@david1232829 I think being a pilot is a good job.Great fun, you meet new people everytime. good payment, but it's not so much of a family job, due to a lot of time away from your family. But that depends on if you're flying around the world or just in-country.
Keep reaching for the stars. - Regards from a pilot fresh out of the oven
@jayflies737 this may not be the correct answer for this particular flight, but one time i remember being in the cockpit of an A-319 abd the pilot didnt connect the cable from the generator to the plane correctly, and the lights and the instruments started flickering.
@trevonvivens123 The instruments aren't flickering as much as they appear, because those screens are basically TV screens, (plasma screens in A321's etc) they flicker at a slightly different rate to the camera used for filming, so the flicker rate is bigger. On board in real life the screens don't flicker like this as all.
it would be nice if you could become a pilot entirely from a pilot degree of some sort instead of having to have another career to fund the training course and degree. if somebody really likes flying and wants ot make that there doing in life then they should have the chance to do that and the flying degree and training should be all they need if thats the route they want to take.
They do in other countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, mideast, India. All these countries have excellent regional airlines too. And captains don't have to do anything besides flight training.
US/Canada are really fucked with deregulation that the airline execs along with the scaremonger media are screwing the employees of this industry. Even US airline services are sub par compared to what you would get in an international airline.
In mideast, if you work for Emirates Airlines, starting salary is $7000.00/month, no taxes, and you get housing accomodation. I am sure you need only 250-300 hours to be a 1st officer.
I would never recommend anyone be a pilot in the US...you can fly small airplanes for a hobby though. Just ask captain Sully.
@dingoklectos its got to the point now where the are applicants far exceed the positions availible. Im not sure if i would really want to play that game. the chances are you could do youre training and maybe never find employment. that would be such a waste. it doesn't sound like a good game
Trust me, there are many positions available, only thing is the pay is $18-20K /yr (poverty level)...so you can live on food stamps, drive a Kia and live in your mom's basement ('you' meaning not you, but whoever is going to be a commercial pilot).
Being an expatriate pilot with an international airline is much better, you will get really good wages, since other countries don't have turboprops - they use only jets even for regionals, and the # of pilots are not as high as US.
im just wanting to fly not for job to build a nice plane fly it at dusk at dawn do you have to renew your pl how much is it to get the one and how long
Best way to think about flying is not to think about being paid to do it till you've got a CPL. Until that point, expect to pay to fly. Even with a CPL, unless you get lucky with a regional, expect to be flying cessna caravans over crap hours for not much money till you have a few thousand hours PIC. Then a regional might take you.
@JcnoProductions im 15 and want to be a pilot they ive talked to soem pilots and i have been told do your best to train in your own country and it will cost 60 to 100k euros hope this kind of helps good luck ;)
@bradleyaiello its not as hard to get into, but you have to pretty much break the bank to pay for college and flight school. i wanna be an airline pilot too. and im also 14. im planning on joining the US army and becoming a warrant officer and fly helicopters and use the money and experience to get me to where i want to be. good luck on the future (:
To all the Captains out there, I have the perfect gift for you - "The Captains Switch" Check out my latest video to see it. DON'T let those pesky Co-Pilots touch it !!
So, if you want to be an airliner pilot, not regional or private, what you need? lets put an example, Aeroflot, the mayor russian airline. I'm 15 I'm from Lima-Peru but I will study on Jacksonville FL
What I meant is you should never start *your career* as a pilot. Start as an engineer, computer programmer or something technical if you love a technical field.
This guy speaks the truth. You should never start as a pilot. If you love flying, get a Private/Instrument and perhaps even Commercial (if you have money), CFII, Multi-engine and get 100s of hours as a flight instructor....upto 1500 hours.
Regional airlines hire 250-500 hours, but their pay really sucks, you won't be able to make ends meet. I would skip the regionals, unless you are rich and have a lot of money in the background.
When we say "Nosewheel Steering Armed" is that for a "Tiller-Wheel" application only? meaning, aren't the Rudders generally either via Linkages or Fly-by-Wire, directly connected to actuate Nosewheel Direction? could someone please expound on this a bit for me? trying to understand this System. additionally, why then are we "ARMING" this system? shouldn't it either just be ON or OFF, yes?
wat r u talking about? u dnt need a college degree to become a pilot, sure it might help, it could be your plan b but u dnt particularly need it. id join the air force but u have to serve them for like 10-15 years way too long!

