I've been to India a few times, and for long periods. The only time I ever had any contact with homosexuality (I'm straight) was with the chaake (eunuchs), some of whom like to tease foreigners - to the amusement of the other Idnians, and being hit on by a 10 year-old boy in the Muslim quarter of Agra (and this isn't really a "gay" thing, as that's between adults). Neither surprised anyone, and both took place in a public area.
I hope the vast majority of Indians do take this in their stride, however, the fact that until now gay couples couldn't consummate their relationships (or even just have some fun) is a serious matter and I doubt the gay community view this change as insignificant.

It is much easier for a male to prey on a boys as a coach, camp counselor, priest, boy scout leader etc. than it is for them to prey on girls. Their preference however isn't based on sex, it's based on age.

That's brilliant news! But people should remember that there's a long way to go. most countries still have laws that discriminate against gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered people! One step at a time!

I actually did a lot of study on India's pre-colonial days. They were so sexually progressive before being colonized by the Brits. Nothing against Great Britain, I'm sorry.
I think that if we had less sexual repression due to archaic dogma we'd have much less sex crimes and other such things in this world.
