While I applaud the intent, I don't agree with all the claims. There is obviously a large intercontinental variation among our peoples. To claim them all as one group is to ignore historical and linguistic evidence of diversity. By the way, cultivation of corn predates the Olmec, as well as civilization in the Americas. By over a thousand years. And Mayas genetically test closer to Carib peoples than they do to other nearby peoples. There is a common cause, but let's not be disingenuous either.

What i wanted to share was that the Olmec, were the first, thus far, who were able to establish a city and mass communication thanks to the sedentary life that corn allowed once it was organized and orchestrated via calendar sytems and worked in a city that had distribution of labor.

You know, unlike the white settlers or immigrants from Europe. Our culture is really concrete. The europeans stole most of what they claim as theirs. Of course the continent of turtle island, the egyptian, sumerian, and arab, including asian knowledge. But other areas, like in the Chicanos or in major Mexican cities like Nueva Leon, Jalisco, la DF, the evidence shows predominant European, ancestry 50%+

Thus to claim that all Mestizo populations should primarily identify as Indigenous and discredit their European heritage, is inaccurate. Some populations are definitely stronger in their indigenous side. Others have equal contributions, and some have more Eurpean contributions. And all of this was not rape. Many Basques and Gallegos, fled to Mexico and mixed with the locals, for example. Conversos or crypto-Jews as well. Many died for the right to be independent right next to Indigenous people.

That is why to claim that we are only indigenous, is not accurate. African Americans do the same thing claiming all European ancestry they have is from rape. Yet 40% of that contribution from White women. And marriages did occur, where many eurodescent people risked everything to side with their indigenous spouses. Their memory should be cherished as well. Same thing with Dominicans who remember the rape and pillage by Haitians and then see all African ancestry as a product of rape.

We are a mixture of people who conquered and was conquered, people who escaped from other lands for a better future and married the locals, people who hated and loved the locals, who exploited them, or made the ultimate sacrifice to protect them. All that history cannot be ignored. No one can rob us of our indigenous roots, but neither should we rob ourselves of our other roots.
