I think Willie Nelson is used to singing the lead-vocal, instead of the back-up vocal and the part seems also a bit too high for him. But both unique artists, in their own right, so it's worthwhile to see them perform together, anyway.
I'm 65, retired, kids are grown and doing well, and I'm here, a little high and listening and watching Paul Simon and Willie Nelson sing "Homeward Bound". Damn life is good!

This is an awesome collaboration, but if anyone can't keep up, its Simon. His normal delivery is like a frickin jackrabbit in heat.
@TheSarahfran Willie is honored to have Paul Simon on stage with him! Because he is one of the best songwriters ever and in my opinion has far better songs than Willie. Simon & Garfunkel are awesome!

There doesn't seem to be a place anymore for this kind of "guitar and voice" contemplative ballads. It's too bad, the simple honest things can touch you more than a full band and back-up dancers.
@terrybeaton I'm a huge fan of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Willie, etc and the acoustic guitar + voice thing is the kind of music that really moves me right now in my life. I've been listening to a lot of music by "The Tallest Man On Earth" and "Ray Lamontagne" (more current singer songwriter guys) these days and it just really feels right to me. If you end up checking out these artists, I hope you'll like it!

These lame fuckers nowadays with their autotune and 50 gay dancers cant get a reaction like this and all Paul and Willie are doing is playing acoustic guitars and singing.
Probably the best song writer to have ever lived. Not really my genre, but if you dont like this , you either dont like music or your not being honest. Watch the 2 girls in the audience melt as he sings ' I need someeone to comfort me' the younger in awe , the older one in memory of a lost love. Even Willie, a legend, realises he needs to take a back seat in this, an epic performance by a music god.

Willy does great on his own stuff. But, he always blows it when he sings with someone else because he can't keep meter. His phrasing is...is just Willy.
Yep, for sure, Willie hadn't prepared,or forgot what he had practiced. But he is a trooper, so we have to hand him that. Paul Simon sounds as good as he ever did. Both are awesome musicians and we are lucky to have them.

sorry folks, willie is off beat and paul is gritting his teeth in frustration. come on will! keep up! seen other versions and all i can say is, willie might be under the influence of marijuana!
I agree, WILLIE is AWESOME. If you love the way he sings, you'd love the way I sing. Think of (and I mean this in a good way) our favs who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.... Willie, Young, and Dylan. That's a good way of describing how I sound. LOL. Except, I never think I sound any good.
just...WOW....wow...I do have one question, though. Do you think these guys- not just Paul or Willie, but all the "greats"- do what we do? See themselves on video and say to themselves, "Holy Crap! I just sang with _____!" ? wow
That was just great! These are two of my all time favorite singer/song writers. I don't know, but there is just something about the way both Willie Nelson and Paul Simon phrase their lyrics and deliver their own unique individual sound, that just blows me away every time. I'm a musician and music teacher by trade and coming from that standpoint, their is just a wealth of musical and life knowledge to learn here. I feel so very fortunate to have grown up with this incredible music. Peace.
Willie is great, for as long as he has been around, he just loves to sing. You never hear anything bad about him, even from the the police officers that arrested him for possession which says a lot about his character. What a great legend to still have with us......
need someone to comfort me. who wouldnt want that? what a rendition! more heartfelt than original. the song has more meaning now to me since im away from my casa so often and in a constant state of turmoil and filth being a lawman.

@56ALEXX Is Willie 80? I thought he was born in 1932 - so even then he'd be awfully close. And people tend to forget that Willie wrote some of the greatest songs of our whole history - "Crazy" for one. And "Family Bible," which a lot of people think is an old folk song, or a public domain gospel song - but Willie wrote that! (He sold the rights for $50, because he was broke, but still...)
Ahhhh, the synthesis of my time on this earth, my East coast birth and my western life, played out on a stage by Paul's singing and Willie's picking.....
Viva Paul Simon !

Better to have remained silent and been thought a fool than to have spoken and removed all doubt. Not to mention it would be stretching the bounds of reason to think Willie Nelson gives a damn what people like you think of him.

Better to have remained silent and been thought a fool than to have spoken and removed all doubt. Not to mention it would be stretching the bounds of reason to think Willie Nelson gives a damn what people like you think of him.

Such a beautiful rendition of this song.....but my warped mind can't help but think...."Willie trims more hair of his head than Paul has left."

Nelson Is like 77 years old!
Simon on he oher hand Is only beggining his 70's.
If Johnny Cash was still alive, he would beat Nelson age!

This song, with these two great artists, makes me homesick for my origins in NY and my sweet daughter and her family who live there.
