"I used to make phantoms I could later chase, images of all that could be desired. Then I got tired of counting all of these blessing, then I just got tired."
Great song, great band. First heard this in 1981 when I was 18. It has stayed with me ever since.
Magazine reached within me and put my current state-of-mind into lyrics backed up with ace tuneage. This is spot on. I only new of Strange Boutique's version and am oh-so-grateful it has put MAGAZINE's into view.
What could you really call this band, but art for art's sake (this is not a bad thing). The songwriting and the musicianship is too good to call it punk. For years I thought I was the only one who heard of this band. I was 12 when I latched onto them in '82, after they had disbanded. But I've found that I wasn't alone! Great band, very underrated (so it may seem anyway). Just as well, though, 'cos otherwise they'd have been a household name like Smashing Pumpkins or something...
Fucking cool..Too bad I was far too young to be in Melbourne when this gig was performed and recorded..The style and presentation of their music pisses over anything being released nowadays.
i have this album. Live in Melbourne too! a great band, very tight. Miss them!

@moooooooo427 reply to myself 3RRR FM used to play them a lot as they were a quality band back then.
The live album was a RRR collaboration i think. Anyway even in 2012 the live recording cuts it.
Great album.

Man, you ain't kidding! This live version from 1980 is much better than the studio cut. Who ever thought they'd tour again, sorry I missed it!

I know a good thing when I see it! I was young enough but the tour bus broke down on the M1! Punk's not dead!
