I'm struggling to find any evidence of this agenda you mention anywhere in the lyrics, Wyrdtimes.
As far as the music itself is concerned I'm in agreement with you; there's not a lot of substance and I'd rather listen to an interpretation of the proper tune anyday (ELP's does nicely).
But the point of this effort seems to me to be largely in the lyrics, which follow in one of this country's best traditions of satirical social comment and poking fun at establishment and authority figures.
It's also very in keeping with William Blake's (author of the original poem) social idealism.
Whether you're a nationalist or a liberal surely everyone can agree that voter apathy is a bad thing.
Lyrics like "...Britain, Where nobody votes for the election, but everybody votes for Big Brother eviction" highlight a social problem and could inspire a couple of people to go and vote next time, helping us to take a small but important step from "dark satanic mills" to a "green and pleasant land".
I don't understand how mentioning Britain makes this track shite. For one thing the lyrics acknowledge that there is conflict between nations ("we ain't all united in United Kingdom").
I think that through MC Nobody, Sway and Patrick Neale are using intelligent lyrics, humour and satire to making interesting points about complex issues.
That's got to be better than the kind of reactionary nationalism, extreme thinking and resentment towards other nations that your own comments seem to suggest.

Mentioning Britain doesn't make it shite. The butchering of a great English hymn into multiculti drivel makes it shite.
If my comment seems reactionary consider what it's reacting against.
Consider. The Barnett Formula, the West Lothian Question and the lack of an English Parliament and the implications for everyone in England and you'll see why.
Why exactly is it 'multi-cultural' drivel? From the info on this page the aim is to create "a thoughtful satire of England as it is now". That's a million miles away from being PC for the sake of it.
If there is something about the music that you don't like (e.g. the beat or the lyrics) then fair enough - maybe that could be down to personal taste. With respect, your reaction still seems very over the top.
I'll do the research you suggest if you read the book. We might both learn something.

Musically I think it is dire. Maybe intentional but the original is a beautiful piece of music.
Just listened again and contrary to my previous post the Brtishness is the problem for me.
The British establishment is trying to eradicate England. Literally trying to wipe it off the map (see English regions). To aid this aim the establishment is doing all it can to eradicate "Englishness"
This is Brit propaganda aimed at the young with a pro Brit anti English agenda.
Everyone's tastes are different so fair enough if you don't like grime or hip hop. I also think the original Jerusalem is a stirring piece of music but I don't personally see a contradiction with also appreciating this new track.
I can see you have some strong views about Britain and England but are there any specific lyrics here that are actively pushing this 'British agenda'? Personally all I see is a witty satire and commentary and not anything as partisan or sinister as you're suggesting.
We associate the UK with Gordon Brown or Prince Harry going to some gay ass ceremony or something else we don't care about.
This highlights the utter ridiculousness of the English monarchy today. The question we all wanna know here in the states is why the fuck do you guys still have one? roffle. Thats one family that should be keeping their head low after all the atrocities theyve been responsible for Maybe you guys should vote them out- no wait
Love this tune!!

Getting late and there is no time or space to go into the details.
Hope you research those issues. TheCEP is a good place to start. I'll read the book.

Yes, limited space on YouTube comments doesn't make it easy to have a debate.
I'll have a look at those issues you mentioned and I'll also read the book.
