IMO the R32/Golf R is a total waste. I own a GTI and I love it...but I was going to spend 10k more, I'd get an actual sports car, not a VW that is trying to be too many things at once.
Put a turbo in the R32 and there u have the best car.. The R32 in better looking inside and outside, its just slower but like i said, just put a turbo and it'll go to 400 hp and leave the evo full of dust...
they all are good cars. I always had subaru's and I love them. I had 02 wrx 04 sti 08 impreza non turbo and my pride and joy 2011 sti. Handles like a dream man i'll tell you that much. I would go with an sti bro. Thats just me. Also it depends what you like and what you can afford. STI's have really good engines and bullet proof tranies. Also keep in mind that evo's are still dominating STI's in handling wise.
Subaru is sick but leave in the rally section, the evo is for cheap queers who have to beat someone in a race(you turn a bolt and you gain 50 horsepower), r32 sounds the sickest, awd is a plus, looks the sickest even though mark 4 looks the best.
well this video is no good now since the GSR is 7 grand more expensive than the STi in Canada. as well as not even as nice to drive. I like how he didn't mention that the STi can split traction side to side like the evo.
Those numbers are way messed, i own a r32 and love it, but 5.4 to 60...not a chance. Even with the dsg and launch control, you could maybe get 5.8 if youre lucky. Also their prices are wrong, back in 2008 i couldnt find a decently spec'd evo for less than 39000$, similarly spec'd sti's were around 37000$ and the golf was around 33000$, so this comparison=eff'd in the a

Both Top Gear and CARandDriver agree, the GSR is the better car. Mitsubishi really went all out with this one, considering it's also a 4 door family car.

@TheNothar From what i understand is IN japan, they are actually all limited to like 112 MPH or sumthin along those lines, which is where you get your 180 kph (111.8 mph). This is due i believe to the fact that the police cars there are not capable of keeping up with anything faster than that, and rather spend money to get faster cars for the police, they just limit everyone else.

Just gotta say between the subaru and mitsubishi, I looked very thoroughly over the internet and found a bunch of people replacing the transmission on,the evo's after about 25,000miles or for even giving the engine more power, the wrx can handle having 500hp and the STI 600hp, both with the stock engines and transmissions. The subaru's are really reliable and long lasting as well
@BmathFromGab i test drove the sti and the r32, and the r32 wasn't as fast, but there was just something more elegant and refined about it. plus everyone has an sti.... so i bought a mk4 r32 and i love it. most pencil pushers who buy STIs cant even drive anyway. so they usually lost when it comes to racing.
@eric62backstrom Im from Northern Ontario. Your R32 would be useless here. The Subaru's dominate up here in real weather conditions. And I mean everything from 3 feet of snow, loose gravel, mudd, black ice, and tarmac all in 2 km of road.

VW's are nice cars to drive when they actually work. My mate has had 2 golfs and both of them have had something stuff up. First one snapped the clutch cable, second one had an electronic problem where it had some light flash on the dash and limited the power or something like that. Im not saying they are bad cars, i like VW's, and are very nice to drive...... But i have a Subaru Legacy with 310,0000km's on the clock, and it still runs like new and never had a problem.. Need i say anymore.

The Subaru only has a lot of turbo lag for this video testing because in the first 1000 miles of its life from off the lot the computer chip inside is trying make the turbo fit your driving style. trust me i own a subaru and thats what the guy at the dealership told me. plus i felt the turbo lag everytime id try to get up and go for the first 1000 miles but after that, the turbo is very punchy. the subaru is 0-60 in 4.6 sec! look on any website. screw you car and driver..

Just to prove a point about VW's, fun to drive if u have the money to fix them... Shit the 1st 4 cars were VWs (69 Bug, 90 G60 Corrado, 87 GLI, and 88 Cabrio). I also had 6 bikes. I just got sold my SRT-4 and that was a lot of fun. I never had a problem with it. That car was one of the best rides i've ever owned. I would buy another in a sec! I've had 2 Mec's (c230 coupe and 4door), which the 4dr start have TCU and Tranny bushing problems. I have a 2011 WRX limited and I Love it!

Just gotta say between the subaru and mitsubishi, I looked very thoroughly over the internet and found a bunch of people replacing the transmission on,the evo's after about 25,000miles or for even giving the engine more power, the wrx can handle having 500hp and the STI 600hp, both with the stock engines and transmissions. The subaru's are really reliable and long lasting as well

@BmathFromGab i test drove the sti and the r32, and the r32 wasn't as fast, but there was just something more elegant and refined about it. plus everyone has an sti.... so i bought a mk4 r32 and i love it. most pencil pushers who buy STIs cant even drive anyway. so they usually lost when it comes to racing.

@eric62backstrom Im from Northern Ontario. Your R32 would be useless here. The Subaru's dominate up here in real weather conditions. And I mean everything from 3 feet of snow, loose gravel, mudd, black ice, and tarmac all in 2 km of road.
The R32 to me is something a secretary would get. Sorry it just isn't functional enough for us up here.

Drive down here to Plymouth Stave University and ill have you towing your car home on a flat bed, boy. U think just because you have a little bit more power and acceleration that I have a bitch car? haha I'm a mechanic and a stereo installer. And I run world class snow tires. Suck it. VW's are nice cars to drive when they actually work. My mate has had 2 golfs and both of them have had something stuff up. First one snapped the clutch cable, second one had an electronic problem where it had some light flash on the dash and limited the power or something like that. Im not saying they are bad cars, i like VW's, and are very nice to drive...... But i have a Subaru Legacy with 310,0000km's on the clock, and it still runs like new and never had a problem.. Need i say anymore.

I have beat the SHIT out of my r32 for three years on a daily basis and have never done anything besides replace 2 coils. AND it has over 120k miles on it. lets see your legacy keep up.

The Subaru only has a lot of turbo lag for this video testing because in the first 1000 miles of its life from off the lot the computer chip inside is trying make the turbo fit your driving style. trust me i own a subaru and thats what the guy at the dealership told me. plus i felt the turbo lag everytime id try to get up and go for the first 1000 miles but after that, the turbo is very punchy. the subaru is 0-60 in 4.6 sec! look on any website. screw you car and driver..

@Matty231 I believe mitsu breaks in the motor on the evos ( and I think sub. on the STIs) on a machine, so that when you get them, you are able to do this if you choose to. Though i wouldn't suggest it haha.

@ear12861 your exaggeration of VW problems is very comical, however if a VW (any car for that matter) is properly maintained it will last forever, ive had 2 VWs with no major problems nothing more than some minor electrical stuff. compared to the EVO and STI the R32 is nowhere close performance wise but in terms of quality it blows both away

Just to prove a point about VW's, fun to drive if u have the money to fix them... Shit the 1st 4 cars were VWs (69 Bug, 90 G60 Corrado, 87 GLI, and 88 Cabrio). I also had 6 bikes. I just got sold my SRT-4 and that was a lot of fun. I never had a problem with it. That car was one of the best rides i've ever owned. I would buy another in a sec! I've had 2 Mec's (c230 coupe and 4door), which the 4dr start have TCU and Tranny bushing problems. I have a 2011 WRX limited and I Love it!
