Oh dear, the tuning has really slipped and singing it up a semitone hasn't helped. Sorry! I've sang this and I'm an alto so I know how difficult it can be to be confident on the note and slide out of pitch.
This is a beautiful performance indeed. A couple comments:
1. This performance is sung a half-step above the written pitch. I would know, my school's concert choir sang it on our most recent concert and I have perfect pitch.
2. I wish the men would have had a fuller sound at "Let not your heart...". That is the climax of the piece and it doesn't sound very climatic.
Other than those picky things, it's absolutely lovely!
Dude, I live live in Neenah (like 30 minutes from Fond du Lac). Anyway, we sang this song in our 2008 WELS National Choral Festival. The boys do not sound like men, though. They do not sound mature. The girls have a lovely sound in most spots, some of the high soprano notes are harsh though. I enjoyed it!
I think this will always and forever be my most favorite choral piece. Listening to it makes me miss us! And this year we didn't have Craig saying "tit" in the song! : )
I just have one question...did you happen to record The Lord Bless You?
Brilliant! :-D

Excellent performance. You don't see too many high school choirs that are this good :)

espressivo:
1. Our director decided that he wanted us to sing this a half step up, it was simply his preference.
2. Yes, our choir tried to work a lot on a full sound with the men. Let's just say some days were better than others.

Unfortunately, my parents did not have the presence of mind to record the most important song in our repertoire. :(
