Homo shit? Keep your comments to yourself.. you obviously do not know what it is like to go through something like this, or know and care enough about someone who has. Grow up.
@70sRob come on. i just love how ppl love to always blame the family and come up wiz bullshit like this oh if he just have loved him enough and accepted him. he did. love does not mean that u are responsible 4 everyone around u to feel good. the dad did everything he had to. it;s normal that he had expectations, but when it turned out that Chris is gay, h took it really well, he accepted it against his beliefs, coz he loved him.
Wow, If only his dad told him he loved him unconditionally no matter what and didn't put expectations and unrealistic pressure on him, then maybe Chris would be with us today. It's amazing to me that his family KNEW how bad he was hurting and didn't ACCEPT him because of their religious beliefs and their bullshit reasons???? His dad said he did it to himself. Yeah he did it to himself. How wonderful that is so everybody can feel good about themselves and not take any responsibility.
Intervention is based on the same technique as getting a false confession -- you create emotional discomfort so great, the person just wants to get the hell out of there...so he agrees to go to treatment just to get the F away from the intervention!
Malibu Horizons is an excellent facility, to be sure. Intervention, however, I believe is mostly unethical.
Shawn if your out there... I want you to know that I am deeply saddened by your loss. You are a truly beautiful, caring, and courageous person to take on another persons pain the way that you have and did. You loved this man so much you were willing to give up everything to save him from his own internal pain. Hunny people may have lectured you on how you dealt with his problems, but not many people in this world are willing to sacrifice their happiness to save another person from themselves.
oh was just reading some comments... so sorry to hear chris commited suicide ;( too bad he couldnt deal. looks like he had more than most to live for, but that doesnt guarantee inner peace.
@MAKER6450 The show never reveals anyone's last name in the program. There are obvious anonymous & privacy reasons why the show only entales everyone's first name only on this program. Sometimes going as far as having the subjects spell their names as well. For what reason , I don't know. But , the show never , ever has revealed any of the subjects of their programs. So , you will never hear anyone's last name , Chris' or anyone's last name for that matter at any time on this program series.
These two are a really great couple most gay men don't stay together that long.I hope these two make it and have the life they want and deserve.Cheers to them both.
you know when i heard of chris' suicide i felt like i lost a brother. it really hit home. especially since he looks identical to my friend tommy who is also gay and has an eating disorder. and Shawn's blog about it was so touching. I wish nothing but love and healing to the families and to Shawn.
It doesn't show it on this video, but this episode aired on A&E last week (I think) and it had an update that after the episode originally aired, Chris took his own life. :-(
My exhusband was an alcoholic. He died of an overdose 2 1/2 years after we divorced: alcohol and meth.
He was such a good person with a horrible disease. I left because I refused to be there and watch him die. It was one of the hardest things I ever did.
Its SO SAD that his dad says 2 him right b4 he leaves 4 rehab "I luv u Chris & i dont want u 2 die" & that the mom told him "I plan out ur funeral in my mind" & that that is something that they truly had 2 live thru. I HATE THIS DISEASE! Im a recovering addict but i hope that this shows everyone (addict or not) how much of a struggle this disease of addiction truly is. God Bless his family & his partner shawn & Im so happy that no one made any mean comments at all <3 RIP CHRIS
Wow! Shawn brings tears to my eyes. What a caring and loving soul. It's awesome that even in death, you can still touch the lives of complete strangers. Thank you Shawn for keeping the memory and the hope alive!
I think Chris could have benefited from therapy to help him overcome his internal struggle with being gay...the alcohol was actually a smaller problem. I know how hard it must have been for him.
I am so very, very sorry for Chris, Shawn and all their family and friends. He was very lucky to have so many caring people around him. I am just so sad he didn't make it to the end of his journey. Having been married to an alcoholic and having many in my family I can sympathise. How sad. R.I.P Chris :(
Thank you for posting this episode. I have been sober for 2 years and am also gay. It is important that I continue to see how devastating the disease of addiction is. My greatest condolences to Chris' family and friends.
I was just coming back to re-watch this episode. It was my absolute favorite. Chris was so obviously such a wonderful and loving person. It is heart-breaking to hear he gave up. I can't even imagine the residual torment that must have driven him there. Therapy can only reach so deep.
i feel alot of what chris said about his family and feeling second class is true. its like that for so many gay people. shawn is an amazing person. sadly tho i found all of chris' words to sound very hollow to me. i am always soconflicted with this show. i hope he has found peace now and i hope shawn goes on to find much happiness.
Although I am not gay it makes no difference love is love and can be felt by all we are the same age and similar circumstances and HANDS DOWN this video had the most impact on me and MY LIFE WILL CHANGE BECAUSE OF THIS.... THANK YOU
WOW, I can sympathize with addicts and their families much more after watching these programs. Nevertheless I really can't know what they go through. I always watch these shows in hopes of those happy endings. I was shocked to read of Chris' death. I really hope that Shawn and Chris' family can find peace. I hope Chris is also finally at peace surrounded by love. My thoughts are with you.
Oh my god I am so sorry. I met Chris on August 27th at a meeting. He sat right next to me. He was in such pain. I am so so sorry. This is such a powerful, cunning and baffling disease. I have struggled for a long time . My heart goes out to all of you. Please know that I care.
sadly, yes. I found out the next morning of his death. its completely horrible...chris and shawn just got engaged, finally after sooo long of being together and they were supposed to be married this year. I am visiting shawn today and can only have him in my heart and thoughts. what do u say to someone who has to go thru something like this?? its absolutely horrible
