. However, the PS2 requires you to setup you online connection with the Online Startup Disk. If you don't have a disk, don't fret it, because there are many PS2 games that have the Online startup disk built into them.
Ghost Recon 2, however, is not one of them.
