  • very nice!

  • Wow, you have a nice sound on that horn!

  • This sackbut virtuosity of Mr . Lassalle makes this video one of the best trombone videos on youtube. Bravo!

BRAVO

  • Originally Mr. Ortiz supposed his piece to be played on viola da Gamba which is a much more fast and flexible instrument than a trombone - risky business for a brass man. I guess, with an of course not contemporary valve trombone, that guy would have a better chance to match it.

  • *sackbutt, that's no trombone, friend :)

I suppose he's displaying his skills by playing a fast piece, and he pulled it off nicely :) another thing about valved trombones is they just don't sound the same.

  • Sackbutt is indeed the Anglo-French word for what is called in Italy "trombone" - since its invention by Hans Neuschel in the 15th century, who himself named it "Posaune". By the way, the word trombone just means "big trumpet" whereas saqueboute or sackbut means "pull and push". The German "Posaune" refers to some brass instruments which are mentioned in the Bible. Anyway, there's no need to choose whatever piece if you are barely able to carry it out. But may be, he just had a bad day. Peace

  • I thought he did pretty well actually.

    Peace.

  • I LOVE EARLY MUSIC!!!!!!!!! Vive les Toulousains!

  • Does anyone know what these sacqueboutes are tuned in? They look like Tenor sacqueboutes, I'm not sure, they could be Basses. I really love their old sound and style for conert solos.

  • they are tenors.

if they were basses they would have handles

  • Bravo,

une belle démonstration de la sacqueboute.
