  • What a pleasure to hear real female soul music again. Thanks.

  • They played this at my mates funeral back in 2004. A true friend who loved real Soul like this. RIP Rob

  • Just amazing. Heartbreaking.

  • They clicked dislike probably because the record is playing SLOW. But I LOVE this song.

  • im thinking this song came out in the mid 60s ? by the doowap doowap oooohh

  • I agree..HOT923LosAngeles

  • Classic...................

  • This is a song that a woman played for me just after I returned from overseas and said to always remember her. Her name was Deamnna Simms, if you are out there Deanna respond to this comment with something can identify with Rocky.:)

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • This has got to be one of the smoothest songs ever! The bass line is genius, as are the accents played by the organ. Amazingly simple, yet brilliant and Babara's voice just puts it over the top! I wish I could have written a song like this.

  • Thanks for posting...many sweet memories of San Diego in the 60's.

  • @Txun8 - dances at the concourse! yeah i remember them too...

  • SOUTHERN OLDIES

  • i agree ...it's slower than original....but still beautiful.

  • A Top 5 hit for Barbara Lewis in July 1963. It hit #1 on the Rhythm & Blues charts.

  • i love this song she is soo pretty in the photos :) love ehtt

  • I wish they would bring back songs like this, the 60's were a great time for me and so was the music. They had meaning for me some good some bad. But mostly good. LadyProwler100

  • all about the oldies in da 805 ventura county MOORPARKx3LOKOTES

  • This classic was done over forty years ago. The original had the Mighty Dells singing background. Queen Latifa should have asked them to perform on her version. Now that would have been Majestic for the Queen.

  • @Dsheik911 I had no idea that was the dells. I grew up down the street from Chess records and didnt know it was making history. Is Barbra from Chicago as well? I know there were great acts coming out of Chess, including Maurice white, Minnie Ripperton, Even the Chi lites did some recording there. and of course the Mighty Mighty Dells.

  • Sweet B3

  • Another one of those great old time summer songs Thanks

  • vc tem um bom gosto parabem

  • I always felt that this song was misnamed! "Hello Stranger" is only said at the intro..But the recurring theme should be the title---"Seems Like a Mighty Long Time"!

  • Hello Stranger!

  • yeah . baby im yours & this song r the same.. but sorry yvonne, this belongs 2 barb!!

  • best before rose

  • This has always been one of my favorites. Thank you for bringing it back. The best music ever !!!

  • i remember when this song came out

  • i like this song thumbs up :)

  • when i hear that barbara lewis hello stranger sound like something that Smokey Robinson and the Miracles will sing and sound and with Billy Preston on Organ.Billy preston shouldve joined and play with motown, barbara lewis shouldve joined motown instead of stax records, she and smokey are from Michigan in the motor city.

Smokey shouldve sung it to Baby Im Yours and Hello Stranger

  • What a GREAT GREAT song.

    Thanks

  • my rola ese stranger LM^ ganga

  • this reminds me of my grandmother ann dunmore. worked with Aids Connect

  • She is my favourite female singer. A very soft voice

  • Beautiful voice and song. Nothing like the original. Thanks for the album cover photos v nice.

  • @carolnca Our pleasure!

  • thank you barbara this song makes me feel youth all over again god bless you

  • Back when music was GOOD !

  • A #1 hit for Barbara Lewis on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 114th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #3 on the Top 40 charts. Her biggest hit.

  • To the reviewer who thinks this is slower than usual, if you are under 40 it is just you and the rest of everyone else that is younger. This is what Hello Stranger sounded like when I first started hearing it in 1970. The frequency of the C key needs to go back to what it was from the mid 80's on back to the 1800's. I hate today's standard concert pitch and how music has actually all been raised one comp-lete half step from yesterday. C major, this song's original key, is now old D-flat.

  • beautiful song from the best era for great songs the 60's

  • this is real love music i love that so much you can chacha to this iam a dj thats how i know

  • I'v always liked this song.Great voice.

  • Barbara Lewis, what a gem she was! Very classy lady, full of soul and love! Thanks for this rare great song!

  • How can one not be in a trance after listening to this? Oh I think this is not the recording that blew everyone away but it's still so good.

  • I understand that on this touching, bluesy, 1963 classic, Barbara Lewis was backed by the great soul group, the Dells (1968's "Stay In My Corner," etc.)

  • @HOT923LosAngeles I wish I had my 45's carrying case still...before my time I know...what do you think. Is there a lady on planet earth who can sing her song even as nice!....HOT923LosAngeles woe!..FOX!Rock'sCzar!51!

  • @foxyroxstar I think that she is best person to sing it. By the way check out or Facebook Page on Facebook Hot 92.3.

  • @HOT923LosAngeles ...Drift on into town with a voice like that...now I remember..I wuz trying to balance my words with your address @ HOT923LosAngeles!...but no doubt..a moonlight skate night Date night!

  • Miss Lewis, Thank you so very much for the beautiful music you made, in a world that is too often cruel. Barbara Lewis, thank you.

  • FLAMINGOS "I HAVE ONLY EYES FOR YOU"

  • WHAT CAROLE KING?GERRY GOFFIN PROMISED_BARBARA LEWIS w/ HELLO STRANGER DELIVERED WITH THAT MUSIC.After that,TODD R/JONI MITCHELL/LAURA NYRO./HALL +OATES/SCRIITTI POLITTI/ABC/JOE JACKSON(IS SHE_STEPPIN)/GO WEST.

  • Why the picture of Dinah Washington near the end? Did she record this song too?

  • This is slower than usual. Or is it just me? The pitch is a bit lower too. Maybe it's one of the first pressings that was transferred to CD.

  • @travis7310

Not slow...exactly how I remember it! It's one of my favorite songs of all time!

  • @travis7310 :

Not just you; it is slower, thus sounding lower in pitch.

  • @travis7310 yumpp it izzz

  • @travis7310 You're right. I think it's the hit version but somebody ran the turntable (or the tape) too slow.

  • My favorite song of all times!

  • @kybriargal Oh yes, I was there too in '63 and I still love this song by Barbara Lewis. I was 23 years old then!!!

  • As a 13-year-old, I was absolutely *entranced* by this wonderful song in the summer of 1963
