At least one other American artist covered the song: Donna Marie, a New York-based singer, had a "bubbling under" hit with the song. She would go on to bigger success with the Archies. Donna's duet with Ron Dante, "Who's Your Baby?" maxed out at #40
THIS should have been a bigger Hit than it was for LESLEY GORE. She does the best version of it - I'm not sure how high this climbed on the pop charts at the time -

I should have mentioned this is the 1968 winning song. Lesley Gore's version also was released by Mercury Records in 1968.