Regionals - They give a damn about your hours but not education.
Majors - They give a damn about your EDUCATION(4 yrs Degree) and your FLYING HOURS...
yea i agree with you with the major airlines... i searched many major airlines and they do require a bachelor's degree thats y after flight school im gonna do a bachelors degree in computer system engineering.
i knw this is a lot of work i dnt even knw if i can do it. im actually getting nervous now :D
@redfoxarts i know right dey not have as much link from highschool to getting there but being rich and paying for a pilot school of get a degree which is for sponsorship which is really i mean its soo hard its not 100% that youll get a grade a so why do so if that means you wont be chosen tfor the sponsorship with all these smarter people having greater grades than you soooo ya
@westoaux a college degree is required for ALL major airlines, and by definition a major airline is an airline that receives over $1 billion a year. That's basically 95% of all planes that you see at any International airport, anywhere from Southwest to Lufthansa to US Airways to Delta etc etc.
@westoaux ya but to be able to have sponsorship you need college degree bs which 99% of has got nothing to do with piloting it self. the hardest maths in piloting is trig and yet i have to study all these binomial crap its killing me
@westoaux well for a sponsorship you need to have i think 4 a-c gcse including english math and science or something plus 2 a lvels a-c also they prefer the a levels to be maths and physics so i mena what are the chances of being picked for a sponsorship if you dotn do maths and physics as a levels surely atleast 1 people will learn those 2 and get picked instead of you . but if you dont want to be sponsored then you have to have money sooo ya
dude no. for pilots its 10-15 years. for aircraft technicians, avionics technicians, medics, mechanist, intelligence, etc.... all between 4-6 years give or take couple of years.
you need a medical certificate, you can start at 15 but cant get your license till 17, you dont need a diploma just a place to start. i actually got scholarships to pay for my flight training and just completed my first solo! i recommend going to your local airport and talking to a flight instructor about a discovery flight so you can go up that day and know if you would like to becmoe a pilot or not.
MrMasterpilot, you need to be 17 years old, hold a 3rd class medical certificate, complete all the required flying experience and ground instruction and pass the FAA written and practical tests. Of course that's only to get a private license. A commercial license is a bit more involved.
I shall admit. I am crying now because I have a very mild minor case of genetically inherited epilepsy problem. My only dream was to fly and I know that I will never pass the EEG scan test. =(
Can you fly an airplane when you are 16? How? Please answer. I love airplanes. I want to be a pilot. What's the point of going to college if you can be a pilot even if you never went to college. Please reply. Do you have to start with small airplanes or will they promote you to big airplanes when you finish college. Please please answer
The answer is yes, you can solo an airplane at 16. I'm currently 15 and taking flight lessons to earn my Private Pilot's License (PPL). College provides a good basis to aviation and makes you look good as a possible employee to an airline. If you go to college to be a commercial pilot, you will have to earn a few ratings (Instrument, Multi-Engine, ATP) When you first get out of college, if you're lucky you will be employed by a regional airline, flying smaller planes and work up. Hope this helps
SaulBasley, FR still taking a lot of guys on. Turbos in Vietnam are sat with empty RHS's right now, so there's plenty out there if you're willing to move around a bit. Could try mentioning that to your mates! Loooong way to go, but hey, if they need the hours that bad I'm sure they'll do it ;-)
wow that pilot made everythign seem so negative :| like he said its a struggle and it takes years to come into an airline pilot and not to mention its hard to find a job.. and also you will be picking up garbage? WTH! im so scared i wanna be a pilot and im scared if ill end up no where :|
Well, at the moment things are that bad!! The days of 200hr guys getting into RHS of an airline are gone for a while, I know litterally dozens of pilots, with experience and without looking for work, just count myself lucky i've still got a job!
Lol. I want to do that too. He is negative. But he was talking about canada I think. In the U.S it's probably alittle easier to become a pilot. When you finish college will they promote you to the big airplanes or do you have to start with the small airplanes?
When you gradute from College or Uni, you probully have like 200hrs...but then you need start working for small airlines liek bush flying or charter. You`ll probully spend about 5 yrs in these smaller airplanes and yodu have about 2000hrs or so. THen you can apply to a major airline, but remind you their are better oppertuinties over seas like Dubai(emirates) and carrbien and places like those...Also a better way to get flying hours is to join the military! Its a big bonus
there's a lot more safety in flight than there is in driving, just think of it, if every fucking 17 year old boy had a cessna 152, that would be fucked up.
Unfortunately there's no aviation college in Italy! There's like aerospace engineering but it doesn't really make sense to do that.. So I decided that I'll start the JAA integrated first officer program that will take me 18 months.
driving your car is a lot more dangerous. I went solo when i was 16 after only 3 weeks of trainning. Compare that to 6 months on a learners car lisence.
I'm 17 I'm starting at summer too I hope, so try to contact airline companies, get there attention, make a deal with them they pay for training and you fly for them.
I go to aircadets and im 15 that should help me alot because we fly or glide 3 times or 4 a month so try to do stuff like that. Also im from england so we have a levels so i have to take (to become an airline pilot) maths and physics they are esential. You get your pilot licence when yopur 19 i think so it will be tough but the rewards are great so don't give it up.
I am enrolling to OXFORD AVIATION COLLEGE this summer i am soo exited because since i was a kid i wanted to fly and always wondered where those jets that flown over my house were going so wish me luck.
in canada its true about starting as a comercial pilot and having to live and do flights up north in remote locations.
Having to live in Iqualuit for 2 years like the pilot said would be brutal. Ive been to iqualuit, there is 1 movie theatre, 2 bars, and some hotels, as well as hovels everywhere and 10 year olds whipping around on 4 wheelers doing 60 klicks lol
you need some math, not an excessive amount though. I was horrible at math in school, and am getting along fine in my pilot training. don't let people hold you back by saying you need to be a math whiz and all that, if it's what you want to do, take the chance and do it, you won't regret your decision to become a pilot
There is no lower age limit to start to learn to fly. It is not like driving a car. Lesson one does not start at the takeoff. You have to be 16 to fly your first solo circuit {take off, fly the circuit patern and land with no one else in the aircraft) this is about mid way through training for private pilots licence. Then you must be 17 before your licence is active but you can apply for it 30 days before 17th birthday.
This depends on the country you reside in, of course. I live in Australia and here we can go solo at 15 and carry one passenger at 15 (but you can't do navs) (under RAA). While you have to be 17 to hold a PPL.
not at all man...i mean make sure you pass yes, but AMAZING no. I had trouble in school my whole life graduated with about a C average, but i always wanted to fly so school wasn't going to hold me back. The airlines could care less what you did in high school as long as you have a diploma, and they don't care where you went to college or what you studied. You don't even need a degree for most regional jobs.
I'am interested in becoming a pilot and I want to know about how much does it cost to become a ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) and how much do you make in the entry level?
lets see...from zero hours to flight instructor, which you will need unless your doing another form of flying to build your hours towards your ATP, your looking at roughly $55,000. Believe it or not, this is on the low end. You can easily spend upwards of $100,000 depending on where you go to fly.
what PPL in Macedonia is around 10000$ and afterwords you find a sponsor, (airplane company) It should be possible without spending more than 15000$ and for the academy you must have a sponsor unless you're ready to pay more than earn from flying.
You know the strangest thing is before I became a pilot, I liked flying but was always afraid of who's behind the yoke....Now that I'm a pilot, I'm afraid to fly on airlines because I'm not behind the yoke!!!! I'm still like this! I'd rather go rent a putt putt Cessna 172 or Piper Warrior than pay for airline tickets!!
This is great Momo....I have always dreamt of becoming a pilot! It's the Canadian National Air Show in Toronto this weekend...so this is great timing!!! Hope to hear from you soon, buddy! YOU ROCK!
I am quite surprised you were allowed access to the cockpit. I will assume ,you made prior arrangements with the airline and security.
A friend of mine has his private pilot's license, and we go flyig often. He hands off to me,and I can fly.I can even do approaches for landing, and takeoffs.

