@ryan85oh - This is obviously a lip-synch, however I wonder where the recording comes from, since it is not the studio recording from Ghosts in the Machine.
This is a cool version of this song. It kind of sounds like an earlier version than what' on Ghost in the Machine, however, I still much prefer the original.
Yeah, it is. Both Sting and Andy were actually sponsored by Hamer around the Zenyatta/ Ghost-period, but on tapes and pictures I have, it doesn't seem they were used much by them, except for promo-pictures and such. You can see Sting playing around with this bass on "The Police around the world"-video (Soundcheck: "Canary in a coalmine"-rif). It has a distinct "octaved" sound. Sting also had a four-stringed Hamer.
@thepolice281 Im guessing because he was pretty content with using the Tele and also a few strats and maybe one or two oddball guitars. He may've used it live in that era ; theres not a lot of documented concerts from that era to show
@thepolice281 thats a Chiquita "travel guitar"....fully functional...just a pint size electric guitar whose claim to fame was that you could check it onto an airplane and it would fit in overhead...those came about i believe about '79 or '80
This was prerecorded live then they lip sync to it. i guess to ensure it would be real good... and to the guy asking about andy's guitar, it looks like an Erlewine "Chiquita" guitar, originally built for Billy gibbons of ZZ top for travel purpuses.. so you know it oozes tone if he uses one.
They are still available for about $600 bucks, not bad for a quality instrument....
What model is Sting's bass?

Andy's guitar in this video is so awesome, how come he doesn't use it during performing live? By the way, what's the name of the bass guitar?
thepolice281 2 years ago
I think that's a Hamer Blitz 8-string fretless bass.

A lot of "live" perfomances in the 80's were lip synced to recordings. Cheesy maybe yes, but that's how they did it.

His wife would be surprised too. She'd be wondering how he came out with 6 children.
