@qwertyDSESASCM1 It is quite clear that Dylan belonged with Brenda just bases on the fact that there were many times that he wanted to get back together with her and only didn't because Brenda said no, everytime he went off screen he went back to be with Brenda. He couldn't even tell Brenda he was marrying someone else but had no problem telling Kelly. Even Kelly said that she felt that Brenda was the great love of Dylan's life (End of season 4).

When Kelly asked Dylan in the pool about his choice he clearly said he only made his choice because Brenda didn't show up. She said what have happened if Brenda was here, and he simply said to her she's not. He did say to her then when he should have if he really loved her that he always wanted her. All he said was she's not here.

He always aided Brenda with with her problems and went to bat for her and he always opened up to her over confiding in Kelly, i.e like when his dad died. It also explains why Dylan's characters went for dark ed haired girls, Val, Gina in hopes of Brenda.

WHen it came time to choose even Kelly choose Brandon over Dylan, Jennie Garth in an interview herself even admitted that she felt that Brandon and Kelly were more suited for one another. Even the original writers and producers admitted that Brenda and Dylan were soulmates. Kelly and Dylan only became soulmates because Jennie and Luke were the only ones left.

Dylan choosing kelly was a WRONG choice! Dylan and Kelly as soul mates was a sham. He only choice Kelly BY default because Shannen was fired. They were a complete mismatch for each yet there was a fascinating and incredible connection that existed between Brenda and Dylan that is quite undeniable.