@redfoxarts i know right dey not have as much link from highschool to getting there but being rich and paying for a pilot school of get a degree which is for sponsorship which is really i mean its soo hard its not 100% that youll get a grade a so why do so if that means you wont be chosen tfor the sponsorship with all these smarter people having greater grades than you soooo ya
keith18ad 1 year ago
@westoaux a college degree is required for ALL major airlines, and by definition a major airline is an airline that receives over $1 billion a year. That's basically 95% of all planes that you see at any International airport, anywhere from Southwest to Lufthansa to US Airways to Delta etc etc.
NavyAviation2016 1 year ago
@westoaux ya but to be able to have sponsorship you need college degree bs which 99% of has got nothing to do with piloting it self. the hardest maths in piloting is trig and yet i have to study all these binomial crap its killing me
keith18ad 1 year ago
u have to study wat? im not really worried about maths. im more worried about the science stuff.
are you in a pilot school right now? is it hard?
westoaux 1 year ago
@westoaux well for a sponsorship you need to have i think 4 a-c gcse including english math and science or something plus 2 a lvels a-c also they prefer the a levels to be maths and physics so i mena what are the chances of being picked for a sponsorship if you dotn do maths and physics as a levels surely atleast 1 people will learn those 2 and get picked instead of you . but if you dont want to be sponsored then you have to have money sooo ya
keith18ad 1 year ago
@keith18ad
I have A in Maths and Physics along with another 4 A's and 7 B's for GCSEs.
However I currently studying Maths Biology Chemistry Philosophy and Greek at AS level...
Do you think I have a good chance as long as I at list get A in Alevel Maths and do Maths as a degree?
I could find the money but it would not be too easy for my family to pay and I really wouldn't want to rely so much on my parents.

