Oh, NO...Don't fall for humble pictures of Honduras...This country is crime ridden.
It is one of the most violent countries I have ever visited.
I visited Honduras Last June. I stayed in La Ceiba for 8 days before I was taken a hostage by a group of Hondurans. They took me to a mountain top in La Ceiba. After they took what I had in my wallet, they forced me to call the U.S. to send more money. I was tortured, bleeding, beaten, terrorized with machete and a machine gun.
@armaneee it is very weird that you end up in such a situation, and yes I have to admit that things are not the way it was in the past, but I enjoye going every year and nothing have ever hapened. and I was there in June, did you contacted the police.
@213vice I agree....Crime is everywhere. But what am I supposed to think? I have lived in the U.S. for the past 40 years. I have been to good neighborhoods and bad ones...nothing ever happened to me. But when I went to Honduras on a humanitarian reason, this happened.
Put yourself in my place...what am supposed to think?...that Honduras is safe?
While I was kidnapped, I was about to be kidnapped by a rival group. Wow!!
What would you think? Would you think that Honduras is safe?
@Sonitaabrego@minihugh .Idid.I escaped to the airport. I asked to talk to an English speaking police. No such luck!
Finally I spoke to an officer using my basic Spanish. He asked if I had any money to buy a soft drink. I assumed he thought I was thirsty. But NO! He wanted me to buy him a soda...oh, my god! I showed him my wallet with a few Lempiras in there. He decided not to take that away from me.He said he could only help me to retrieve my passport.
I love you everybody,
