i dont understand y ali is fighting on the inside so much, i understand he is fatigued but against frazier that's just dangerous! i mean Foreman i understand because of the reach but frazier? if sum1 can explain please do
Former heavyweight world champion Joe Frazier was arrested in February 2004 after police responded to a 911 domestic violence call from his North Philadelphia home. When police arrived a woman, the mother of Frazier's son, answered the door. She told the police that Frazier had hit her and there were injuries to her face to back up the claim. The charges were later dropped, after the woman refused to testify against Frazier.
Both Ali & Frazier were tenacious fighters when they have donned their boxing gloves. Their put their hearts, mind & soul in what they were doing & gave their very best.
They will always be cherished & remembered with great fondness & admiration for generations to come.
Farewell, Frazier. Others will follow you when the Angel of Death comes calling. It's only a matter of time.
6:55 At the beginning of the seventh round, Ali reportedly whispered in Frazier's ear, "Joe, they told me you was all washed up" Frazier growled back, "They told you wrong, pretty boy."
The amount of Ali holding behind Fraxier's head, clearly illegal, and not being sanctioned by the referee, makes me wonder about this fight being fixed in Ali's favor. These guys weren't young here, but this is a truly brutal fight. I would not want to be feeling what these guys felt like about the 14th round. I have not paid any attention to boxing since the late 80's, but I doubt there are many present day warriors going this deep into the well.
@2vintage68 And what about Frazier's head butts? Are those legal? Ali held onto opponent's heads most of his post-ban career. It clearly was not a big violation.
"Ali doing the holding as he has done most of the fight" .... Frazier will always beat Ali in a fair fight. this fight stopped against Fraziers request and 2nd fight Ali held approximately 44 minutes of the fight
These two guys are awesome. I'd swear that a couple of times when Ali gets hit by Frazier's left hook in the body, his feet pop off of the floor. Personally, I agree with messier that Frazier would have levelled Tyson, even though I've always had a bit of a soft spot for 'Iron Mike'. Tyson was a vicious powerhouse, but he didn't have Ali's technique, which is what saved Ali in this fight. But all modern comparisons aside, there is one thing no-one can deny - Both of these men are warriors.
Was there EVER a heavyweight fighter, champion or not, who held his opponents so much, collared behind the neck, which is illegal in boxing, and never had a point deducted for such cheap, dirty tactics? This is how Ali won fights. Just pathetic!
what the hell was the ref thinking of letting Ali hold every round with his hand on the back of the neck pulling Frazier's in so he could not punch, took away no points, just brushed the hand away, what bull shit that was.

@ceeloshady3 ---disagree. Frazier could never have beaten Tyson, due to styles. Same reason he could never beat Foreman---they hit too hard and Joe's style was to keep boring in, and would have walked into loads of punches. My heart would sure be with Joe though
@loyaldude10 but foreman didnt beat frazier becuse of punching he physically was able to push him off and then tee off and tyson could not fight inside he was more mid range which to hit frazier frazie could hit him.tyson wouldnt be able to push frazier off like foreman did
@onlyjoetee he couldnt really at this stage. he was 33, past his best and didn;t really train that well for the fight (he belvied the hype that joe was shot)
@evol121 bullshit man,you think 33 is past your best!!the greatest lb 4 lb fighter on earth today is past 33.would you undertrain for your greatest nemesis who had already knocked you down and beaten you once? for any reason at all!!
Amazing, epic fight. Watching Frazier, I can see the inspiration for mike Tyson's style. Cool because I think they're both 5'11'' 1/2 and it's a brilliant style for shorter heavyweights.
@disdajuice1 But, at the time, people were sayin that Ali was giving him a good going over ( Dunphy). Joe rolled, where as, Ali was taking square shots with full leverage. That's why Ali is what he is today, not just from Joe. He took a lot of square, on the button shots later in his career. He took them and usually won. He was a master, but some of his late career decisions were robberies.
Don King promoted this fight, and when asked what he remembers most about it by reporters back in the states upon his return, he immediately replied, "Frazier fought with such fury."
@jestrogooool -Ali won fight---Frazier could not see by the 14th rd. But this was it for Ali----he never was the same after this and hsould have retired. Frazier was never quite the same after 1st Ali fight.. they were so brutal and intense w/ each other that they in effect finished each other'off.
@loyaldude10 Ali should indeed have retired after this fight, he was never the same after this fight. It was hurting me to see him fighting against holmes...
and joe's corner stopped the fight because they knew there was no point for joe to get even more punishment . all ali had to do in the 15th was to stay on his feet.