lol dude you dont join the air force for 10-15 years. the minimum is 4-6 years..
nymetfan91 2 years ago
dude no. for pilots its 10-15 years. for aircraft technicians, avionics technicians, medics, mechanist, intelligence, etc.... all between 4-6 years give or take couple of years.
westoaux 2 years ago
you need a medical certificate, you can start at 15 but cant get your license till 17, you dont need a diploma just a place to start. i actually got scholarships to pay for my flight training and just completed my first solo! i recommend going to your local airport and talking to a flight instructor about a discovery flight so you can go up that day and know if you would like to becmoe a pilot or not.
matt98stang 2 years ago
MrMasterpilot, you need to be 17 years old, hold a 3rd class medical certificate, complete all the required flying experience and ground instruction and pass the FAA written and practical tests. Of course that's only to get a private license. A commercial license is a bit more involved.

I shall admit. I am crying now because I have a very mild minor case of genetically inherited epilepsy problem. My only dream was to fly and I know that I will never pass the EEG scan test. =(
It's like somebody just pulled my heart out.

Coolboez930 2 years ago

WTH! im so scared i wanna be a pilot and im scared if ill end up no where :|
ihaveabigtv 2 years ago
Well, at the moment things are that bad!! The days of 200hr guys getting into RHS of an airline are gone for a while, I know litterally dozens of pilots, with experience and without looking for work, just count myself lucky i've still got a job!
SaulBasley 2 years ago
Lol. I want to do that too. He is negative. But he was talking about canada I think. In the U.S it's probably alittle easier to become a pilot. When you finish college will they promote you to the big airplanes or do you have to start with the small airplanes?
Coolboez930 2 years ago
When you gradute from College or Uni, you probully have like 200hrs...but then you need start working for small airlines liek bush flying or charter. You`ll probully spend about 5 yrs in these smaller airplanes and yodu have about 2000hrs or so. THen you can apply to a major airline, but remind you their are better oppertuinties over seas like Dubai(emirates) and carrbien and places like those...Also a better way to get flying hours is to join the military! Its a big bonus
ihaveabigtv 2 years ago
Are you crazy. I'm not joining the army. I want to fly, not die. So it takes about 10 years to be a pilot of a mayor airline. I can wait!!!
Coolboez930 2 years ago
lmao thats your opinion :)....yea rougly about 5 years or so, there no rush time will pass
ihaveabigtv 2 years ago
uhhhhh military is by far the best way to go!! why didn't this guy say anything about the military

