At one year they can cause humans extreme harm and are NOT pets. To get them are you willing to kill their entire families? What will you do with them when they are 2 or 3 years old and you can't control them anymore and they destroy the house or rip off your arm?? It is selfish to want a wild animal as a pet.
I saw the documentary last year about KOKO. Many years ago that sign language program was defunded and KOKO then lived at a zoo. 14 years later KOKO's former trainer was brought to the habitat. KOKO just stared at her for 30 minutes, then KOKO came over and in sign language said,