In the Miltary , you get your fighter liscence but;after you leave you have to take your ATP, Which is round-about £19,000.
12345dann 2 years ago
there's a lot more safety in flight than there is in driving, just think of it, if every fucking 17 year old boy had a cessna 152, that would be fucked up.
verizana 2 years ago
What is he saying about the plan B?! Like to have another sort of education while you fly??
m1r3o 2 years ago
yea that would be the most sensible idea.. i'm going to do Engineering and Aviation when i go to college
locdown120 2 years ago
Unfortunately there's no aviation college in Italy! There's like aerospace engineering but it doesn't really make sense to do that.. So I decided that I'll start the JAA integrated first officer program that will take me 18 months.
m1r3o 2 years ago
U dont have to go to college or university to become an ariline pilot
1994DavidLotro 2 years ago
I rather be an aircraft mechanic instead of being pilot. I don't care if the pilot make more bucks than me.
I like to work with the gasturbine, wind turbine and their others as well.

Looks so fun but it's risky.
I would love to become a pilot one day.
God willing*

driving your car is a lot more dangerous. I went solo when i was 16 after only 3 weeks of trainning. Compare that to 6 months on a learners car lisence.

You need to be very healthy, sharp minded, and have stamina definitely.
sfsoundhound 3 years ago
in canada its true about starting as a comercial pilot and having to live and do flights up north in remote locations.
Having to live in Iqualuit for 2 years like the pilot said would be brutal. Ive been to iqualuit, there is 1 movie theatre, 2 bars, and some hotels, as well as hovels everywhere and 10 year olds whipping around on 4 wheelers doing 60 klicks lol

taylor2142 3 years ago
so you dont need any math what so ever?
somaliboy3123 2 years ago
you need some math, not an excessive amount though. I was horrible at math in school, and am getting along fine in my pilot training. don't let people hold you back by saying you need to be a math whiz and all that, if it's what you want to do, take the chance and do it, you won't regret your decision to become a pilot

somaliboy3123 2 years ago
There is no lower age limit to start to learn to fly. It is not like driving a car. Lesson one does not start at the takeoff. You have to be 16 to fly your first solo circuit {take off, fly the circuit patern and land with no one else in the aircraft) this is about mid way through training for private pilots licence. Then you must be 17 before your licence is active but you can apply for it 30 days before 17th birthday.
capacityplus 2 years ago
This depends on the country you reside in, of course. I live in Australia and here we can go solo at 15 and carry one passenger at 15 (but you can't do navs) (under RAA). While you have to be 17 to hold a PPL.
lissy1025 2 years ago
DO you need AMAZING grades in school to do this kind of job?
SpartanW98 2 years ago
not at all man...i mean make sure you pass yes, but AMAZING no. I had trouble in school my whole life graduated with about a C average, but i always wanted to fly so school wasn't going to hold me back. The airlines could care less what you did in high school as long as you have a diploma, and they don't care where you went to college or what you studied. You don't even need a degree for most regional jobs.
taylor2142 2 years ago
im a D average because my teacher is racist

I'am interested in becoming a pilot and I want to know about how much does it cost to become a ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) and how much do you make in the entry level?
Mirso1994 2 years ago
lets see...from zero hours to flight instructor, which you will need unless your doing another form of flying to build your hours towards your ATP, your looking at roughly $55,000. Believe it or not, this is on the low end. You can easily spend upwards of $100,000 depending on where you go to fly.
taylor2142 2 years ago
what PPL in Macedonia is around 10000$ and afterwords you find a sponsor, (airplane company) It should be possible without spending more than 15000$ and for the academy you must have a sponsor unless you're ready to pay more than earn from flying.

If you have any questions on it I'd be glad to ask any questions to him for anyone.

Hmmm that was fun, I suppose it would be pretty cool if i became a pilot with a name like liljet.

Hello Momo.
I am quite surprised you were allowed access to the cockpit. I will assume ,you made prior arrangements with the airline and security.
A friend of mine has his private pilot's license, and we go flyig often. He hands off to me,and I can fly.I can even do approaches for landing, and takeoffs.
